I have no idea about how registration formalities work out in your state.. differs from state to state.
since 2017, these ktm's come with some sort of a digital 'lock' from factory which needs to be unlocked at the dealership using their scan tool iirc.

VIN is nothing but the chassis/frame number.. it is stamped on steering stem towards the right side (the tube part of frame under the handlebar). It will also be mentioned in the invoices and RC.. usually starts with VBK..
Search on the forum and you will find how to decode the vin for the ktm's.
without the vin there is a cruder way to know approx manufacturing date on the older dukes, there will be a date stamped on the monoshock plastic cover, the underbelly exhaust muffler and fork bottom at the axle iirc.. these dates will usually be around a month prior to actual manufacture date. Not sure if these are present on the ktm's these days.

If he gives me an option to choose the bike from the available lot then I will choose the one with least number of kms on it.

One more weird thing he told was if you pay the whole amount up front without any finance then the bike will be available next day and registration will happen post delivery.

But if you go for finance option or loan, then you will get it after registration only.

I know there is less time for registration, when the delivery is next day but something seemed fishy about it.

What kind of bs showroom people are talking? Why will they give you bike after registration which will take a month? What will they do with the bike in meantime?

Tell them I will make payment on day of delivery.

Also all that equipment is standard fitment. I got bike same day finance and delivery with 1 km on odo.

I agree with you. There is some confusion. Tomorrow I have to give the documents and make the down payment.
Since the loan clearance will take a day or two, i don't think i will get delivery on the same day.

Do you see any other alternative ?

Also I will ask them about this confusion regarding bike delivery after registration and all.

I don't know how deliveries are made in Bangalore. But if bike is alotted and fully paid for, what business does showroom has in keeping the bike? What if they put some scratches or give it for test ride?

I think you should make down payment and select the bike on same day as delivery. Or ask someone from Bangalore how it is managed.

Hey guys.. Noticed a strange issue on my D390 today. The radiator fan somehow didn't start despite the high temperature. It did happen to me during my Spiti ride earlier this year, as the fan would start, but the RPM's were varying which obviously it shouldn't. But somehow after reaching Pune it was working fine and never showed any signs since then. Experienced the low RPM of the fan a week ago and got back to normal RPM in a few seconds. And today when i was just warming her up..this happened. Any one has any idea on the same?Click image for larger version

I had the same issue, infact the fan used to stop working and if I push it with a stick it would work again.. later it was replaced under warranty

The fan would mildly slow down when high beam is switched on, but still fast enough. If you observe the fan not spinning and acting weird with extremely low RPM and acts normal again, then to repeat the same thing, it's a sign that your radiator fan is about to fail or is in the process of. Get your fan checked and replaced under warranty.

Is that coolant leak there, in the blurry second pic?

                Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
                The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

                THE END

Hey thanks for the quick response. I did visit the service centre. But unfortunately everytime i went it was working perfectly normal, so had to return bare handed. Will have it checked now, even if it does work, will insist on replacement since i have the proof of it not working. And yes its the coolant, i captured a screenshot out of the video as I wasn't sure if i could upload it. It was steaming up, and hence a lot of smoke.

If they can do a swap of the new Radiator of 2018 Model, what is your take on it?

Also a few days back i had posted about some weird metallic noise, post which i replaced the chain. But the noise still persists. Any pointers towards the same?

I would highly recommend to swap radiator fan with 2018 model as 2018 model gets a bigger and better fan.

Did you hit a stone or something?
How come the coolant is leaking from the radiator like that?

Nope.. Nothing such, i guess due to the high temperature it just started boiling and is leaking from the reservoir hose not the radiator.

I really hope they agree to do that under warranty. As the new fan also spins faster and is better. Lets see.. however this looks like the first instance of a radiator Fan that has stopped working on a 2017 D390

2017/2018 the fan doesn't make a big difference. What I'd insist with them is get it replaced under warranty, even though the fan seems to be working fine. Fan is what keeps the temperature down for the most part in B2B traffic and failed fan would mean the engine would turn off automatically and a possible head gasket failure. I'd strongly recommend you to document it in a video format and discrepancies that you face and under warranty it should all be replaced.

                            Cheers!

Yeaa..will go this weekend and update.

I guess you missed one more thing i asked, regarding the noise. Can you please help me where to look for that .the noise creeps in after 25kmph..its like a metallic noise, which i thought was due to the chain. But its still persistent with the replacement of the chain set.

I think you should make down payment and select the bike on same day as delivery. Or ask someone from Bangalore how it is managed.

I went to the showroom yesterday to know the delivery process. They have the bike readily available with them and I can choose the one i want.
First I have to make the down payment and the documents and once the loan gets approved, the showroom guys will need minimum one day to finish RTO formalities with the bike I selected.

So the bike will be in the showroom for minimum 2 days after I select the bike I want.

The showroom guys told, the loan approval and the RTO formalities will not be all possible on the same day.

I don't think there can be any work around on this and moreover its festive season and lot of government and bank officials will be going on leave, delaying the formalities further.

Bangalore guys who took delivery with the financial process can further throw some light on solving this issue or if this is how it has always worked out ?

                                Thank you.
