Re: TVS Apache RR310
First ride reviews of bmw310R have started to pour in. And it doesn't bode well for rr310's distant cousin
. Initial ride report indicates the same vibration issues in BMW sports naked bike.
The new BMW G310R and G310GS will be launched in India on the 18th July 2018. Ahead of the launch, a Bajaj Dominar owner has gone ahead and posted review.
"there wasn’t an opportunity to test the bike’s top speed. Engine vibration finds a sweet spot at 90 KM/H, with vibes felt through the frame, saddle and grips increasing beyond 6000 rpm. The tank is narrow so spreading your knees and heels slightly to avoid direct contact helps isolate the rider from the engine’s vibes.” – Stig Sarangi, Motostories.
Seems like, even the mighty BMW can't tune the engine to perfection. With a heavy price tag and vibey engine, BMW may not lure much customers except fanboys. People who testride the bike & who spends a little fortune for a 300cc bike will be definitely put off by this. Glad I jumped in the Apache rr 310 bandwagon early without waiting for this bike

Re: TVS Apache RR310
Tried removing the wheel hugger myself. Not from the axle though.
Pretty easy job and can be fitted back any time at home. Will remove from the axle during service.
The hugger and the supporting metal parts itself would weight at least 2kg and of great quality.
Now the bike looks super hot, with exposed rubber..
!!.

Post the pricing details, interested to know if you are going ahead with the 310GS or waiting for a test ride? Sorry to post this in the RR310 thread.Originally posted by nasirkaka View Postthanks Sheik Mohamed, dineshaugustin and mayor 392 on your inputs. Much assuring this is.
I do understand that the mapping would be different on 310gs and being an adventure category bike, it should hopefully be tuned more towards low-end and mid-range usable torque. But as the basic engine architecture is shared between the RR310 and 310GS the soul will remain similar even if the character differs. I ride a versys 650 which shares its engine platform with ninja 650, vulcan 650 and Er6n. All these bikes are tuned differently, but the general feel is more or less same, if u get what i am saying. Going by the feedback here, i get positive vibes. Am almost sold on that bike, a test ride hopefully seal it for me. Thanks!!

Re: TVS Apache RR310
First service done at 1050kms, receipt attached.
Cost seems reasonable. .
TVS is charging for Motul C1 and C2, which is optional though, but still i would have expected them to do the cleaning and include them in consumables. Using a new bottle for every customer and giving them back the remaining is totally unnecessary and should asked owners permission since the entire bottle amount being charged. If chain maintenance is a mandatory (which i don't think so) in service then shall be done within the consumables and labor charge.
For me this C1 and C2 is not at all necessary since i already have other products and the cleaning job from svc is not at all good. So basically they have charged me Rs. 450 (150ml each) additionally in the name of chain maintenance which i told them specifically not to do.
So the amount should have been Rs.1185 ( barring the c1&c2)
Regarding the bike, ride feels very smooth and the gear shift has become super smooth. Vibration near tank is still there but very minimum (typical big single cylinder). Engine sound also very refined and no rattling sound from the fairing. As per TVS chain shall be adjusted every 1000kms, and my bike chain did get loose before service, now after tightening the chain sound is almost gone . They have used motul mineral oil. I will have to wait for few more days to know exactly how the bike feels after 1st service.
Iam consistently getting 29-33 in city which more that what i expected from RR. Yet to do long rides, which will be in coming weekends. Please fell free to ask any clarifications, i will be happy to clarify to my best.

Re: TVS Apache RR310
Sorry to reply here, booked the baby GS day before yesterday. Its overpriced for sure by about 50K but i managed to take a small test ride and liked the bike. I currently ride a versys 650 and felt that G310GS broadly has everything which versys offers, except power, which i am not after. Looking for a light weight comfortable commuter which the baby GS seems to fit in well. looking forward to the delivery which they said will take around 2 months..Originally posted by whencut86 View PostPost the pricing details, interested to know if you are going ahead with the 310GS or waiting for a test ride? Many asc do this for the chain clean/lube.. some of them you never know what product was and they charge a bomb, which i too think is a total rip off. I am lucky that the svc i go to for my ktm happily uses the product i provide or i just get it done using the used engine oil.. all for free.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View PostTVS is charging for Motul C1 and C2, which is optional though, but still i would have expected them to do the cleaning and include them in consumables. Re: TVS Apache RR310
There is a aluminum washer called CRUSH WASHER which is generally used on slightly high-end bikes. Its made out of soft metal alloy and CRUSHES on torque application and makes the seal. This washer is recommended to be replaced during every oil change, the drain bolt remains same. Wonder what these guys are upto, please catch and ask for details. And why a new drain bolt ? are replacing the drain bolt at every oil change ?

I sent a mail to TVS customer care regarding this motul charges. Immediately i got a call from SVC. They wanted to discuss this motul C1&C2 charges, and the TVS territorial manager also joined us in conference call. So the discussion went for around 10mins which also includes some feed back about RR.
Ultimately the SVC did the mistake. There are two options. 1. Pay for motul c1 and c2 and take the remaining lube with us, ( their reson, chain needs clean and lube every 500km and this can will come for 4 to 5 times, but i told them this is not the decision TVS can make on behalf of customers but the customers themselves.) or 2. Pay some odd Rs.100 they will clean and lube without charging for Motul C1&C2. This SVC guys didn't inform me during job card registration.
They offered my full refund, but since i already have the remaining C1&C2 cans, i didnt accept for refund.
Iam pretty much happy with the way TVS handle the customer care complaints.

That's really good news. Looks like TVS is pretty Serious about their premium customers. Hope it doesn't fizzle out after a couple of years.Originally posted by dineshaugustin View PostAn update :

If one sends a polite complaint or feedback via proper channel, most companies will respond n take it up. Just my experience with different companies.Originally posted by leech View PostThat's really good news. Looks like TVS is pretty Serious about their premium customers. Re: TVS Apache RR310
So, I did my first highway ride on RR last Saturday after crawling in city for almost a month. Me and my friend planned this trip for long time and finally we were able to do it.
Coming to RR, one thing almost everyone would agree is that, RR is a looker. It looks like a proper super sports bike from any angle. It grabs every eye ball on its way.We had to answer many question wherever we had a pit stop. Even we used to hear whispers like " woow, That's RR" in traffic.
The bike did a fantastic job on highway. It cruises effortlessly and it masks the speed pretty much. The power delivery as mentioned by many is very linear and i felt complete control even tough it was a small stretch.
The most impressive thing about RR is how stable the bike is on highway. The chassis, suspension and the tyres compliments each other and provides a fantastic stability and superb riding pleasure on highway. Windscreen does the job well, but on heavy upwind, after 90kmph one can feel the wind blast above the chest area if seated upright.
Another thing which i liked the most is the way it corners. It will demand you to push more and one can carry out more cornering speed with complete confidence. Credit goes to the chassis and the perfectly tuned suspension. Having low center of gravity, the bike is very easy to flick around in back to back corners. The tyre also has excellent grip and the profile is well suited for corners.
Total kms for the tips was about 250kms. Onward trip was slow with speed hovering between 60 to 70 ( since the climate was very chill we decided to ride slow and feel the air for about 50kms.) , and then we maintained the speed between 70 to 90 kmph with occasional burst in between where i was able to do 145kmph effortlessly. The route is not so safe for high speed cruising, with the absence of median and hence we decided not to do much of high speed runs.
The most surprising thing about the RR, how fuel efficient the bike is. Thanks to the longer final drive ratio with superb torque throughout the rev range coupled with good fueling, RR seems to the the most fuel efficient bike in its segment. It returned me 41 kmpl for the entire trip (and the console reading is pretty much accurate and is similar to T2T method). Maintaining steady speed, with linear throttling is the key here. Despite having smaller tank capacity, RR can give good tank range and there by compensating for the smaller tank capacity. One can expect atleast 350KMs range if ridden below 100kmph on 6th gear.
Now coming to the not so good bits:- The bike vibrate bit more post 120kmph on 6th gear, thanks to the big single cylinder engine. If 120+kmph is your cruising speed, then vibration might be an issue for you depends on the tolerance level . But between 60 to 90kmph on 6th, the refinement is almost similar to unicorn.
- The seat foam, I felt a bit softer for my liking since iam used to the hard seat on my Hunk. Hope i get used to it as I do more rides.
- The brake though has excellent bite overall, but i feel the initial bite and lever feedback is less ( only on front) . May be it is the way TVS has tuned the brakes, but personally i would prefer some more initial bite and feedback on lever.
- The bike pulls towards right side if I take my hands off from the handlebar ( regardless of whatever speed may be). I came to know that few other owners are also having this issue. Need to visit SVC regarding this.
- The mirrors get blury post 5000 rpm and not able to see clearly whats going on behind especially during night time. TVS must fix this issue for the sake of safety.
- I feel the handle bar gripping width is not sufficient. Once we put the gloves there is no space to change our grip position except for only one. A little more space would have given the option for slightly wider grip.
My odo currently stands on 1400 kms, and the bike is getting better day by day. TVS also working on this vibration issue and will be updated to our bikes soon at free of cost.
Despite the few niggles which i mentioned above, I am extremely happy as an owner.
Didn't take any pics except for one or two. We were more interested in exploring RR so we hardly took any pics. If you have any queries, feel free to quote me, i will try my best to clarify the doubts.
Out meeting point.
Total Kms for the trip. Did a tankful and then started the trip. We can see the amount of fuel left ( total capacity being 11L approx) after completing the 250kms.
No need for any description
.
I will post a complete review once i munch more than 2000kms or so.Last edited by dineshaugustin; 07-31-2018, 10:03 AM.

Wonderful review of your experience. That's a very good mileage shown over there. I was reading the Manual & it says around 1 to 1.2 litres for every bar in the fuel indicator(11L total capacity, 11/9). Considering your tank is full before you started this trip, Did the bike consumed only 3.6 litres of petrol for your entire 256 km trip? Then Mileage figures should be way higher!!!
