    POST MERGED AND APPROVED

    Hi All,

Today I brought this mean machine to home

and my first reactions were ~beauty & the beast~

I am upgrading myself from Avenger 220 cruise and this is my first naked bike. Another point to note is that I have never ridden any bike other than Avenger & Discover 100

Here is my review of the bike basis ~25Kms I rode this beast today (I will be comparing it against Avenger) :

    Pros:
    1. The looks are out of the books - Be ready to get stares (good kind of) from almost everyone on the road
    2. Handling is a absolutely breeze. Although it took sometime for me to get adjusted as I am habitual of low seating, thanks to Avenger
    3. Acceleration is crazy - I was afraid the whole time as I am not habitual to this kind of power delivery
    4. Seating/Posture is bit agressive but with wider seat compared to older versions, I felt it was quite comfortable
    5. The headlight coverage is quite good and upper beam luminates the road like a big halogen
    6. The display (TFT screen) is very informative and very easy to use
    7. The brakes are very responsive (compared to Avenges, which is combination of disc & drum)

    Cons:
    1. Vibration - As soon as you push the start machine, you feel like someone has put a strong vibrator b/w your legs. As you go towards higher speed, it settles down and you won't feel a bit
    2. Heat is another big concern (you can even dry your clothes near radiator ). People who rode previous Duke versions might be used to it but for someone like me, it feels that something is wrong with the bike. This again goes away with higher RPMs
    3. At ower RPMs (read - "bangalore traffic) it becomes very difficult to ride this bike but as soon this bike gets a bit of space, all hell breaks loose

I was little skeptical about this machine as I was coming from a very calm cruiser but I guess I was wrong. This is a beast you would like to tame. This is beauty which you will always cherish..!!

I am taking the bike to Wayand this weekend (~290Km from Bangalore). Will edit the post based on long ride experience.

Here are few pics I took:

        So quick update.
I've been using the v41 for a while now and I can confirm that the TFT reboot issue while receiving calls has been rectified.

          Hey Guys,

Was planning for a big ride this year to Spiti valley. Riding all the way from Bangalore Solo. Have currrently done around 4500kms. Was planning to do the oil change before i leave as i'm still running on the first set of Synthetic oil after 1st service. Thinking of switching over the Engine oil to Motul 300v (15w50) & coolant to Motocool. Do let me know if anyone has tried the same.

          Secondly,
I'm planning to take the Hyderabad route through Nagpur, Jhansi, Gwalior, Agra, Delhi & Chandigarh. If anyone has traveled on this route and can give me some tips it would be of great help.

          Thanks in advance.

Stick to the motul 7100, 10w50. a 10w because at the cooler temps up the mountains it will flow better than 15w or 20w.
Coolant you can switch to motocool, don't expect miracles though.. i use the same on my d200 from the past 1.5 yrs.

That's good news. I was not connecting the phone to TFT since odo was resetting in v39.

Thanks for the update. Any new features added ?

For route planning, do post your queries in the Roads in India thread here

300V is an overkill. Stick with Motul 7100, and make sure you carry an oil can and a liter of coolant as an extra with you. During your trip, keep a tab of the engine oil and coolant after every consecutive days and top up if necessary, imperative. The trip is indeed a journey to reckon with, so make sure you know the little details of your bike pretty well before your start your journey. Make sure you carry a puncture kit with you and make sure you know how to deal with those situations.

                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                THE END

Sorry for the late reply, I missed the notification.

So there are no new features, I believe this update was meant to just iron out the bugs.
Also, I noticed that with v39, there was a slight lag between the time your phone started ringing and the tft showing it.
Maybe it was just me but that's sorted with v41 as well, now it's almost instantaneous.
                    So far, so good.

Hi Folks, what’s the maximum tyre size you can put on a Duke 390? My friend was thinking to upgrade to 160 or 170 perhaps, would be it possible. Thanks!

Some mild paint chipping happens due to scuffing and with normal wear and tear. If you observe the patch getting bigger, you can probably push it for warranty replacement. Mild scuff and chips are part of normal wear and tear, mostly unknowingly due to foreign objects and what not. If you observe the patch getting bigger, i.e. when you wash and the likes, you can push it under warranty replacement.

You have to have that KTM My ride app up and running before you try to connect. First time pairing take a few seconds but after that it's a seamless experience, never had connection issues on Android.
