I don't know whether this question is aimed at me or not. However, a few pointers :Originally posted by Balaboy View PostDId u happen to do you Leh trip on the ninja or was it a different bike. Eitherways, its one trip i want to do, would you suggest for or against a ninja 250. Please let me know.
1. Leh trip can be done on a ninja or for that matter any bike.
2. It is not advisable to take ninja on this ride. The reasons being :-
a. Chances of you falling down on black ice/sand are fairly high. Expect to fall down at least once during this ride. It would be a low speed (10-20kmph) fall but will surely crack fairing. One side fairing costs 11k.
b. Seating position of all front biased motorcycles is not comfortable for riding at low speed on broken / no roads. Your speed on Ninja will be much lower than other bikes like Pulsar / FZ / bullet.Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

Thanks for the quick expert advice BVOriginally posted by bluevolt View PostLube your speedo gear assembly in the front wheel with white Lithium grease. The PBK guys should have it.

Talking about the speedo, wanted to re-iterate this question...
Did anyone observe what is the top speed on the 2011 Ninja?
Last time I posted here when I went on a speed run with a 2009 and a 2010 Ninja where my bike was not able to cross 165kmph and the 09/10 models were showing a speed of 185kmph even though all of us were traveling parallel....
It was confusing at that time whether 2011 Ninja's had a speedo correction or a speedo error over the 09/10 models...
Any insights on this ????

Sometimes I also hear a clicking sound, I thought it might be from the front brake lever as there is switch to illuminate the brake light when the front brake is used.Originally posted by kiran_borra View PostThanks for the quick expert advice BV

Regarding the top speed, mine is 2011 model and max top end that i was able to achieve was 167kmph(the speedo displayed little above 165kmph).
Though I wasn't able to check/confirm with other old model Ninja's or with the GPS.

excellent summation! i entertained the thought of taking my baby to leh but a second later, i dropped the idea!Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostI don't know whether this question is aimed at me or not. However, a few pointers :

yes i used to hear that noise and then bluevolt solved it for me! hence went to the pbk and requested the technician to lube my speedo gear assembly and viola!Originally posted by kiran_borra View PostYups even I observed this clicking noise...
It comes whenever I accelerate the bike...
mine is a 2010 ninja and it has ridiculous speedo error at the top end according to the garmin gps. during my ss1600k ride, when my ninja was showing 140kmph the gps was showing 134kmph! when the ninja was doing 160kmph the gps was showing 150kmph and when my ninja was doing over 175kmph the gps didn't cross 161kmph at any stage whatsoever!Originally posted by kiran_borra View PostThanks for the quick expert advice BV

p.s. so needless to say i was pretty deflated knowing my previous top speed of around 183kmph (ninja speedo) could only be 166kmph give or take a km :'(Last edited by therealabhinav; 12-06-2011, 06:30 PM.

Heres the Lavasa Sunday Ride Video. Sorry about the shaky video. Need to find some rubber bushes for my home made 30 bucks ram mount.Youtube has banned my video due to some copyright. So have changed it to one of their sound tracks. Might take a little while to be visible.Have much more footage availble but the size is too much to upload.

So this answers everything!
Ninja 2011 is without speedo error then

Confusing issue!Originally posted by vinbex View PostToday I had a small incident on my NINJA.I was going at around 50 and accelerating, suddenly a car swerved right into my path and i had to break.i applied both brakes equally.tyres locked up,but i dint skid sideways, went straight n stopped well before the car.engine shut down and the red oil light lit up,bike wouldn't start.then i had to push the bike to the opposite side of road.Switch off the ignition and then start again.everything was normal.
Is this something our members were referring about emergency shut down during a crash situation ???

i encountered this issue few times not in the case of panic breaking though.Originally posted by vinbex View PostToday I had a small incident on my NINJA.I was going at around 50 and accelerating, suddenly a car swerved right into my path and i had to break.i applied both brakes equally.tyres locked up,but i dint skid sideways, went straight n stopped well before the car.engine shut down and the red oil light lit up,bike wouldn't start.then i had to push the bike to the opposite side of road.Switch off the ignition and then start again.everything was normal.

Black Ninja 250R
hi all,
i am from Jakarta-Indonesia and been almost 3 years with pulsar 200 and now already sold her to my friend.
now change to ninja 250r, bought at august 2011...
already done about +/- 1,900 KM up to now...
ninja 250r is a nice bike....but i am not really satisfy with standard looking...
so, i do a little mods, like :
1. changing the stock muffler into a racing full system muffler
2. adjust the carb by changing MJ & PJ
3. changing the tyre with Battlax 120/60-R17 front and 150/60-R17 rear
4. changing the stock spark plugs with iridium type
4. put a yellow stripping near fairing...and a bit carbon looks on the tank (just do this carbon yesterday
)
i will have another road trip this saturday and back at sunday, and will posted some pics here....
meanwhile, i post some pics of my bike and my friends (including the kawi GTR-1400)
from our last ride (about 3 weeks ago)
enjoy....

the ninja has a crash censor which shuts off the bike if it feels that the bike has crashed or fallen
that might be the reason here

@ TV - you're right it doesn't if the bike is standing - unless of course its malfunctioning. Don't know if the crash sensor also activates in case of massive deceleration though.....as in a crash scenario but seems too complex for the N250R.Originally posted by trustvishwas View PostIt does not activate as long as bike is standing.
In this case, I suspect that the bike just stalled because the rider slammed the brakes in a panic stop without clutch. Then tried to restart while the bike was in gear, forgetting the clutch again because his adrenaline was pumping due to the near miss. Then when he pushed the bike over to the side, had time to recover his wits and voila!
Happens to the best of us.
@ malcolmk - did you get your issue sorted out ?
