      • 2012 Ninja 250r (Pachakuthira) Grasshopper

Yesterday i got my bike from TVM pbk showroom around 2pm ...... and rode back to cochin 231 Km ride .......

        1st impression

        1) killer looks. specially the sexy this color

        2) build quality (rock solid build)

        3) Smooth acceleration (only took my bike till 50 km/h @ 3500-4000 rpm)

        4) just invites you to ride it all day lol!!!

waiting for Temp number !!! and thinking what if they had buy 1 get 2 ninja free ahahahhahah

        cons

1)Seats ..... omfg the seats are made from ROCK!!!! my but started to hurt after riding 20 Km ..... (need suggestion to resolve this issue)

        2) Lack of tyre hugger ... after riding 4 hrs in rain my rear shock is completely covered in mud and sand

        3) IRC tyre sucks ..... had many back slide... even went off road ..... dude to bad grip and heavy heavy rain....

        4) Mud gets into radiator only at one spot ....

5)Had problem shifting gears down every time i had to leave and again press clutch to get down shift .... Solid shifting ....

        6) Today morning i saw green liquid stuff leek out of bike but only few drops ... i moved the bike and placed in another spot till now didnt see any leek

        more pic to come soon

please suggest me which petrol to use ....
Respect riding? then respect rules!!! be safe...

        • congrats...the rains are wrecking havoc here and whenever I am thinking of taking a ride, it comes down. Just take the seat to any upholstery shop and they would add a layer of foam with a covering to the seat. But it would somewhat spoil the looks, because they dont have the kind of stuff the original seat is made of. Regarding petrol i put my initial tankful with power petrol from the petrol bunk outside pbk showroom in tvm. I have used normal petrol after that since on my last ride i couldnt locate a place where you could get power or extrapremium. Trustvishwas had earlier mentioned that this is okay and so i went ahead with it. Till now I have not had any problems or am not really feeling any difference.

          • By the way dont use rear brakes unless absolutely necessary. Since sports bikes have a front bias in weight distribution, your front brakes should do most of the jobs.

              get the seats re padded.

You can use an fz16 tire hugger on this bike, with minor modifications

              3) IRC tyre sucks ..... had many back slide... even went off road ..... dude to bad grip and heavy heavy rain....

avoid using rear brakes completely, switch to better tires

              4) Mud gets into radiator only at one spot ....

go back a few pages, Aditya has proposed a nifty modification for this.

5)Had problem shifting gears down every time i had to leave and again press clutch to get down shift .... Solid shifting ....

that liquid green stuff would be the coolant... Why it is leaking, please check with your svc...

Not many suggestions will come for that buddy. Your butt will earn to adjust
You can try gel seats. Maybe some of the members here can help with a review.

                2) Lack of tyre hugger ... after riding 4 hrs in rain my rear shock is completely covered in mud and sand.

Look for the FZ hugger mod in this thread.

                3) IRC tyre sucks ..... had many back slide... even went off road ..... dude to bad grip and heavy heavy rain....

Try using the front more. The Ninja is more front biased. Rear will certainly slide in the wet if you press completely.

                4) Mud gets into radiator only at one spot ....

Clean using water from a hose and a toothbrush..nothing too powerful to bend the fins though. Trust vishwas had mentioned a mod for the same as well a few pages back.

please suggest me which petrol to use ....
Normal will suffice. But I always put in ExtraPremium from a pump I can believe.

                  • Speed 97

Topped the bike up with SPEED 97. Have to say guys its brilliant. The engine is smoother than ever. And the ride is smooth as ever. Though the only problem I have with the speed 97 is that it cost a whooping and freaking 90rs/liter. OMFG! Seriously guys.
I hope the price of the speed 97 goes down so that I can always use that.
                    Good day guys

                    • Forgot to Mention

Forgot to mention, I seriously don't understand why the service guys take a longggg time to get the roller sensor. Since the roller sensor in my bike's dead, I can feel more vibration and as soon as I reach 100km/h the vibration is awful!!.
Gearbox is harder than ever. When I got it to the service station the guys refused to take my bike and said they will take the bike when the sensor has arrived and check the bike throughout. Hope they get the sensor soon.

                        Congrats

What is the current on-road price in Kerala?

I didn't felt the seat is that much har. Your body may need to get adjusted with the new riding position. Nne tyres are slipery because tyre also need run-in of around 160 kms. Avoid hard cornering and braking during that time and avoid using rear brake much. I have used Extra premium and Bp power in the past and using normal petrol now. Didn't felt any difference from them. Ordinary unleaded petrol from a reputed pump is ok.

                            • Some guys had asked me for dimensions of my home made radiator mud guard. Here are approx. dimensions with the best drawing that I could draw :-)

(BTW, I do not have any touch with drawing since 1984 when I passed out of school so you guys are not supposed to laugh at the quality of drawing)

Good drawing there. But I've noticed that the radiator gets messed up just at one part. Right on the center and its straight. So how does it go now?
