since 2017, these ktm's come with some sort of a digital 'lock' from factory which needs to be unlocked at the dealership using their scan tool iirc.
VIN is nothing but the chassis/frame number.. it is stamped on steering stem towards the right side (the tube part of frame under the handlebar). It will also be mentioned in the invoices and RC.. usually starts with VBK..
Search on the forum and you will find how to decode the vin for the ktm's.
without the vin there is a cruder way to know approx manufacturing date on the older dukes, there will be a date stamped on the monoshock plastic cover, the underbelly exhaust muffler and fork bottom at the axle iirc.. these dates will usually be around a month prior to actual manufacture date. Not sure if these are present on the ktm's these days.
