Hey guys, i need your help again. I am slowly learning the basics of motorcycle. I read twist of the wrist vol II to improve my riding skills. I can follow all the advise in that book except leaning in corners. I just cant lean in the corner due to fear that i will low-side. i know the tires will hold me. But at the last second i chicken out. My friends say if i dont lean, the tires will wear unevenly & lead to frequent tire change. If there are any veteran riders, pls share some insights to control the fear. How did you overcome that?
riding comes from experience, not just reading the book. so get out there and try to implement what you learnt.
as @ theironhorse99 pointed out, find an isolated road and practice.
hope you read about counter steering, that alone will boost your confidence a ton while taking a corner.. you don't have to scrape your knees, even taking a corner in normal riding style say in the ghats or likewise and using counter steering technique you will feel a lot more confident.
finish braking before you enter the corner, stay in the power band (right gear vs rpm), counter steering and accelerating smoothly out of the corner-- these are what you have to be able to do blindly.

forget what your friends say, you don't have to scrape your knees or get rid of the chicken strips on normal road riding.. slowly improve your confidence level. and do not take corners like some pros do, on public roads.. they do it after knowing what the corner is like and checking it out multiple times i.e. they do it in controlled environments. so pushing it hard in to a corner on public roads where you have no prior idea about it is a risk imo. know your and the bikes limits and ride accordingly, no need to please anyone
folks who ride with me (including theironhorse99 and other buddies from this forum) know how i ride one guy even laughed when i said i popped a wheelie on my D200! I prefer to be safe than sorry.. getting old you see!!

if you are very serious about scraping knees and getting rid of chicken strips, i suggest you invest some time and money and ride around a track like the mmsc.

Didn't know top speed of the bike is the most important thing, 98% of the bike owners don't go the track and you reach the top speed of your bike only once or twice a year! The argument over top speed is just cringy. Grow up you people. Stop embarrassing yourself, this is a forum to talk about the ownership or test ride experience of the 310RR and not about how the CBR or the RC is better. 😑

Don't worry bro. If you have issues with the bike then just post it here and then tag the mods or PM them.

They are knowledgeable and they will help. It's an unfortunate thing but in xbhp if you post anything negative about TVS products two guys will always attack you (I know since I have seen this on rtr200 thread as a owner).

Thank you for providing one more perspective (of a former ninja owner).

Twist of the Wrist is not for beginner riders. If you want to learn the basics of riding, then watch certain videos on youtube that are made by Motorcycle Training instructors. The one that I prefer is Roadcraft Nottingham. Your friends dont know what they are talking about. If you are riding in teh city most of the time, there is no need to lean the bike into the corners just to get rid of chicken strips. Infact if you are following road rules properly, there is absolutely no way you will be leaning the bike that low to get rid of the chicken strips in the first place.

Different tyres respond to different conditions differently. You will need to understand this gradually.

How sweet! Helping everyone in the forum! Isn't it? How knowledgeable! Owns all the motorcycles, isn't it?

Grow up. There are many people who thought they had issues. Cleared them all, everyone is living a life. Except you. Get out of the keyboard war, warrior.

This is not true, kerosene can be used to clean chain. Although petrol should be avoided.

Did my first service yesterday. The bike feels much more refined and calm while riding now & the bike exhaust sounds different now, like its been dipped in water.

i enquired many topics with the 310 expert engineer that are often discussed here.
1) vibrations: I told him to use the 3mm rubber paddings in fairings, but he said the company hasn't given any instructions like that to them. so he cant do that officially. He asked me to use a foam glove to reduce vibrations.. Yup, that was the reply from an engineer. I told him i already use one & still feel the vibes. He had no answer for that. Then i asked him to tighten all bolts in the fairing and other parts. After tighting, the bikes viby feelings has reduced significantly.

2) He used motul 5100 engine oil for me. Told me it was cheap and best. Regarding the clunky gear box, he test rided the bike and made some change. After service, the 5th to 6th gear feel smooth now. but the first three gears are still hard.

3) Regarding the mileage of the bike, i asked whether it is ok to drive in 45-50ish range in top gear for a long time. He blasted me not to drive like that ever again. He then gave some technical explanations about how engine struggles at low speeds in tallest gear and advised me not to damage the engine for the sake of fuel economy in the long run. He insisted to maintain the 45 km speed at 3rd gear.

4) i asked whether i can use kerosene for cleaning chain instead of Motul lube(to save money). He said nope.

5) He changed oil filter. But did not change the air filter.

Asked him what are the things that i can do to maintain the bike till the next service. His tips are 1) Always check the tire pressure every week & keep at 32 psi. Always fill it with nitrogen. No normal air. 2)Always maintain min 3l petrol. 3) lube the chain every 500 km. Also he taught me how to use the toolbox set given with the bike.
My 1st service costed 1247 rupees. For the 1st time i drove 400 km yesterday. Also i had a near death experience when going to showroom during travel. Glad I am alive now. Ride safe guys.

Okay. So people I can officially tell it now.

TVS has already rolled out updated parts for the motorcycle.

1. Bar end weights. Reduces whatever slight buzz by 80-85% now.
2. Visor got new mounts from the inside.
3. Mirrors got rubber bushes now with slightly heavier mirrors.

The roll out is gradual, however Mumbai svcs have already gotten them.

So walk into the svcs and get these things, makes the bike even better than what it was.

Have you installed the updated parts? How does it feel? Are the updates free or optional purchase?

I had a feeling the vibes would reduce with heavier bar end weights. Same case with another bike the name of which I cannot recall at present.

Yea you are right.
The buzz ( not vibs) is exactly near the gripping part of the handle bar. So with bar end weights i think it will reduce drastically. Tank or foot rest has no vibs or buzz at all.
after 4K there is literally zero vibration.
