That's the same price as P220 exhaust, 8073 to be precise, but then again that's the most premium part of P220.

Thank you Kiran for the heads up. The showroom folks here did quote 8k-ish so probably even they were not aware of it. Thank you for clarifying again.

I guess you missed one more thing i asked, regarding the noise. Can you please help me where to look for that .the noise creeps in after 25kmph..its like a metallic noise, which i thought was due to the chain. But its still persistent with the replacement of the chain set.
So finally managed sometime yesterday to have the fan rectified. Turns out the bearings were kind of gone..and was having a difficulty turning freely. Replacement was done under warranty and took almost half hour..glad she's back to life..thabks a lot folks.

However, the weird noise still persists. Wonder what that is. Even the service people are unable to track it. It really is annoying..[emoji21]

True Zapps. The reason it costs that much is that the 220s exhaust is sold as a single unit as opposed to slip-on on the KTM. Funny as it may sound, the KTM dealer here misquoted the amount, which in turn led me to quoting 8-kish. 9000 bucks to be precise is the price for the exhaust for the 220 for the older ones, the newer ones retail a few 100 bucks lesser. Nevertheless, the old brushed metal exhaust system gives the 220 its distinct look and its beefy muscular look.

          Cheers!

Ture indeed, as opposed to the 220 which has one single unit for the exhaust, when compared to the 2017 390/RC390 which have 2 piece bolt-on design with slip-on's.

The cost of full kit for the 390 would be around ₹8000-9000 as you have mentioned which includes header pipe, expansion chamber and end pipe. With end pipe adding to 50% of the cost and remaining for the other exhaust pipe components.

              I second the thought.
220's brushed aluminium finish looks really beautiful.

a cost effective method, use some diesel or kerosene and a paint brush to apply and wipe off.
then use the lube of your choice.

yes, it will spill on the rims and orange rims make this gunk more prominent vs a black rim.. wipe it off, its not going to leave any permanent marks.
Haha ,,LOL... well i washed and cleaned my bike yesterday and lubed the chain. Seems like the chain has become loose already as I have done 420 kms till now.
Have to get a paddock stand asap to make my life easier while cleaning the chain.

One thing which has got me in confusion is a stray purple colored wire dangling below the pillion seat. I don't know whether its extra cable for something or something got cut off. If anyone has seen anything like this, then they can please comment on this.Click image for larger version

What is the cost of chain sprocket and the life of them, in my old bike I e 220 I used it till 38k[emoji12].

And what are tyre options and the cost of Mets . My ride is about 1.2yrs old with 13.6k in odo and tyres are already at there end of cycle.. all the reviews stated the current Mets are kind of a hard compound compared to first gen Duke but even this tyre is hardly making it to 15k

but indiranagar svc chnaged the fan under warranty. but i still get the high engine temp warning in just 30 mins of B2B traffic. In normal traffic, there is no issue.
I ran into the "High Engine Temperature" issue a few days back. It happened suddenly one evening on my commute in heavy Mumbai traffic and it was a big pain to get it back home. The issue was fairly simple to figure out - The radiator fan had stopped working which led the engine to heat up to 8 bars. The bike was just un-rideable in such conditions; I had to start and stop every 10mins and wait for the engine to cool down before starting the bike again. Somehow made home that day, it was hell.

Took it to the SVC next morning and found the radiator fan working fine. The culprit was a blown fuse which was not triggering the fan when the temperature reached 4+ bars. Was shocked at how such a small issue could ruin the complete experience.

Anyhow, point is that if the fan is working fine and at its full capacity, there is no reason for the warning to come up, even in B2B traffic. My daily commute involves at least an hour of ordeal in the HEAVY B2B traffic of Mumbai, and still I've never seen temp bar going beyond 4. Bangalore is much cooler than Mumbai throughout the year, with almost the same traffic patterns. So there's some other issue here if you're still getting the warning.

Off topic, but the parts quality on the bike is appalling. The nut that holds the radiator shrouds broke into two this morning. I saw that my radiator guard was making weird noises and hence took it to the SVC for tightening. The moment SA tried opening the nut, it just broke. This, on a 3L bike???

All depends on use and maintenance, and i've observed that it is usually the front sprocket that takes a beating and wears out. on a well maintained chain, if you could replace the front sprocket at around 20k km, it should be able to pull another 10k easily (provided you are able to source just the front sprocket).. On a 200 it is easy since it uses the same sprocket as a P220 and can get just the original front sprocket at a spare shop.

Guys, regarding the chain tightening, does it really near to be done at every 500 kms or so. Today morning when I was coming i felt the chain slapping couple of times.
Any alternatives/pointers to reduce it other than chain tightening at a local garage ?

Need some inputs on below points:
                            1. From last 2 weeks I am noticing the radiator fan is not rotating at its full speed when it starts for the 1st time while riding. Once it is off and starts again due to heat it works fine. I was able to notice this due to the sound of the fan which can be heard easily with its full speed. Any suggestions on this if it is going to lead to an issue or is this normal.
                            2. Another thing I noticed is at particularly from 3800-4000 rpm there is constant sound coming near the handle bar area. It is like a plastic part continuously vibrating at that rpm range. I am suspecting something on the headlight unit because if I keep it pressed with hand and try to rev in that rpm range the noise is not noticeable. Please let me know if anyone else has faced something similar.

not at all.. usually it will be required around once every 3-5k km if done correctly. it only needs to be lubed every 500-700km.
again tight-loose are all relative terms.. check the slack in 'mm' as per the manual, and wee bit more is not a problem. getting on the tighter side is a strict no-no. and remember when you sit on the bike, it "tightens" up.. so i always prefer to check the slack after having someone sit on the bike.

I m might be wrong, but here is what I feel.

                                1. May be when your bike heats up the first time, the sensor is designed in such a way that it thinks the engine is hot for only little while and it doesn't spin the fan at full speed. When 2nd time the fan spins for engine heat, it may be above a threshold for a prolonged time, so the fan spins at max speed. I hope i made it clear.

Its like the fans spins for a little the first time and checks if the engine heat comes down and then when it doesn't come down and its certain threshold is crossed, it spins at full speed. Actually there is no point for the fan to spin at max, just when the engine becomes hot momentarily for the 1st time.

                                2. This could be that one of the deflectors in the headlight assembly ( I think we have 3 rows of LED) at the split headlight section might have come loose which is vibrating at a specific rpm.
Have a close look at the head light assembly from the LEDs side.

                                Cheers
