  • @paul- there is no dearth of donkeys like that in this world. You search for one and 10 will come out. That is a glamor which is married with the body of pulsar. I am sure all of the parts will have been bought from friendly kabbardi wala. What a perfect way to ruin a good bike.

@shoeb- Thanks for the appreciation and tuning on non resistor plug is easier and sound change is easily noticeable.

I have been helping all here but my own bike is in dire need of my help.
My joy is presently needing the following works:-
    1. Clutch plate replacement
    2. Clutch housing and GPT replacement
    3. Head cleaning
    4. Clutch cable change
    5. timing chain pushrod and asociated parts.
    6. Also not urgent but lock set change as it is still the OE that came from factory
    7. Front brake switch as after 12 years it has finally spent its life. Again a factory item.
But i am now at 170 km from bhubaneswar and will do it when i go on saturdays and sundays. This week i didn't go as i have come only on friday as wednesday and thursday was bank strike. My extreme is running like crazy as i am using it to go to home and come back. After i complete my joy pending work, i will bring it to my work place once in every month.

But before working on my joy i have to repair my sister pleasure as it is demanding attention. Following works need to be done:-
    1. Gearbox oil seal replacement- requires opening of full drive section and drum.
    2. Head cleaning- requires dismounting of engine from chassis.
    3. During free service the idiots had destroyed head cover mounting screw and i had fixed it using gasket sealant but now it is leaking like crazy, so i will have to rethread the camshaft holder in lathe so that head cover can be mounted properly and tightly.
    4. front wheel bearing needs to be changed and also the suspension bush.
    5. Changing the front cowl as the mountings have broken due to an accident.

So next sunday will go in my sister bike repairing and then the next sunday will be my Joy.

Sorry,I was unable to source the Joy's petrol tank for you. Still trying whenever I am going to the main market. It is so sad that 99% of them even don't know about this bike.

If possible, please upload some pictures of the work carried out on-to Picasa. I never got a chance to see the internals of a engine used in Honda Automatic 100 & 109 cc series.
Also post the pictures of the old parts of joy,I want to see how it looks after 3.20 lac kms.

My heartfelt Thanks a lot SIBUN to teach me how to read an engine and AFR.
Mileage has gone up from 65 to 72 in peak city traffic. Cruising at highway speeds is altogether a different case now which I will talk about it later.
Yes same case with me too, it was difficult before, now the bike is responding better.
My mileage in city was 55, after change to U4A i went to highway drive at full throttle and wanted to seize my engine but it didn't , mileage got was 50 kpl, no performance decreases after highway riding. Now on the same tuning, i got 63 on city checked only once.

MINDA is best, i've changed it.
hehehe.... imagine 220 is going at 10 kph, it had two silencer, headlight & backlight are glowing. Wait a minute! something crazy is happening, a person who is driving is paddling like bajaj LUNA. Sounds wired right? But its true i went to have fuel few months ago, and a luna crossed thereby with full 220 body with double silencers and two persons were sitting, and was paddling.
I was night time, for the first few minutes, i was like . and then i was not able to stop laughing when i realized its not 220 its luna

After filling, i move to follow them, but don't know where they had gone.

Nothing to feel sorry as i am glad that you tried for me. Nothing to worry as i have made a list of almost 200 parts and still writing as many small and big items i am writing, which will be sent to HERO directly as special order. You see i will re-built my bike to factory like as you see on RX thread. However it will take 2 years as i will collect all spares and then i will run it some more as presently engine is as good as new and chassis and body is also as good as new. You have seen the photos. It feels as tight as my extreme even now and there is not a single noise even when riding on potholed roads.
Rest assured i will post photos of all the work done on pleasure. since complete engine is not opened so only the work done will be posted, i.e opening the gear box and the head.
Regarding old parts you will see nothing different as it is almost new. But i will like to add that i do not doubt that the brake switch will be defective as i think some wire near tank will be cut. Previously it had happened and the wire was cut. I will search the wires near tank.

See, i told you that night that mileage and performance will increase and also spark plugs defect is of many types rather than a single type.

Wait for some more and your mileage will increase more as the better firing will burn off all the carbon.
regarding seizing the engine then it is very difficult to seize this engine, no matter how much you torture it.

Also i will like to add a funny incident with me.

So the situation is like this:-

As you all know that i had bought a stunner for my cousin brother. So the thing is that he and his younger brother both ride the stunner in nearby areas as i do not allow them outside because they do not wear helmet and also drive rashly. So no bike for them to outside of colony.
Now the thing is that my cousin brother is only after style and do not see what is inside of the thing. He bought stunner because of style and nothing else as he doesn't know a letter on bikes. He likes all bikes which are stylish.
Now the thing is that those are mummy's boy and they have ridden only self start bikes(stunner has self start bikes and their friends are quite rich so they have also high end bikes with self start).

One day he asked for the keys of my joy to test ride( all in my family know that i do not lent my joys key to anyone even in family), but that day i lent it. The fact is that my cousin brother do not like my joy because it is not stylish, has no name in market and also is quite old. he doesn't know about quality, smoothness, power and economy, so he doesn't like my joy.
He first tried to start it and he couldn't even depress the kick, he was surprised. He tried but he didn't have the strenght to depress the kick. And he is all of 17 years. finally i started the bike and he rode it in the colony. When he returned he was amazed by the smoothness and also the sound. He was also pleased by the pull as my joy pulls like locomotive i.e smooth and with slight throttle input. I laughed hard when he couldn't kick as i know the compression is too hard for even me, but since i am quite strong i kick it easily.
I am really surprised and the new kids have no respect to our old gen bikes. It is not about bike, but about the mind of these people. If they do not care about old bikes that reflects that they do not respect the old peoples. And this trait i have seen in my cousin brother mostly.

from that day he has stopped passing comments about my joy and also stoppped feeing offended when i take my bike infront of his rich friends who own so called modern and stylish bikes. It really pained me before when he used to feel bad about my joy when i used to take my joy to drop him at college on few occasions.

I feel more proud when i take my joy rather than my extreme. When people say that this bike still looks like new, i feel my chest to expand two inches more. But his attitude always hurts me. But as they say time heals all, after he ones rode my bike, he is now silent and never again degrades my JOY.

            That funny incident is awesome.

I was wanted to seize my engine so that i can get change to build myself what a crazy thought!!

Do u want a tank? I'll search here, i doubt if its available here, there are hardly 3-4 joy's i've seen in my city.

              Presently running on ngk gpower CR7HGP ( 3000kms done, 4.4 kΩ ) , have a spare used Champion PRZ7HC ( 1000km used, 7.5 kΩ ) and spare brand new ngk CR7HSA ( never fitted, 4.4 kΩ ) .
Now I gotta get this mico one too ! Darn . Is it the only non-resistor plug available for Splendors ?

Yes, it is the only non-resistor plug available for splendor. All other manufactures only resistor plugs.
No need of non-register plugs as your present plug is working fine. When you need to replace change to Mico U4A. My retailer friend was saying that NGK will come out with non resistor plug and i guess that will be late as late as JULY.

                • I hope that owners are getting better results from using only one Resistor in line with Ignition......either at cap or Plug...

                  • For the first time in my life i'm seeing very light brownish color on my spark plug

If getting too close, its showing a golden color. (Click on the image to see larger view)

Yes its the same plug pic.
Now that champion is showing 32k ohms, damn scrap! How bike will perform better.

Now i got 60 kpl, have cleaned carburettor & air filter today will tune tomorrow. Nothing found on carb it was clean as new, carb had ran 4300km, filter-2500.

Yes psr ji it was sibun who suggested U4A, but what cause resistor, its values, performance effect, champions misfire, all come to known by you. This was a great thing i've ever learned. Thanks for letting us know about this. Keep visiting here!

I am happy if what little knowledge I have is useful ,and helpful to others.... run the plug for at least 500 Kms before making a read, or get it cleaned thoroughly so that a proper FRESH reading will be meaningful....here is a way to read the plug with unleaded petrol..

                      • After replacing the faulty plug-cap with new, my engine's behaviour is totally changed ; gone a little rough and growly with gruff engine tone . Also I filled with that Gulf 10w30 synth oil . Both torque and pick-up is great , so is FE . But I don't like the sound - it's no longer soft sweet purr that I liked . Need to tune it afresh I think . Nahi ?

btw - The new Gulf Synth 4T 10w30 oil is just ok - not great - not better or worse than the HeroHonda 4T 10w30 in any way I can feel . Have run about 350kms on it yet, and as the weather is getting warmer n warmer each day, I feel the same things that I dislike in the 10w30 grade (in summer) comming up . Maybe I'll just drain it at 1000kms and fill with 20w40 for the summer as is my usual practice now .

Your observation is very close to mine Pinaki ji... I too have seen Gulf oils to be good for few klicks and then go kaput after long rides. I used to use them for break-in periods only since I live in down south of India , I use W40 or W50 and don't feel the need for thinner ones. This time check out Shell. I'm not advertising it, but would like to suggest it.
Safe riding prolongs life (bike & rider & public)

                            • I have been using the shell advance ax 7 ss oil for roughly400 kms now. Gear changes are not as forgiving as it was on the hero honda oil. You have to be in the correct gear. Even a few kms lower and the engine struggles. Thought this will be much better than standard hh oil but sad to say I'm really disappointed. Positive thing is that summer is coming & I haven't used motul before. Pinaki ji seems to like the oil very much. So I'll just give it a go. Any one else used shell? Not satisfied or satisfied? Would love to know other people's experiences
