Exhaust shield bolts are tight enough in fact all the bolts/other parts are tight and well fit.
I used to change oil between 4000 - 5000 km range, last service was done in March.
But still I am facing that thud noise from rear side

Yes, handlebar weights are factory fitted.
Engine mount bolts are tight enough moreover that thud noise is only coming whenever the rear tyre go through any potholes or speed bumbs.
How much did the chain sprocket replacement cost ?

I am planning to get mine changed ODO @ 15K. Even after regular maintenance at every 3-4 weeks it has lasted only 15k km. The Chain and the sprockets are visibly in good condition but the slack of the chain is different at different location. Too tight at one point giving a weird noise while running. I am also planning to get the rear wheel bearings replaced.

Also at the regular service (oil, oil filter & air filter) is there anything else which need to be checked at 15k. I had just replaced the rear brake pads and the front looks like it will last another 1-2k Km.

    @B7ACKTHORN Your views please.

Even my bike is 15.8k old.. never looked after the chain and it's making that noise..

Btw u should replace airfilter every 7k I guess and fuel filter at every service..
My front pad lasted 14k and rear lasts for 7k. Have changed front once and rear twice till date.
And rear tyres are almost gone. Front still has some treads left

The replacement chain set for the Duke costs approximately Rs. 2800 to 3k including labor. At 15k, it's advised to check the front coneset for any play and also grease the coneset. If you haven't replaced your fork oil in a while, now is the right time to do so. Don't extend your front brake till it lasts another 1 to 2k. Replace the front brake pads. Remember, the front brakes are very, very vital when it comes to stopping, especially a bike such as the Duke. Make sure your old brake fluid both front and rear are thoroughly bled off and replaced with brand new DOT 4 grade brake fluid. Make sure the system is well bled off air. Make sure your main engine bolts are all torqued again, your battery terminals checked for any slack. This should tick the box for the 15k mark.

        Hope it helps.

        Cheers!

Thanks VJ. I'll try to get them all done. Isn't it a bit soon for the fork oil, it's my first 15k. And what about the rear bearings.

Thanks. Will get the fuel filter replaced this time. It's the first time I'm getting the pads changed. My rear too lasted 15k.

It's the right time to replace your fork oil. Fork oil replacement is scheduled at every 10 to 12k kms. Regarding bearings, you can check for play which I intended to mention earlier. Usually, bearings last quite a while. If you intend to, I'd say get it checked for any play and grease the bearings accordingly or replace if you observe any play. If you can, do check how well your battery is getting charged by the stator coil. This can be checked by using a multimeter at the terminals and the folks at SVC will do this. This is to make sure your stator coil and battery is healthy.

            Cheers!

Hi folks, an amateur question, but will be really helpful if someone answers this.
I recently got the delivery of Duke 390 and as mentioned in Manual recommended fuel of RON95 but as RON95 is not easily available, I did a full tank of RON91 (xtrapremium) petrol. After few days found a pump that gives RON 97 petrol Speed 97 and I had almost completed 300KMs so the tank was low on fuel, I decided to try the RON97 this time. The performance difference was evident. But the service manager at KTM adviced not to use anything above RON95 this can damage the engine parts. He infact advised that RON91 is recommended as it's available and it will only lag a bit of performance.

Is it true that RON97 can damage the engine parts, and if RON91 is recommended then, In Manual it's mentioned RON95.
Also asked the service manager if Octane Boosters are recommended with RON91 fuel?
He said Octane Boosters don't work what they advertise.

Would be really kind of you if someone can help me understand this and recommend which fuel to use on regular basis.

              Regards,
              Punit

I went to the svc to get my chain sprocket changed for now and when the mechanic was installing I just went to check the spare part and saw something like duke 390 my15 and noticed it's 45 teeth instead of 44. Firstly they were not ready to accept it's 44 teeth, later after checking they said they agree with me that new dukes comes with 44 teeth and they don't have that part in stock ( in 44 teeth each of the sprockets and chain comes as separate parts). 44 and 45 would hardly make any difference and I wouldn't mind some extra torque so I asked them to put them on.

Also I wanted to buy front brake pads since mine is almost nearing its end at 15k. I asked the svc manager to check the price and he said it's 350. I said it's for "390 FRONT" and the guy gave me a look and said it's 350. I said I've heard in forums of it costing around 2k and he started to literally argue with me. He said you can pay us 2k if you want but you'd still get 350 pads. He said every 390 serviced there goes with 350rs brake pad at front. For a while even I thought I was wrong. When my bike was almost done changing the chain sprockets this guy comes to me and says there's an OPTIONAL brake pads costing 1700 which they don't have in stock but they can order it if I pay advance. I asked him is it optional or is it the stock one, he didn't have an answer.

I am attaching the pics of my current front pads, how good does it look for some more time, although VJ did advice me to get them changed asap. I'll change it myself once I get the new ones, but have a look at these stock ones.

The 44/45 teeth is acceptable but how can they not know about different brake pads used in vehicles. God knows how many 390s they've serviced with 200s brake pads.

                      Guys ,

My 2018 model's front mud guard and suspension rod has small dots of yellow paint (wall paint) on them (probably due to painting in my apartment).

I want to remove them and was told a polish(500 INR) removes them in a shop where I usually get my bike washed. So my query is does polishing deteriorates the paint in any way ? is it worth to remove those marks ?

Are there any other alternatives ? dots of paint doesnt look really bad but can be identified easily on closer inspection.

If my memory serves me right, the Duke has 390 has always come with 15/45 sprocket setup, MY15. 45 offers slightly more torque compared to the newer 44 tooth setup. But the newer Dukes make it up for the sprocket tooth loss by having increased torque output to 37 nm, so technically in MY15 you lose a little bit of that punch if you use a 44 in your bike, though it won't make a big difference. All are six hole sprockets, so you have interchangeability right from 200 to 390 sprockets to play with.

Get yourself paint thinner from Sheenlac, they are those that come in brown bottle 80 odd rupees. They are very, very effective paint removers. Mildly dab in a cotton and rub where the splotches of paint are in your bike, it will go off in a second. Remember, use it very very little. Handle carefully, if you drop it on any paint surface, chances are you can ruin your other painted surface.

                        Cheers!

For all those who are suffering with thud noise from the rear side of the bike (Duke 390) that noise is coming from the suspension especially for 2017 model, go and get it replaced under warranty. All this time I was thinking it is because of the chain hitting on the swingarm, each and every svc I visited was claiming the same!

It sounds like chain is hitting on the swingarm and only happens when you go through speedbumps or potholes.
