I have used it in my car, not on my FI, so cant really comment how it is for the bike's engine.

BTW do you know the place in INDORE where i can get SHELL?

            Thanks all

Quick thoughts on the bike -
            1. It is devilishly quick. (I try to keep the bike below 4K but not always possible )
            2. Gear shifts are good so far (though it's a bit hard)
            3. Brakes are good but wish the tires were good (the rear fishtails quite a bit under hard braking. Or maybe I don't brake properly )
            4. Don't have the mileage figures but I think it is around 35-40 kmpl.
            5. Kick starting is a problem (have to kick a lot before it roars.) Self start conked off within a week. However the service center people managed to solve it (button problem).
            6. City riding involves a lot of gear shift. I have to shift to 1st gear every time i stop. The bike struggles to move even in 2nd gear after stopping (terrible loss of power). Does anybody face this problem?

OT - Since I can't ride fast, I try to ride quick. I shift gears in 3.5k-4k band. Is it ok or should I refrain from doing this since the bike is new?

            Thanks!

              * yes the bike is real quick..., :P reminds of rx100 doesn't it?

              * i too couldn't control bike under 50km.. i used to go in 70s coz its 30kms of 6lane highway for me to coll everyday n is tempting to open every day... NOW MY BIKES DONE 8.5K KMS n doing great

*be careful during braking., more pressure towards front brakes. try brake+shift down technique "if u need it"

              *mileage may increase after services..,

*for me kick starting was/is never a prob.. one kick start. self button kind of going bad now..

*u shift to 1st coz i think "finding neutral is like going on a treasure hunt" :P .. anyways i have moved my bike from stop in 5th gear.. anybody tried this???? its funny

RTR losing power in 2nd gear..hearing this for the first time dude..The bike has got enormous amount of torque in each & every gear....it propels forward in 2nd gear effortlessly in half clutch from stop...please check your clutch settings from the service centre

                      35-40kmpl sounds yummy...

Kick starting is a problem (have to kick a lot before it roars.) Self start conked off within a week. However the service center people managed to solve it (button problem).

The bolds are simply yelling at top of their lungs that your bike is running lean, richen the mixture by 1/4 of a turn, and the bike will beat in first kick.

City riding involves a lot of gear shift. I have to shift to 1st gear every time i stop. The bike struggles to move even in 2nd gear after stopping (terrible loss of power). Does anybody face this problem?

RTR is dead (read no fun, no linear torque curve, lots of compression knock, engine sounding strained when ridden below 4000 at higher gears, read 4th and 5th mainly, and the situation gets worse when it has two on board.
That's simply cuz the bike has all the fun, poke, pull, scream, strength etc above 5000RPM, so if you're not revving the nuts off this thing, it wont be happy..

You just cant putter around comfortably in city at 40kmph in 5th gear like you do in DAZZLER, UNI, or the GS150, in the RTR (160,FI, and the 180)

One has to come to 1st gear while one stops, i didnt got what you're tryin to say here....

Tts basically a good habit and it should be ritually done as when you blip and downshift while coming to a hault, you give gearbox the "matchin of rev" thing as you blip and downshift that ultimately results in butter smooth shifts in RTR, and is safe as you're slowing the bike down by brake and engine braking both,.

Since I can't ride fast, I try to ride quick. I shift gears in 3.5k-4k band. Is it ok or should I refrain from doing this since the bike is new?

It's perfectly fine, you can stretch that 4000 limit to 4500 and occational bursts till 5500.
                      Bolds.

Go for the fully synth, petronas is the cheapest and good, and if you're not able to find one go for the MOTUL or SHELL or Veedol SS.
                      POWER 1 is good too.

Now how do I richen the mixture. Would appreciate if you could guide me.

I wish I could do that during the running in period. And I fully agree ^^

It's basically when slowing down and then moving immediately. I need to shift to 1st gear else the engine simply struggles.

The 180 has better LET and is much more lively when it comes to pottering around town in top gear at 3k-4k rpm. It wont knock at 3k rpm when given the stick at top gear. Fi wakes up only after 4-4.5k but that's a different story.

Get it done at the SC, just dont listen to him when he tells you that the carb will suffer frm adjustments (BS), the engine will blow (BS), the milaege will come down by 15-20 (It will come down but by 3-5kmpl in 1/4 of rich'nin)

It's basically when slowing down and then moving immediately. I need to shift to 1st gear else the engine simply struggles.

You can pull the bike cleanly from 2nd gear, though it requires 2000-2500 to get moving, and if you're not gonna apply the correct "Acccelarating while leaving the cluth" or Right input while dumping the clutch", the bike will knock in 1st gear, Single.(Not just RTR, any bike will do)

Though i haven't drivven the 180 extensively,(Too bad you aren't livin in INDORE or i'am in BBSR, we would have exchanged our bikes then ) but the RTR will drive in 3000RPM, in top gear only if you're gonna come to that rpm from say 60-70 kmph, then the engine will be running all fine without the signs of showin stress, specially in FI (You can hear the piston working and super compression knocks)

But if we engage the 5th, in, say 3000-3500 rpm after pulling the bike only to 3000 RPM in all the rest lower gears, the bike never feels comfy in the "region" (Or heck i'am just too used to that fckin addective power rush of the FI after that 5000 RPM )
