I got my duke 390's front rim replaced under insurance but to my surprise there is no ktm sticker/paint on the rim whereas the original one that came with motorcycle has ktm logo . Is it normal on replaced rims ?

The filters are dry. Just that I went though the manual (after a yearOriginally posted by s1d View PostInteresting.. Viscous air filter.. hmm.
Maybe they have one as part of the EVAP system or secondary air injection
or a simple copy paste mistake on their manual.
Viscous air filter are ones that have an oil layer on them (like the honda activa's etc.. or sponge type filters that are coated with oil e.g. rx100)
The older activa's (102cc) came with a dry paper type air filter while the secondary air filter (part of the sai system was a viscous sponge type)
The duke comes with a dry paper type air filter. (not sure if they too switched to a viscous type on newer models)
) they provided with the bike and saw this mentioned.
Confusing
Ride safe and have fun.

U need to buy the Sticker seperately and it won't be covered under insurance.Originally posted by pchetan2 View PostI got my duke 390's front rim replaced under insurance but to my surprise there is no ktm sticker/paint on the rim whereas the original one that came with motorcycle has ktm logo . yeh, no idea man.. the k&n , bmc etc.. are viscous type filters.. the stock one though as you said is a dry paper type.Originally posted by nadz11.ns View PostThe filters are dry. Just that I went though the manual (after a year

Confusing
either a printing mistake in the manual or there is a viscous type filter elsewhere that we need to find

Ktm does not give any offers in Gurgaon. They said its a premium bike and no offers. I think thats company policy so should be true in Bangalore as well.Originally posted by sujithbvm View PostGuys,
Anybody know any good festive offers going on for ktm duke 390 in bangalore.
Thank you.

Viscous as the name suggests is nothing but oil bathed filters. Any filter element can be turned into viscous by dabbing a few drops of oilOriginally posted by nadz11.ns View PostRegular Air Filter and Viscous Air Filter..
What's a Viscous air filter? Any idea..
Viscous medium traps dirt better than a plain a paper element. Most maintenance free bikes, scooters and the likes use viscous, as they are maintenance free. Foam filters can be mildly dabbed with 20w40 oil for effective filtration.
Yes, it's supposed to be that way, both the lights and the coolant issueOriginally posted by Dodge_Viper View PostThanks guys. Will keep a check on coolant level. Though somewhere it was mentioned that 2018 models had the mixing issue sorted out.
Another thing, the claw shaped DRL, alongwith low beam on, is it too light during the day? I mean is it supposed to be that way?
Unfortunately, the issues do pop up here and there, and overall the reliability isn't something to be proud of, but it's all about fun and enjoy while it lasts types with the Duke series. So many posts, so many solutions, yet the problems seem to be reappearing more the 390 surprisingly the 200 keeps chugging along fine.
Cheers!

The girl said, 'NO!'
And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

They are giving some goodies.Originally posted by VaibhavPisal View PostKtm does not give any offers in Gurgaon. They said its a premium bike and no offers. I think thats company policy so should be true in Bangalore as well.
There are giving free crash guard, sari guard, free mud guard and free handle guard protectors and 3 litres petrol free 😁😁. This is specific to ktm indiranagar.
No free, stuff at ktm marathalli at all.
----consecutive posts auto-merged-----
Guys i booked the bike today at ktm indiranagar with 5k as initial payment.
Gone with the white color 😍😍..
Now as I had mentioned earlier the price is almost 3k more than before. It's 315950 on road.
The showroom guys, told me the price is higher due to change in insurance price.
Below is the break up they gave me.
Ex showroom price = 244087
Life time road tax 49457
Insurance 21406
Registering charges ,smart card, and handling charges 1000.
Total is 315950.
Seems like all components price increased by almost 1000 bucks so the overall on road price increased by 3000.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
that's bs. i've bought a ktm and seen it myself on several ktm's being delivered. the crashguards , saree guard/rear mudguard , front mud flap all std equipment. these along with the mirrors usually come in a separate box and are to be installed at delivery (the crash , saree/rear mudguard is preinstalled from factory)

Wow.. Thanks for the information dude. Will take them upto task on Monday.Originally posted by s1d View Postthat's bs. i've bought a ktm and seen it myself on several ktm's being delivered. the crashguards , saree guard/rear mudguard , front mud flap all std equipment. these along with the mirrors usually come in a separate box and are to be installed at delivery (the crash , saree/rear mudguard is preinstalled from factory)
If there was nothing free they should have just told me directly like the dudes at ktm marathalli did.
I should not have taken them up for there word as they told me its free for festive season.
Also how many kms are generally seen on the bike which you get. Less than 10 kms I suppose and the manufacturing date should be as close as possible to the date of delivery.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
well, lot of folks ask for 'freebies'/'offers' and so some dealers like to term these std equipment as 'free' to make the customer feel better. also other manufacturers like honda charge the sidestand/crashguards as extra fitting and so people just assume the same for every manufacturer.Originally posted by sujithbvm View PostWow.. do you think a dealership would shy away from making more money if there was an opportunity ?
as for the no. of kms.. it depends. usually under 20km. I picked it with with '0' on the odo because I had told them I will pick it up directly once its unloaded from their truck at their dealership. some dealers have their warehouse elsewhere from where the bike is ridden to the dealership, and in some cities the bikes go to the rto too, and in such cases odo reading might be a little higher (but definitely shouldn't be over 50km in most cases)

Ya, you are right. It's just I was asking for festive offers and he might have told for the same reason as you said.Originally posted by s1d View Postwell, lot of folks ask for 'freebies'/'offers' and so some dealers like to term these std equipment as 'free' to make the customer feel better. also other manufacturers like honda charge the sidestand/crashguards as extra fitting and so people just assume the same for every manufacturer.

If he gives me an option to choose the bike from the available lot then I will choose the one with least number of kms on it.
One more weird thing he told was if you pay the whole amount up front without any finance then the bike will be available next day and registration will happen post delivery.
But if you go for finance option or loan, then you will get it after registration only.
I know there is less time for registration, when the delivery is next day but something seemed fishy about it.
Also, do you know the location of the vin number?
And how to decode it manufacturing details.
