Absolutely true. My friends who own 2016 duke had lesser issues compared to 2017 Duke. Unconventionally with every model new issues are popping up. Sad state of affair with KTM. I am sure that I will not own a Indian made KTM again. List of issues I faced with 2017 duke is as follows.

    Serious Issues
    1. Coolant engine Oil mixing issue - this is one issue that is faced by many and not rectified yet in 2018 Duke which means KTM is not serious in QC at all. I still do not think a engine opened to SVC can be as good as factory fitted engine. This issue took away my confidence. I personally did not like my engine opened up at SVC at 3K kms for some issue that arised at factory.
    2. RidebyWire Failure - This is the latest issue which I faced. Though this is faced by very few folks, this is one of the serious issues. All of a sudden your accelerator stops working in middle of the road. Imagine a long truck behind you on a highway and you face this issue.

@sujithbvm, all new vehicle insurance bookings will be by default taken in with NIL DEP/ZERO DEP as they are an add-on it's all covered in the insurance cost. 90% of the insurance policies are NIL DEP, but it's always wise to check your insurance paper to make sure the little word " ZERO DEP or NIL DEP is checked and added to your insurance.

        Cheers!

i've noticed that at the dealer/svc i usually visit (Earlier when ktm/kawa were together), the ktm's were by default without zero dep while the kawa's were being handed out zero dep policies(of-course there is a price diff).
Ya, there are fair chances there might be different commission rates for different polices for the same insurance agent.
        Zero dep vs normal insurance.

And the insurance agent may be inclined to get more commission out of this and may tick or not tick the ZERO DEP box.

Your post on the Coolant engine Oil mixing issue in 2018 dukes makes me worry.

Is this issue prevalent only in the Duke 390s or also the RC390 is affected as essentially they are the same engine.?

I don't see this much issues in dominar's forum for dominar.... But i always believed KTMs quality to be at par with that of Bajaj's.

I've not heard dominar facing the issues of coolant mixing with the engine oil. Aren't both the engines manufactured in the same way?

Even dominar has coolant mixing issues. Frankly speaking you are not following Dominar thread properly.

Is the frequency as high as the Duke. I've not seen many people talking about it. If so pls enlighten me as i just recently joined the dominar thread.

Yeah. But it is resolved in 2018 version. There's no more issues.

Dominar is not completely trouble free. Maybe issue is severe in duke cause of high compression ratio.

I did saw lot of videos on YouTube when I searched for problems in dominar as part of my research before purchase.

Agreed, I have a 2018 model, ridden it for about 5k km and it's absolutely trouble free.

I own the 2017 one from the initial batches and till now did not get any issues except for the software related which are resolved now.

In Nov 17 I even did Hyd to Bhutan without facing any issues during the trip as well as after reaching back.

Hi, Any insurance experts here ?

My policy is due expiry. Currently i have a new india assurance policy with IDV around 224k. While renewing for the coming year i am planning to add on zero depreciation cover.
Lets say i have kept IDV at around 200k with Zero Dep / 100k IDV with zero depreciation. What would be the difference ?
What i understood is in case of total loss i would get respective amount of IDV and in case of accidents amounting less than IDV there wouldn't be any difference in claims. Correct me if i am wrong.

Also what all policies are you guys using ? any suggestions to switch, also what premium do you guys have. ?

I also renewed the insurance 2 days back (first renewal) and mine was also with New India Assurance.
I renewed it from their website. The IDV there wouldn't go about 157112 with zero dep and Cost me 4244.

Check their website first, policy bazar etc.

                                Ride safe and have fun.
