While the oil was filled, it was visible through the glass windows and levels was exact. After a ride the oil was visible but was not upto the level.

Can anyone suggest a way to find the level of oil via the glass. It's so tricky !

The SVC was not able to do V41 update since they had some issues with the Bosch tool. Faced one ECU reset at 700 kms lost 15 kms and nothing after that.

And also regarding the paint coming off from rims, it has reduced after few washes. Not completely eliminated but the amount of paint comes in the cloth while wiping reduced.

    So far so good !

When the engine is cold, it's normal to see mild white puff of smoke, the ECU richenes the mixture for quick starts during cold starts, so you see mild puff. Once the engine is warmed up or heated up, you shouldn't see any smoke as was in your case. Normal.

As I've reiterated many a times in this thread, warm up the engine, and tilt the bike to left and right and then check the oil level in a plane surface. The Dukes are notorious for giving false oil level readings.

Unless I use it for at least a week, I can't say for sure.
    So far so good though.
Probably the most awaited information in this thread. Do keep your observations posted. If possible, try to videograph the updated version and doing a small demo of the all the features and the working of the TFT, definitely might come in handy.

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
    The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

    THE END

Hey that looks good. What is your height> i'm about 5'6" tall and i had installed Fazer V1's windshield and it was creating a hell lot of wind turbulence and was hitting me right on my face. Is this adjustable? what speeds have you done with this?

Also have recently purchased a MT Thunder 3 sv helmet, but somehow felt that it has a lot of wind noise. How does the windshield help for that?

Hi, I am 5'11", no the windshield is not adjustable, but it does reduce the windblast to a good extent, I usually do 100-120 kmph on the highway, windshield does a good job till those speeds. Wind noise in helmet is an issue for me as well, I use a SOL helmet. Use earplugs or earphones to get rid of wind noise.

I have heard that the SOL has wind noises only post 100 kmph, and if you have wind deflection it shouldn't really happen right?

Wind deflection is there but it's not a 100% thing, there is always some noise

For a good quality windscreen one can look for PUIG.
I have seen videos on youtube and it seems quality is quite good and it has been specifically designed for Duke 390 2017-18 version.

Great. Thanks for the update. Also can you just tell me where exactly the wind is directed?? like above the chest or helmet?

It is directed above the helmet, near the over head vents of the helmet

                        Hello all ,

Sorry if it is a noob question.

I was going through the 390 twin forums and most of them cited the failure of head gasket along with the water pump seals. Looks like a very common issue for all the 390's out there.

Is this fixed in the 2017/2018 versions ? Or should we be expecting any of them?

If some one is aware of what is causing the head gaskets/water pump seals to fail it would be really helpful for preventing them in the long run.

The ratio of failures makes it look like a manufacturing defect.

If you are aware of these failures , please share your thoughts !

                        Thanks in advance

This is, was and is currently is an issue with the newer lot 390s. The issue has to do with poor Q&A from the factory or design lethargy, the nemesis to the newer 390s coupled with wafer thin updates from the factory if any. Though we're happy with the TFT console getting its update doses periodically, other issues whatsoever still remain the same, to a diverse set. Nonetheless, it's a fun fun machine to have a relationship ship. The newer lots are far far smoother, even more punchier and VFM just can't match any offering from any manufacturer.

                            Cheers!

Just need your advice. I am taking my bike for first service maybe today or tomorrow, any special precautions or work to be done apart from regular engine oil change and chain cleaning/ adjustments.

Have a check on all fuids (brake, coolant). Visually inspect the bike for any oil leaks, coolant leaks , airbox cracks , disc warps , front forks oil seals , chain slackeness so that is something is wrong it can be claimed under warranty .

Apart from the oil change and filter change request for brake pad cleaning as well and also get the v41 update for the TFT and also us know about it's stability.

Just lost 20kms, when I received a call while listening to music. V39 is so unstable.
