I have don about 1k km on the bike which included a 700km ride on one day. The bike did perform as expected. But I found some very disappointing things that the showroom mechanic missed to adjust. the main thing was the rear tyre was misaligned. They spent almost 5 hours of PDI, and still they missed it. Did get very angry, but got home and adjusted it myself and it is now very satisfying. Other than that there are some common issues faced by others as well, like the front panels buzzing and the chain roller noise, which, I hope, will be rectified in the first service. Chain cleaning is cumbersome though. Will update how the first service goes.

CASA TVS, Vijayawada has zero hospitality.

I feel disappointed with that showroom especially because, I paid the total amount for the bike 10 days in advance. I took the delivery late. all the bikes due for delivery were very dusty. PDI took almost 5 to 6 hours. They did not even offer water the whole time. Even after such detailed PDI, they missed such essential things.

          • 8000 KMS Ride Report

            *LONG POST ALERT*

I got my bike delivered on 30-Jul so it's been almost 3 months and close to 8000 kms of riding so far. I used to ride a Karizma ZMR for my city duties and now RR310 is performing those city duties and long distance riding as well. I have completed 2 services and both were extremely reasonable, costing between 1200 - 1400 bucks. I am very happy with the servicing experience and both the bike and owner's concerns were addressed well. It was up to the mark and I get regular calls both from TVS Harekrishna and TVS company to check feedback, sometimes one too many calls. I got some basic accessories done for the bike like frame sliders, fork sliders, rear spools, fuel cap protector, tinted windscreen, mobile holder with 5V charger, laminated console. Hoping someone makes a seat cowl for the bike soon! It's in my wish list.

Few Issues I have faced (Note: This is my personal experience and may not be the case for all owners)
            1. Stalling Issue (Still an issue but happens rarely) - As a new owner, prior to first service I used to literally stall the bike in city almost 2-3 times everyday. I used to think end of the day, damn I thought today will be the day this bike won't stall on me. Anyways, the stalling issues reduced a lot post first service and it's not completely gone yet but very rarely do I stall the bike now. It could be that this bike needs a bit extra throttle input before leaving the clutch lever completely in first gear. Just my guess.
            2. Vibrations (Minor Issue, not very bothersome) - The bike has prominent vibrations in handle bars beyond 105 kmph, not so much in pegs or seat or tank but yes handle bar I can feel the vibes when I cross triple digit speed. It's very much evident. I shift a tad early around 4-5K rpm so below 100 kmph the bike is smooth for me. I have no vibey sensation anywhere and it's a nice and calm ride, Thank God for that. P.S. Yes, I mostly wear leather gloves while riding this bike.
            3. False Neutrals (Rarity but happens) - Can be avoided if I am cautious or situation does n't demand but quite often I end up in Neutral while trying to shift to second gear. Happens usually in traffic where the speeds are slow.
            4. Hard Downshifts (Fixed Now) - This I only observed when I was returning after a very rugged ride from Sach Pass and Zanskar Valley. My bike was close to its 2nd service interval and only in stop and go traffic my bike was struggling to downshift without hard inputs from me. (This was fixed in my 2nd Service post which the bike was perfectly downshifting again)
            5. Headlight Misalignment (Fixed Now) - Like most reviews I saw before buying, I was expecting poor throw from the headlights as many reviews suggested and honestly till first service I did feel that night riding will be miserable in this bike. But I also noticed that some part of the beam used to show me bats hanging on trees (Pun Intended) so clearly I knew what to ask when I went for first service. The mechanic had some markings in one of the walls and he did the adjustment basis my requirements. I am not kidding post alignment, I have been able to ride super comfortably at night. Although I would like TVS to fix the alignment issue from factory and think of providing slightly more powerful LED's for high beam if at all possible.
            6. Abrupt Fueling - I used to fill the fuel to the brim (not recommended) to get that extra 20-25 kms range during a long ride but I used to get jerks and those fuel hiccups while accelerating right after fueling for few odd kms. I don't know if it was because of pressure building inside the tank due to excess fuel than normal level or something else. But Yeah, I stopped filling it to the brim and the problem got fixed.
            7. Starter Issue - Okay this problem I only experienced in Mountains during Sach Pass and Zanskar Ride. So the bike never used to start on first crank and always used to religiously start on second attempt. Lol! I know it sounds weird but yeah what else can I do if the bike does not start at first go. I try again right. P.S. This is not just cold start, it used to happen even during our day. It religiously required two attempts to get it started.

Few things which I feel TVS can improve in the next iteration
            1. Improving front brake lever feedback - Right now you need to grab a handful in hard braking to see some quick stoppage. It's not very sharp for hard riding.
            2. Slipper Clutch Addition - Please TVS! If you are reading this, please for god sake add Slipper Clutch in this motorcycle. When I am riding in ghats and I believe this might hold true even for track riding (yet to experience) I feel the need to shift to lower gear at times while speeding and the effect of engine braking is way too much. The bike is super fun in twisties and with slipper clutch addition (I heard rumors its coming in next iteration) it will allow aggressive deceleration without hiccups.
            3. Exhaust Note - It's not that great and wish for slightly more deeper tone than outright angry sound that the bike has right now. Although at higher gears it does get smooth and feels good.

            Good Bits
            1. The Design and Looks - It's WOW! The paint scheme, the way the design elements flow perfectly. Its just WOW!
            2. Although I would prefer a regular horizontal display layout, I must commend TVS for sharing the sheer amount of information in the Console. It's super cool with all the details it captures.
            3. The Rider Seat is so good it's hard to not applaud it. I have done multiple 500+ kms day rides on this thing and phew! My back side is perfectly happy if you know what I mean.
            4. I love the Aerodynamics the bike has to offer and the rider ergonomics is perfect for my riding style. I love it. It's nimbleness, agility is perfect. Its such a blessing to ride it in city conditions. Think of the gap where you want to go and there she goes.
            5. Michelin Pilot Sport although may not be on Metzeler Level in terms of stickiness and grip but they offer great feedback in all types of riding conditions. And I am able to pull out great mileage out of it. No sign of wear yet!
            6. Fuel Efficiency is great. I used to get between 280 - 320 kms range on every tank full on open highways. Damn happy with the FE this bike delivers. Actually this is one parameter I would say literally boils down to how you ride, where you ride and how well you have maintained the bike. City I usually end up between 30-32 kmpl and Highways 32-34 kmpl. If I am super easy on throttle and just cruising along then well I have got as much as 36 kmpl too.
            7. Suspension is sublime. Its set up perfectly for road riding and can take some amount of off road terrain too if you ride cautiously. Its not a bumpy ride on bad roads and on good roads it soaks up the undulations well. For track riding, it might be slightly on the softer side I feel.

One Place where I would prefer not riding the RR310? In Stop and Go traffic for more than 10 minutes. My left fingers beg for mercy thanks to the super hard clutch pull. Clutch pull relatively easy on open roads and regular riding but bring in a little bit of choke block traffic and it will burn your fingers.

Enough of write up, time for some pics.

TVS Apache 310 owner has spend Rs 3 lakhs on modifying his bike to make it look like BMW S1000RR. Also installed Kawasaki Z800 exhaust.
