    Hi All,

So my bike got the 2nd servicing last weekend.
    Just few updates :
    1. New version for the software is available. Its 41 now. The update was quick and as per service engineer, it will solve the incorrect time and headlight flickering issue. I am not sure why they didn't release any official information for the existing customers.
    2. I wanted to get the heat plate that the 2018 models are getting. But came to know that the plate cannot be fitted to the 2017 models as the chassis is different.
    3. As per service supervisor, reason for the plate is that the radiator fan in 2017 came with a plastic shroud which directed the hot air in a particular direction. But the 2018 models are without this plastic shroud hence are given a bigger and faster moving fan but will direct heat in all direction. So to prevent the hot air hitting the leg, the plate is given.
    4. The front brake still produces a rubbing noise. The ASC people are still wondering about this and wanted to persuade me that all the bikes had that issue. I am still not convinced. I am taking my bike to get it checked by the KTM service manager in few days.. lets see what happens.

    Regards,
    J

Regarding point-2, so when you say that chassis is different do you mean to say that mount points are different or is it a new frame all together?

For 4, the front brake doesn't make any noise at my bike.

I could not actually see the 2018 version, but as per the service engineer the chassis is different so 2017 model cannot have that plate fixed, but i also doubt. Probably they have provided some mounting for the plate..

May be i got the ones with the defective calipers or brake pads.
But all the bikes i checked at the service center had these noise. It is not noticeable after speeds above 30 kmph.
But if the bike is stationary and i try to move it i hear that noise of some metal rubbing. Even confirmed this at service center.
So when i ride at low speeds like in traffic this noise really irritates me.

I have the similar noise in my bike too.
Have visited various SVCs and all have told me that it's the characteristic of sintered pads. Although, I don't believe them.

Some reviewers also mentioned the same noise problem.
I can only hear the noise in stop and go traffic which is a lot here in Delhi. So I have decided to just live with it.
Maybe after the brake pads are changed, it may stop.

I have noticed that my bike's engine revs high on its own during cold starts before settling on the idle rpm..is this normal..also the engine stops sometimes when I downshift to 1st or 2nd gear while deaccelerating suddenly from a high speed..happened quite a few times now.

Have come across an article related to ecu resetting which can help in correcting the above issues..has somebody tried this and did it work as purported?

Shamelessly copied and adapted from another forum. If you have engine running problems, try this first. It's good if you can solve several problems with one answer. Same thing used to happen to my Duke also. But only during the rains. Apparently some spring in the throttle was bad, so they replaced it during first service. Haven't had the issue since. Now I get some weird metal rubbing sound from front wheel when I turn the handle and move the bike slowly. Doesn't come while riding. Just when turning slowly. Could be brake pads - they've started screeching also when applying front brakes.

Dont know whats wrong, my post got deleted when i tried to edit it as it was not worth replying from you guys(i guess 😐). My rear rim is loosing its paint on mild rub while cleaning with a cloth and even normal finger rub can end up with an orange finger.
Please suggest what should be done and what options i have in this case.Second service is around the corner.

That's surprising indeed! I'd like to ask, what sort of solvent was used to clean the rim? Extremely strong solvents can in fact dissolute the paintjob, like how brake fluid acts on paint. If your cleaning procedure included just shampoo and normal household shampoo, then it's advisable to push it for a warranty replacement. If you can, do post a photo of that spot, would help us get some insights on this one.

Nonetheless, paint chipping on a new bike definitely necessitates for a warranty replacement.

                          Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                          The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

No solvent was used to clean . Only water and cloth.

                            Thanks for the suggestion.

Call it poor quality paint job or just an ugly duckling from the lot. There is nothing much one can do here. If you observe the paint degrading to the bare metal or if you feel it should, definitely take the video as a proof to the SVC and push it for a warranty replacement.

                                Cheers!
