  • Ninja Booked

    Hello guys,
Today is a dream come true day for me.I have finally booked the Kawasaki Ninja 250r.After so many nights of sleeplessness,so many nights of dreaming,so many nights of confusion!.
Dilemma of choice is what haunted me!

The CBR 250r,the Ninja or the Hyosung GT250r OR the DUKE.The CBR 250r with its VFM or the GT250r with its impressive sensory delight, both to the eyes and to the ear,or the DUKE for the mad machine it is and the fun factor involved in the daily commute!

But in my heart I wanted a fared bike,so the choice boiled down CBR ,GTR,Ninja. Was almost convinced about the GTR,convinced that it was placed in between the Ninja and CBR,but it did not quite turn out to be that after the pricing was announced and the reviews started trickling in.
Then came the question of CBR vs The Ninja.Well I got to agree, being a student the CBR made a whole lot more sense. It had everything I ever wanted.Satisfied almost my every need of my "upgrade" if i can call it that from my FZ.

But whatever happened,I always kept trying to convince myself that CBR was a better option and it would be nice on mine as well as my dad's pocket.I always kept trying because my heart and my mind was HELL BENT on the Ninja and often I kept trying to convince myself.

Every CBR vs the Ninja comparison I found myself rooting for Ninja. Then to further understand what I should buy,I went about reading the Ninja ownership thread from the beginning.
Soon I found myself to become an obsessed maniac.Used to Read late into the night. Finally made my decision yesterday.I read right about till about 3 30 in the morning and stopped at 400th page.Knew what I wanted. It was not an impulsive decision.Just a realization of what I really wanted.

Made this decision fully knowing the fact that i will be using it mostly in the city and occasional highway rides.Still this is what I truly want and no other bike will make me content.

Sorry! IF Most of this might seem like a rant. But just wanted to write down the thought process I went through before selecting a bike. Its a no easy thing and can be very stressful if you ask me.
And also I would like to thank Tenhut,JD666,Bluevolt,n_aditya and many others who have shared their experiences which helped me make my decision.

Having booked the bike today,It was disappointing to see the OTR price in Bangalore increase by 11k and now it stands at 3.45 lakh.I was given no explanation as to why that happend. They said it happend just a few days back
Also most people in Bangalore PBK/or should I call that KTM are busy selling the Duke.Dint even find a display bike/test ride bike there.

And the most painful part is 2 months is the waiting period.

However look forward to being a part of this awesome club and hope to share my ownership experience soon.

PS:I had asked the query about the security of the bike sometime back and someone suggested the Xena disc locks,
I was wondering how they can be procured in India?.Are their any places in Bangalore which would sell them?
Or if it can be procured online?

True,a Kawasaki Ninja has to be green!.But I did think about black too!.Green is an attention magnet,Its ok if I'm on the bike, not when I'm away from it.Ninja Black does look stealthy.
But IMO green I feel as some kind of an aura around it and dint have to think much for that atleast!

              Congrats on your booking too

Yes I think so.I was told the price hike happened very recently.
They did mention earlier the waiting period was one month earlier and now it has been increased to 2.They also did mention 7-8 people have booked before me and hence mine might take 2 months.I do really hope I get it sooner.

Its going to be the slowest 2 months for me!

Ninja is readily available here in Delhi.

Went to my nearest Dealer (Dewan Bajaj Lajpat Nagar) to have a look at the New 200NS and found that they have the 250 r available in both green and black.

Also the price has indeed increased by Rs. 11000/-.

Don't know why there is a waiting period in Bangalore though??

I was on a long ride and was doing a 100-120km/h
Suddenly the bike stopped and the red light(oil) was on.
Didn't know what to do. The Engine just cut off suddenly and I halted the bike for a moment.
And after a while I started the bike and got it home slowly.
What do u think is the problem? I checked the oil level and everything is perfectly fine?
I had my first service yesterday and just after the first service I got a problem.
                    Any idea?
Even my Ninja is having the same issue.

Ride over 120km/hr and the engine just shuts down itself. Upon further inspection, i found out that even on neutral while revving the bike over 10k rpm, the engine shuts down. I havent yet reported it at svc. The sensor is probably the Lean angle/roll over sensor which might be giving wrong signal to the ECU which eventually cuts down the fuel supply.

Seems like particular batch is having the issue.

                    Any other thoughts?

Even I am having the exact same issue, all of a sudden the throttle just died. There was no warning light from the FI indicator at all.Tried to start after 2 mins and it was back to life.

I was on a 400 km ride when this happened, so all in all during the ride it happened for four times. Will go to the SVC on sat and figure it out. Meanwhile plz keep posted if you guys had any luck.

                          • I Finally Got One for Myself !!!

                            Hi All,

Wanted to post my short little story of how dreams come true. I owned a Pulsar 150 many years ago when I was doing my MBA in Manipal. I then moved to Mumbai and got into a finance job. Sold my pulsar 150 and never knew that I would ever move beyond to the world of biking.

I was a bachelor, with a job and a life in Bandra Mumbai. Walked into the Royal Enfield showroom one day in Bandra and was really fascinated with the RE bikes. Decided to buy myself the cruiser - the RE Thunderbird 350 (black). I still consider that as a great bike for crusing. With a modified silencer, I entered the world of highway biking.

The long rides included 2 trips around coastal Maharashtra of 1000 Kms each. The 3rd one was a 3000 km ride from Bandra to Tarkarli to Gokaran to Marwanthe to Manipal and back.

And then the inevatble happened. I got married!

Having satiated myself with the long rides and after marriage I thought I wont be riding much since I never used the bike to commute to work anyway. Also, my parents were always paranoid of bikes. And with the intention of comforting my better half with a 4 wheeler, I sold my RE T'Bird and moved on to Hyundai i20.

After more than a year of marriage, I realised that something was amiss and i was missing my RE T'Bird big time. I decided to buy myself a bike again.

Went to RE showroom again, but I thought that most RE bikes were predictable (retro bikes with thumping) and I had been there done that.

I wanted something sporty this time. Something to challenge myself with. Started googling and was veering towards the Honda CBR 250r. The price was great for a 250cc. Went 10 times to the Honda showroom with the intention of booking one, but everytime I went I came back without booking since I felt that something was not right. It wasnt really appealing much to me. I took a test ride but still wasnt satisfied.

The one day all of a sudden this happened - I was hanging out at Phoenix Mills at Lower Parel with my wife and I happened to pass by the KTM showroom. Entered the showroom and saw there a green color Kawasaki Ninja 250 r. I was blown away!!!

It was like falling in love all over again (after my wife) . The bike was not available for a test ride but I still sat on the bike for the feel and realised that the riding position would be sport, but still comfortable enough.

I decided that very day that I would buy the Ninja 250. I had some arguments with my wife since she felt that spending so much on a bike is spending too much. I tried to rationalise with myself but to no avail. I spoke to my parents and they rebuked me for a) thinking of buying a bike and b) thinking of buying a big sports bike at that price

I still could not forget that green monster i saw at the Phoenix Mills showroom. I was in love.

After weeks of trying to forget my dream, I realised that I was not able to do so. I started visiting you tube and various websites every day after work for seeing videos and pictures off the Ninja.

Then one day, I decided that it was enough, that I could do somthing for myself, that I need not be rational every time, that we must live our desires and life is no fun if we dont. Having worked hard after my MBA and having saved up I had the right to gift myself.

So I found a deal - I found a guy out of Hyderabad who wanted to sell his Ninja 250 since he is moving to the US. It was a) a one year old bike b) 2300 kms done c) scratchless and d) at a good price

I decided to not tell anyone and I Purchased my Kawasaki Ninja 250r !

The bike arrived last week and I have been riding since then. My wife and Parents were upset but after seeing the bike and feeling the ride, everyone has come round to it and are happy.

I am absolutely loving the rides and the feel. I feel I have a great exclusive machine which is the best in class. I am loving my life now. I have achieved my dream.

Leaving you guys with some pictures.

Lots of updates to come ....

When I picked my bike in Feb, I had booked it on 30th December, last year. At the time of delivery they informed me that there is a price hike of 10k and this was globally. The N250R's price has risen globally so this move is from Kawasaki and not bajaj at that time. But are you saying that you've been notified its again risen by 11k ? so this makes is around 20K in 6moths?

The bike arrived last week and I have been riding since then. My wife and Parents were upset but after seeing the bike and feeling the ride, everyone has come round to it and are happy.

I am absolutely loving the rides and the feel. I feel I have a great exclusive machine which is the best in class. I am loving my life now. I have achieved my dream.

Leaving you guys with some pictures.

Lots of updates to come ....
Congrates and welcome to the club. Nice to know the N 250 is still popular in the country with all the various options coming in the market

Nice pics, would love to see them in HD kinda of format. they really look like wallpaper snaps.
what all accessories do you have, can we also see a pics of them?

btw, I'm working on a paddock stand for the N250R.
I saw one of the guys in the CBR250 thread making it within 750Rs, I had a word with my mom about it and she said if I make it in 500Rs she'll pay the amount So the project is on. Got material last night. Have an off 4th,5th July so will spend the time working on the stand. I'm still not sure but I think it can slightly tip over the 500Rs budget, but I can convince mom for an extra 50Rs. Not sure though
