    Hi VJ,
I think a drain interval of 3K is very orthodox in today's age where synthetics have come a long way. I've seen countless 390's upwards of 70-80K on the ODO without the engine touched and they only stuck to the factory drain interval. (provided all the valve clearance checks and major checks are carried out at proper intervals)

Manufacturers with Unlimited mileage warranty have really long drain intervals because the oil can take it and seldom shows any sign of breakdown. I personally check the viscosity at different intervals and 7100 still looks good for a very very long time. I think 5k is a good conservative number to change oils.

Anything lesser is just damaging to the environment as well as a colossal waste of money in my opinion.

Hi Chip. Synthetics have come a long way, and so is our traffic, our riding conditions and along with it heat and what not. It's not to say that 5k is a deal breaker. But, it's better to be safe than not. Very few people take the due diligence to observe the oil, its condition, viscosity, or let alone checking for basic level in the first place. I personally recommend a 3k interval purely taking out the guesswork and whats and ifs. Me ain't an oil specialist, all that my dingy dome holds is of pure experience.

Of course, each individual has his own riding style, pattern, drain interval change et cetera, et cetera, which I can't and won't have a say on though I concur your point, periodic valve train inspection goes a L O N G way in making sure an engine remains in good shape.

      Ride safe!

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

      THE END

I've a small issue with my 2017 D 390. The bike used to feel really powerful and would easily pull from 4000rpm. However lately I've observed that the bike is very sluggish and it starts to pull strongly after 6500rpm. Also the engine sounds quite noisy and rough. Any pointers toward this.

        Thanks in Advance.
Get compression test done. Compression should be between 5.5-7.5 i remember, anything lower, it would feel lacking power and rough.

Is it normal for oil to leak from the wires comming out from left case ? Not a big leak but I can see it's kind of wet around that area.

And also in the place where the right case joins the engine it seems like the gasket is always wet with oil. A thin layer of oil always surrounds the join area.Is it normal?

          Thanks !

Know issue with Duke which they won't fix properly. Even mine does so they applied some transparent glue like stuff but even now there's a slight leak. I'm referring to the left side.

Right side thought changing the seal would solve it.

True, some people expect a miracle with an oil change/brand after neglecting prior oil changes. when damage is done due to running with insufficient/bad oil, it can't be undone with some magical potion. 5K km intervals on a 7100 is perfectly fine, it can hold up even a bit more.

Any idea how much clutch plates replacement would cost?
fuel pump can be pressure tested at the svc.
another thing that comes to my mind is, pls check the brakes to see if the pads are binding to the disc i.e. the wheels should rotate freely when you spin them by hand with the bike on paddock stand. sometimes the pistons do get stuck and the pads ever so gently make contact with the disc and increase the friction causing the wheels to not move freely. And i hope the tire pressure is not too low and the chain slack/sprockets look good.
the other thing as i said could be worn/slipping clutch plates.
that's all for now, i could list out everything that could go wrong.. but that would be simply shooting in the dark and only confusing you. let someone else who rides a 390, ride yours and see what they have to say and vice versa.

They are both very good performers for what they have to offer. Just to put it though, the 300 is a tried and tested one, and it isn't one to be worried as the beta tester. Good luck.

VJ, now I am not saying I have definitely decided, but just finished with my tax filing and suddenly feel like the R3 is within range
So maybe pocket over Heart and head !
My initial plan was to upgrade to a twin anyway, but budget was looking very tight.

If I do get a rental R3, I think I might really take a swing.

I called them, they don't seem to, at least it doesn't go through via the website.
It is not available through the website either, you won't find it for any time.

The closest I got to is the Bikers Enclave, their R3 was in an accident, so they asked me to check by September 1st week.

A friend of mine had a rental R3 for a few days before buying his actual R3. Let me check with him and i'll get back to you via PM

My bike was kinda low on pick up and rough from couple of week, yesterday bike was low on fuel with only 20kms as range and it was acting like it might shut down anytime, filled up in reliance petroleum sudden bike was super charged and acting like 390 supposed to even today the bike is smooth and eager to rev.

I thought may be water has entered the tank hence it's acting like that when fuel is low but today again the fuel range has come to 20kms but still bike is smooth and revvy, so I don't think any water has entered the tank.

Usually I fill the tank at shell but today coz of emergency I filled at reliance for 200bucks.
From today Will fill up at reliance and see.

These bike's are totally wierd, my old bike p220 used to act like that, I usually thought it's a Bajaj thing but even 390 acting the same. God knows wat..

You should definitely try the R3. You never know, in fact, it can be the final calling. I would strongly recommend the R3 too.

                          Good luck.

                                Hi Guys,

A bit of noob-ish question, I just finished my 1st paid service (4th one) at 15k ODO which also included chain sprocket replacement. All the items came upto around 5k but just the labour cost was around 3k, so a total of around 8k. Is it normal to have this high labour costs?

                                Thanks,

I had this problem with my Galaxy s9. But my office phone which is an iphone works like a charm, automatically connects, music works, caller ID works and also does not require another app.
