as @ theironhorse99 pointed out, find an isolated road and practice.
hope you read about counter steering, that alone will boost your confidence a ton while taking a corner.. you don't have to scrape your knees, even taking a corner in normal riding style say in the ghats or likewise and using counter steering technique you will feel a lot more confident.
finish braking before you enter the corner, stay in the power band (right gear vs rpm), counter steering and accelerating smoothly out of the corner-- these are what you have to be able to do blindly.
forget what your friends say, you don't have to scrape your knees or get rid of the chicken strips on normal road riding.. slowly improve your confidence level. and do not take corners like some pros do, on public roads.. they do it after knowing what the corner is like and checking it out multiple times i.e. they do it in controlled environments. so pushing it hard in to a corner on public roads where you have no prior idea about it is a risk imo. know your and the bikes limits and ride accordingly, no need to please anyone

folks who ride with me (including theironhorse99 and other buddies from this forum) know how i ride
one guy even laughed when i said i popped a wheelie on my D200! I prefer to be safe than sorry.. getting old you see!!if you are very serious about scraping knees and getting rid of chicken strips, i suggest you invest some time and money and ride around a track like the mmsc.
