Has anyone tried Motul 7100 fully synthetic Engine Oil yet?

        • Re: TVS Apache RR310

In the service manual I saw one of the recommended engine oil is Motul 3000 15w50. It is cheap, I have to give that, but are we supposed to last 9/10 thousand kms on 1.7 litre of that? It is cheaper than a bottle of hoegaarden! I used costlier oil on my old rtr 200 and they lasted two and a half thousand! Please do tell if you know..

It has been two weeks I got it, so I thought now it is ok if i peek beneath the veil- I opened the front seat. I found a battery, with one terminal covered with a red tab, other exposed. Next minute i was flying to the showroom only for the technician to tell me that they cover only the positive terminal, since that is the naughty one. The negative means no harm. it is a nice story, and I really appreciate their weight cutting measures, but could someone please clarify if this is indeed the case.

Cleaned and lubed the chain today, it is a calming blood pressure reducing sim bursting experience. i look forward to the next one.

            About Engine oil:

Well the engine oil can last upto 9-10k kms but personally I don't recommend doing so. I think one should replace it in every 5k kms for smoother running of engine.

Coming to the recommended oil, I seriously believe that shifting to the fully synthetic oil will make the bike very smooth (I have been using Motul 7100 in my Gixxer sf and it does create a hell of a difference). It will be costlier though.. around 1.5k for 2L but it will make the bike very very smooth.

Coming to the covered battery terminals:

Not sure about RR but I have seen "the +ve terminal covered only" thing is many vehicles so it might be the same in case of RR.

Does dealers charge 3k for PDI ans other stuff?

In my city, the dealer said that 3k is for 5L of fuel, engine oil and coolant top up and pdi which takes about 3 hrs to do.

The dealer cannot charge you for PDI or any top up at delivery. It is an indirect way of making money ,usually they say it as registration charges but you should ask them to give the official bill and then check it . TVS owners can respond on the specific dealer or you can look up TVS website or helpline and complain.

I did ask them but they said that "Sir, all superbikes goes through this extensive process in which we are giving 5L of fuel, top up of engine oil and coolant and a 3hrs of extensive pdi and updates"

They are charging 3000 for this.

They cannot charge you for PDI. Escalate the issue to TVS customer care.

Also ask them for a bill for this 3k

Urgent Question 2 (please do respond):

Can I know what was the top speed of the bike when you guys bought it? Also the kms completed? I mean before taking the delivery of the bike.

I went to the showroom in my city (Bhubaneswar) to choose one and there were in total 7 bikes. But all of them have done around 115km/hr to 125km/hr. And the odo reading was below 10kms for every bike.

The kms Gained in the odo is understandable but does the bike gets delivered to the customer with that kind of top speed already achieved?

It's Ok Buddy, my bike too had the top speed of 110km/hr & 5kms ridden while taking the delivery, those kms & speed are achieved while testing the bike after build up...

                            So don't worry about it.

Thanks everyone for helping me out in clearing my doubts about this bike.

Bought it yesterday and so far I am loving the bike much more than I expected. Vibrations are very less compared to 1st gen bike.
