It's the same which I am using. Mfd by bharat petroleum. The roughness is a basic character of this oil. But it's giving good mileage. Plus it's the cheapest.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostTry new JASO MA2 certified oil. Feels better than the old one. Only 260rs and i got it for 240rs from local shop. Castrol/motul have a sweet and smooth feel while accelerating, especially motul. I guess I am addicted to that smoothness and hence feeling the hero oil to be annoying!

I tried it but it's inferior compared to Honda mineral oil.Originally posted by Krishna3450 View PostTry new JASO MA2 certified oil. Feels better than the old one. Only 260rs and i got it for 240rs from local shop.

Had changed the oil to hero 4t plus after a long long time. Castrol activ 10w30 was used earlier. Some observations after riding a few 100 km.
Bike feels slightly rough. Castrol activ felt smoother.
Strangely the clutch pull has become slightly harder ever since the oil change.
Engine starts instantly and warms up in no time.
But I think I will be reverting to Castrol again just because of this annoying roughness.

The pain is temporary, try meditation.Originally posted by yieldway17 View PostIs there any seat cover/cushion improvement that can be done on a CD Deluxe?
My butt becomes sore just after 1hr of riding in this bike and the seat is stock. Even in my Activa, I have ridden without sore butt ( but get elbow pain with it) for around 2hrs continuously.
I can’t increase the cushioning much too as I’m tall which will affect the handlebar reach.
Any input appreciated.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
The Spark plug does not show like it is soaked in engine oil. It shows lean AFR..So my opinion is that the Valve stem seals had gone bad leaking small amount of oil while parked, which is burnt at start up emitting white smoke . Get the Valve stem seals changed at ASC..Originally posted by dumb0 View Post@psr, @sibun, @Pinaki
Sir,
My Splendor is behaving strangely & emitting white smoke, when started without accelerator and left to idle on its own even for 5 or 10 minutes.
And when at standstill, if the engine is raced for even 10 seconds, then the white smoke emission stops. Again, no such emission is there, if it is started with slightly open throttle and is driven straight away.
If it is driven for either 100 metres or 10 kms, the engine does not emit white smoke even on racing the engine
Good Luck..

Thanks for the info. I thought the toolkit provided with the motorcycle is crap, but actually it's a life saver !Originally posted by ashwinprakas View PostSame here, If it weren't for the GQ ride where space was a concern I wouldn't have found out how convenient it is to use the tool provided with the motorcycle.
Beats the effort needed to use box spanners or a torque wrench as leverage is low enough that unless you're Arnold Schwazznigger you'd not have the strength to ruin the crank case threads.

Re: Hero Moto Splendor/Joy/CD-Dawn/Passion
Thanks. I will change it tomorrow itself and post the results in few days.Originally posted by MotoMan View PostI think that's the culprit of the mileage issue. 20w50 grade is a strict no-no for hero bikes. It's just too thick and robs away performance and mileage. It can also cause engine damage in the long run. The ideal grade is 10w30 / 10w40. Try motul /castrol 10w30, the issue will be solved.
EDIT :
Hero is using super tight clearences from 2010/bs3 models and even tighter clearence for bs4 models. And these take almost 15-20k km to run in properly [emoji43]. Hence a 20w grade is not suitable in this period.
The old/pre-2010 model bikes can run on any grade of oil but it is not the case with the newer ones.

I change it in between 1.5k-2k km. It's the point where the oil starts to loose it's viscosity and you start to feel slight harshness. There is no drop in oil level.Originally posted by View PostBro what is interval you changed the oil and is there is any decrease in oil level during drain period

Bro what is interval you changed the oil and is there is any decrease in oil level during drain periodOriginally posted by MotoMan View PostI am using the Hero recommended / popularly most not recommended hero 4t plus, now with API SL rating. Earlier I used castrol activ 10w30 and it performed brilliantly. Now let's see how this performs.
Removed the gear shifter for convinience. Now I am making it a habit to change the aluminium washer with every oil change. It would be easier if you have a socket wrench and a funnel [emoji28].
