Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Definitely individual... for me it was the opposite. Again depends on priority, my ride is going to be used 80-90% in city hence 390 just did not make any sense as one cant live with it as a CITY RIDEOriginally posted by oldman View PostDon't know I think it's quite individual, I tried all the 3 but 390 was just overpowering, it felt to good that the other two didn't even register as rides in the mind, just one ride and you are sold

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
I agree with you. But the very fact that those goodies come at a 65k + price is a no for me. Yes a 25-30k one can still understand. Btw there are not many goodies in the 250 other than liquid cooled, usd forks. Please share if i am unaware of any more. May be that will make me realise tge diff.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View PostActually FZ 25 doesnt offer much and hence price tag is ok. If you consider FZ with all the goodies that D250 has, then one can assume how much it would cost considering the current pricing for simple tech.

If we consider the pricing then here are the things.Originally posted by prashnagpal View PostI agree with you. But the very fact that those goodies come at a 65k + price is a no for me. 1. Trellis Frame
2. Slipper clutch
3. Adjustable Front USD forks
4. Liquid cooling
5. Wider tyres
6. The engine has DOHC 4V setup .
7. Aluminium swing arm.
8. Metal tank
9. Bigger brakes
Just assume if we ask Yamaha all the above feature in FZ, then one might get the idea of the price. Especially, trellis frame, slipper clutch and adjustable USD in Yamaha bikes, is a dream
. But my guess most of us need only the engine performance. Yamaha clearly understood our mentality of CC vs price and hence they did major cost cutting by omitting features
The reason D250 seems pricy is because of D390.
Sorry for the OT.Last edited by dineshaugustin; 06-20-2017, 08:49 AM.

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
No offense meant, I have graduated from a P 220, dint know much about the FZ riding comfort, but find the Duke to be very comfortable to ride because of its weight distribution, the lightness you feel on your hands when you break, the control you feel on corners and the aggression it shows to cross other vehicles, it's actually the riding pleasure that I feel differentiates, that's the reason why people so much love the REOriginally posted by dineshaugustin View PostIf we consider the pricing then here are the things.

Exactly, that the reason i prefer D250 over FZ.Originally posted by oldman View PostNo offense meant, I have graduated from a P 220, dint know much about the FZ riding comfort, but find the Duke to be very comfortable to ride because of its weight distribution, the lightness you feel on your hands when you break, the control you feel on corners and the aggression it shows to cross other vehicles, it's actually the riding pleasure that I feel differentiates, that's the reason why people so much love the RE

Without further argument, would like to ask you a genuine question for my understanding: how many of the above mentioned features are going to be useful to me for a 90% city commute bike?Originally posted by dineshaugustin View PostIf we consider the pricing then here are the things.

Are you saying its nice to ride like an re? Not able to understand your point. I thought re's were only preferred by a selected style of ppl even though it has such a different style of riding.Originally posted by oldman View PostNo offense meant, I have graduated from a P 220, dint know much about the FZ riding comfort, but find the Duke to be very comfortable to ride because of its weight distribution, the lightness you feel on your hands when you break, the control you feel on corners and the aggression it shows to cross other vehicles, it's actually the riding pleasure that I feel differentiates, that's the reason why people so much love the RE
Yesterday i also test rode the tb500. Never ever liked the re's all my life but to my surprise i was very impressed with the way the tb500 felt in the city in comparison to tge 390. I can say its much easier to live with the tb500 in the city than a 390

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
Its purely based on your preference. I have not ridden D250, but going by the owners feedback, D250 is more flick able and composed. So if you need all around riding experience, then D250 would do.Originally posted by prashnagpal View PostWithout further argument, would like to ask you a genuine question for my understanding: how many of the above mentioned features are going to be useful to me for a 90% city commute bike?
But if need only engine performance then FZ is sufficient if you say 90% city commuting ( for that matter you dont even need FZ25) .
For me i prefer complete riding experience rather than engine performance alone, so my choice would be D250 regardless of city or highway usage.
If you are satisfied with FZ itself then no need to spend extra money. All i was saying is simply we cant say FZ is VFM while D250 is over priced.

The new 390 has that impact just one simple test ride and it is soldOriginally posted by oldman View PostDon't know I think it's quite individual, I tried all the 3 but 390 was just overpowering, it felt to good that the other two didn't even register as rides in the mind, just one ride and you are sold

Re: 2017 Duke 390 Owners Reviews and Experiences
The point, was it's the overall riding comfort and feel that matters, again the fell also depends on the riders built, height etc, go for a bike that give you feeling of being at home, features beyond a point and not deal breakers, I agree, the TB500 is a wonderful bike to own except for some niggles that are part of RE life, you can read J Ravi's detailed reviews on TB 500, it's a very fine machine with all the torqueOriginally posted by prashnagpal View PostAre you saying its nice to ride like an re? . probably takes same time for a guy on a 100cc and a guy on a 1000cc to go from home-office-home in our traffic.
