I have ridden the old 390, pre 2017 RC390, new 390 fair bit for city commuting and B2B peak traffic and I can totally agree with the jerky and jumpy part

The pre-2017 390/RC's without the ride-by-wire is so much more easier to control in city traffic even though many say it's the other way round where new one feels easier but I don't agree, the first time I rode the 2017 390 it felt so disconnected lacked the mechanical connect and feel of the older bikes, it was missing the physical throttle cable wire for sake!

It was jumping all over the place as I felt the ride-by-wire was too sensitive and has a very sharp fuel cut off when compared to the older cable setup, you could easily modulate small amount 2-3mm of throttle input on older setup atleast for my riding style.

Even till date whenever I get to ride the new 390 it feels like a completely different bike to me and still haven't been able to connect or understand the ride-by-wire system.

I was thinking how to make it some what like r3 which is easier to ride in city and power kicks in only at higher rpm. Will decreasing 2 to 3 teeths at the rear sprocket make it tall geared and somewhat ride like a r3. I know it's because of the twin cylinder nature that makes the r3 as it is, but just curious on how to make the 390 more urban friendly bike.
If I understand by jumpy you mean the snatchiness nature is purely or due to the way the fueling is setup on the bike, the maps. This has been a problem right from 2013 to this day. Only adding a piggyback ECU with corrected maps can and will solve this issue. The temperamental nature, the arrogance all has not only to do with the engine, but the way the fuel is fed to the engine itself. Though as Kiran pointed out, cable setup can be adjusted to get a good tactile feel, the RBW system isn't the sole culprit here. In fact, with the right fueling and tune, the RBW is a boon when compared to cable.

Secondly, you can use the Duke 200 sprocket, the (six hole ones). The Duke 390 is 15/45, the Duke newer 200 have 14/42 six hole and they are a direct fit to the 390.

      Cheers!

Once upon a time, a guy asked a girl 'Will you marry me?'
      The girl said, 'NO!'

And the guy lived happily ever after and rode motorcycles and watched sport on a big screen TV, went fishing and surfing, and played golf a lot, and drank beer and scotch and had tons of money in the bank and left the toilet seat up and farted whenever he wanted.

Metzeler India reps asked me to send back the tyre to them and I would receive a new tyre from them once they receive mine. My front tyre was already worn out and they assured that no problem would occur due to this so I saved all the terrible and just installed the tyre . They couldn't confirm whether it's tampered or not.

Whereas this is the reply from the metzeler Germany.

If that doesn't look tampered then I don't know what does.

That looks like a reply from an automated bot. Also, if this is a common request, then the check could have done by automated image analysis.

You should have replied, no one's talking about the DOT number, we're talking about the date number. The DOT number is the same for all the Metz series sold in India for this size. Anyways, since you're getting a new tire, keep your observations posted.

            Cheers!

              Hey Guys,

I've a small issue with my 2017 D 390. The bike used to feel really powerful and would easily pull from 4000rpm. However lately I've observed that the bike is very sluggish and it starts to pull strongly after 6500rpm. Also the engine sounds quite noisy and rough. Any pointers toward this.

              Thanks in Advance.

Check your engine oil , first thing . Power loss can be a whole bunch of factors. But the first step is to check the state of the oil and when was your last oil change . Also check your air filter , may be clogged. Do you ride your bike hard a lot? If soo maybe your clutch plates are worn if your one of those people who like to redline the bike in every gear and all the time.

When was the last oil change done? If your oil is more than 3.5k kms old and your oil level is low, the performance will be sluggish and the engine will be rough, coupled with increased engine temperature. Too low oil can in fact burn your clutch plates and hence lead to poor acceleration and sluggish performance. How much has the bike clocked?

                  Cheers!

I just had my bike serviced and did the oil change ( just ignored this issues thinking engine oil change may solve the issue)...have run about 700kms after the oil change..and i dont ride my bike that hard..i mainly use it to tour.. Air filter was pretty clean didn't need replacement.will anyway check the clutch plates..thanks.

I just had my bike serviced and did the oil change ( just ignored this issues thinking engine oil change may solve the issue)...i can feel the engine gets heated up a lil faster than usual. Is is required the change the coolant every year? Could there be anything related to Timing belt/valves adjustment?

Just for info, i went with Liqui Moly power pack, which had engine flush, engine oil and oil additive. Dont know if that has added to this..[emoji17]

I rode my friend's Dominar back to back...and my bike felt quite underpowered compared to Dominar..[emoji53]

Check the throttle body aswell , and engine completely . Also check if your radiator is running fine and has enough coolant .

I guess it should clean out the particles. I have also used the same for my bike the liqui moly performance pack and the oil tho I ride I CBR 250 it's got a full system and air filter. Bike runs pretty fine for 56k Kms.

It might even be worn out clutch plates, don't compare Ur bike to other bikes bro it simply bugs our head even if we show this to mech they won't be able to solve the issue and just say no Saar your bike is fine. My bike feels less eagerness compared to the test ride bike which is ridden twice the km to my bike.
I could easily make out the diff but they no Saar how can the test ride bike is powerful [emoji1751].

From your posts, I infer that you have replaced your inline fuel filter, replaced your engine oil, and the nitty gritties. Now, you didn't answer as to how much KMS your bike has actually run. If it's above 20k kms or above 17k+ and your valves clearances haven't been checked, it's the right time to do so. Secondly, if you've been following the oil replacement schedule judiciously, your clutch plates will last more than 30k plus easily.

Coolant have a life of over 2 years minimum. Replacing coolant every year isn't necessary. If the coolant level and the color of the color is as it should be, nothing to worry. Irrespective of the coolant color or level, it's good to replace coolant every two years, helps keep the cooling system clean.

There is no timing belt as such, the bike is driven by timing chain which is basically maintenance free. Valve clearances are to be inspected every 10k to 15k kms depending on the usage and riding pattern. If one rides it on the boil all the time, it's a good practice to inspect the valve clearances early, say few thousand KMS early than the recommended interval.

Start off by checking your valve clearances first. Secondly, make sure your spark plugs are cleaned and the cap is securely fit, and thirdly make sure the coolant level is right both on the reservoir and the radiator.

                                Keep your observations posted.

                                Hope it helps. Good luck.

                                Cheers!
