Symptoms I had observed was my coolent tank was completely empty and the engine oil window was completely black. as this is my only bike to commute to office I had to use it as it is for more then 1000kms in Bangalore peak traffic for 50kms daily. And by the time I observed, the coolant was already empty. so i have ridden for about 2000kms in Bangalore bumper to bumper traffic with no coolant and the bike never stalled once and the fan used to kickin normally.

After the repair had to change the oil window glass as the old one was completely blacked out as in burnt on the inside.

I observed it when the odo was 11k and left it for repat when it was around 12k. Now after the repair it was around 13.5k

I had coolant leakage issue in my r15 when clamp on pipe connection to radiator had became loose. It was a pretty minor issue.

But I could make out performance decrease quiet clearly, with empty coolant tank. Dunno how its with 390.

After the repair I felt bike lost its smoothness and didn't notice any difference in performance. Had complained the same to mech and manager but they didn't accept event the test drive bike was smooth. Had kept quit as it is but later replaced the stock air filter then the bikes performance increased drastically. And later felt the vibration I felt was because of over tighting of the chain.

Guys, I am almost on the verge of becoming a proud Duke 390 rider 😊..
So wanted to buy a new helmet as well which matches with the character of the Duke 390 as its a more upright position riding.

Could you please suggest some helmets which will be perfect for the Duke 390 as I am planning to do touring on it too along with the city riding in Bangalore.

Budget would be upto 8k, but can extend if the Helmet is worth it.

I have looked into MT, LS2, SMK, HJC models but totally confused.

I am more inclined towards MT but it seems like MT helmets make a lot of wind noise.

Please give feedback on the ones you guys are using.

              Thank you.

Do checkout revolt helmets, they have pretty good stuff for the budget, wind noise is lesser than MT ones

                  Thank you for the feedback.

How's HJC CL 17? Little bit pricey but the problem is it doesn't match with the graphics of the white Duke 390..

Thanks guys. Will keep a check on coolant level. Though somewhere it was mentioned that 2018 models had the mixing issue sorted out.

Another thing, the claw shaped DRL, alongwith low beam on, is it too light during the day? I mean is it supposed to be that way?

Even I am on the verge of becoming a Duke 390 rider and this problem really worries me the core about the coolant mixing problem.
Even some 2018 models have reported the same issue, but I guess not as much as the 2017 models.

I have taken the plunge. Am coming from r15. You live only once. Having a European super naked is pretty much a must for bike ownership cv.

                                Interesting.. Viscous air filter.. hmm.
Maybe they have one as part of the EVAP system or secondary air injection or a simple copy paste mistake on their manual.
Viscous air filter are ones that have an oil layer on them (like the honda activa's etc.. or sponge type filters that are coated with oil e.g. rx100)
The older activa's (102cc) came with a dry paper type air filter while the secondary air filter (part of the sai system was a viscous sponge type)
The duke comes with a dry paper type air filter. (not sure if they too switched to a viscous type on newer models)
