  • I had a minor crash towards the right side and there are scratches on the metallic exhaust sheild (lower one) and there is a small crack in the fairing. Will I get any insurance claim?? my bike is almost 3 months/2400kms old.

        yes,you can claim insurance.
you will get 50% on the cost of fairing(as it is plastic part) and you can get 100% on the exhaust sheild(since it is metal part)!!

          ^^ yes like he said!

metal parts are subject to depreciation so unless the bike is less than 6 months old (correct me if i'm wrong), you won't get 100% on the metal parts. the percentage of depreciation increases every 6 months so do check the documents carefully

So if the bike is less than 6 months old there will be 100% claim for metal parts?
Am I getting it right or am I getting it the exact opposite way?
I am curious cause I have a very minor dent+scratch kind of thing in my exhaust (the black part) any clue about that?

AFAIK if the bike is less than 6 months old you get 100% on claim for metal parts and if its more than 6 months depreciation will be calculated

regarding the exhaust tail pipe even i had a small dent on the tail part(its functional though) i claimed it under insurance, but in my case i got somewhere around 90% of the claim(then my bike was 10 months old)

              hope this clears!!

                • Thanks all for your response.
Is it a lengthy procedure (insurance claims)? and will I need to show my D/L?

                    its not that lengthy process
you need to give them xerox copy your license(in case if you are riding the bike at the time of crash)and should write in the form explaining how the crash had happened that enough!

                    • Happy news for kerala trippers and my buddies... A Bajaj Probiking outlet will be opening shortly in Calicut. Now the only pbk in Kerala is at TVM which is 400+ kms away from Calicut which made me stand away fom the kwacker.... After continuos request from many including me for a pbk in north Kerala(Calicut is not completely north) , this one will be up in the next few months...
Now, I am saving bucks for the Kwacker....

if your insurance has nil depreciation clause, you will get claim for all parts. oriental insurance has such a policy.

better to take insurance with nil depreciation clause if possible. not all insurance companies has the same though. you may have to pay a slightly higher premium. around rs 600 more for this.

                          • Hey Guys, need some input. The chain on my bike was a bit loose and was making some noise while accelerating, especially from stand still... Had the chain tightened and after about 1K km, the same noise is back. I guess the chain needs replacement (Prasanna was of the same opinion) odo reading now is about 18K. Does any one know:
                            1) The cost of the chain
                            2) Will the sproket need replacement as well?
                            3) Has any one else had to replace the chain as well? I thought the life was more than 20-25K km...

Check back a few pages. Trustvishwas has posted the details. I'm surprised your chain has packed up in just 18k kms. Do let us know your riding style.

The cost of OEM chain is 7000+ . And the set of sprokets will be 5k or so.
Always go in for sprokets replacements when you get the chain replaced, otherwise the new chain wear out faster.
Although you check the international pricing for both, i think importing will be cheaper.

For chains Rolon company has developed x-ring chain for a price of 2900 and they are doing R&D on developing the sprokets as well. IF you want more detail , you can PM me or Vishwas.

How often did you use to lube the stock chain ?

I have done 16k , but the chain still does not look bad.
                                RIP Marco
