    • Gear issue

      Hi

Few days back, i had a minor accident. I was taking a U turn on a slope, and was unable to control the bike, so I slowly let the bike fall on one side. There were few scratches on the RVM, indicator, and the gear lever got bent slightly.

I showed it to Prasanna, who fixed it immediately using a wrench. But Now I feel that gear change is not so smooth. From 1st to 2nd it makes a sound, like "THAK". I feel that this was not there before the bend.
My bike has almost touched 1000kms and am going to talk about this issue at the 1st servicing with Prasanna.
Do you think this sound is normal? Its not very high but not low volume also.

Ouch. That's sad to hear. Sounds to me like the gear level is misaligned. Might have to check if there is any misalignment or damage to the internals. Dont ride without getting this fixed. It may cost a bomb later... or may be its not anythin to worry about. Difficult to say what the issue is, so get it checked before u ride again.

P.S. Dont worry much. These things happen. I know it hurts to see your new bike getting damaged but its all part of the learning phase.

Hope she is back to form soon. Have fun riding her and ride safe bro.

How do you apply the the tape? Does it have a special applicator? I ask because, its easy to not stick it properly.

Does it happen each time you shift? If not just make sure that when you shift the throttle is completely closed ... I had this issue after 800 km as well as I was able to rev the bike a lot more ... However if the sound is persistent do get it looked at ASAP...

well it doesn't happen all the time.. But yes most of the time. It happens only from 1-2 and a little lesser noise in 2-3. No issues while down shifting.

                              • almost nearing 800 kms on my bike,
what I have noticed is that the gear change isnt as smooth as it was initially
also it now requires a firm knock from my foot to downshift as sometimes the gear isnt getting slotted properly.
will all these issues be sorted out after the servicing or should I get the bike checked in advance?
