brother what is the specification of the shell oil. Is it ment for the wet clutch. plz provide some more inputs. Since u have shifted to semi synthetic oil at 800. i would nt have done that so early. however semi synthetic oil is also 70% mineral. Brothers correct me..
U should have waited for atleast 5k to shift to ss oil.
I couldnt resist from posting the below. I would like to know what the others think as well.
There is no restriction on when you can switch to a synthetic or semi synthetic oil. Nowadays many automobile manufacturers are filling synthetic oil right at the factory. Hypothetically speaking, if synthetic and mineral oil both cost the same, 100% of the manufacturers might fill with synthetic at the factory itself.
But again, that is a hypothethis.
There are hundreds of opinions on this topic but I have yet to come across a single post on any automotive forum, indian or otherwise, that said that using a synthetic oil on a modern car or a bike caused a catastrophic failure. Infact, mobil 1 website goes on a limb and asks people to switch to synthetic from Kilometer zero. If this caused a (proven) failure in clutch or gearing, then they are opening themself to a class action suit which could destroy their reputation and revenues.
I need a pair of h7 55W bulbs urgently. both the bulbs have fused and I cannot find the philips xtremevision h7 bulbs anywhere in navi mumbai. Somebody please suggest locations in Mumbai where I could buy these.
Also when I checked with PBK they quoted the price of one stock bulb at Rs.300/-, not Rs. 900/- as someone was saying earlier in the thread.
Thanks
Shell Helix HX3 exceeds these specifications: 20W50 Viscosity Grade, API SG/CD.
This is what i found on the shell site. So i am not sure whether i should just go ahead and try it out.
Shell HX 3 is meant for Old Cars with worn/higher gap between working parts, and it CONTAINS FRICTION MODIFIERS.
It is not fit for a engine with WET CLUTCH..ie., motorcycle engine with wet clutch....
Use ONLY 20w50 engine oils confirming to JASO MA2 specification..or else clutch slip will occur.

I was able to get the Osram nightbreaker plus H7 12V 55W's from one of the shops. As a DIY job I installed them myself. But the headlights still would not come on. On checking the high beam I found that the original philips bulb wasn't fused. So then the fuse must have blown. Took out the fuse box from under the rider seat and yes the 10Amp head light fuse was gone. replaced it with one of the spare fuses and both lights started working. Don't know why the fuse blew though.
Taking it for a short ride tonight to check the performance of the new bulbs.

What price did you pay for the Osram nightbreaker plus???.
Had a word with Prasanna now, he told that the price of the bulb is around 400 bucks.
Though i replaced the bulb of my ninja today morning with the Wurth H7 55W costed me 200 bucks. I was in a bit hurry so did not go to the PBK to get it replaced as the wurth distributor was very near to my place.
After replacement i felt the the light was not as strong as in case of a stock bulb, so still need to check for a final confirmation at the night time.
Will update the results soon..
Has any one else also tried wurth or Bosch bulbs???

I paid 1400/- for a pair. This may be on a higher side but I was kind of desperate to get the bulbs as both my lights were not working hence could not research for the lowest price.
Anyways I was able to ride with these since yesterday and here are the initial impressions...
The box says- upto 90% more brightness - I say crap. These are at best a little bit better than the stock bulbs when it comes to brightness. may be 20% more.
The box says - 35m longer beam throw - again crap. I found the high beam to be about the same as earlier. This kind of illumination is good for speeds upto 80-100kph. But maybe i could try adjusting the high beam lens vertically(procedure is there in the manual) as I find most of the light falling within 100m or so in front.
The box says - 10% whiter light - I say true as compared to the stock bulbs. Whether this is a good thing or not i am not sure as yet.
Another point to note is that as per Osram the only difference between these and the standard (now discontinued) nightbreakers is the lifetime. These new ones come with improved lifetime. we'll see..
These are just initial impressions and may change when i ride more.
Some sorta Oil has spilled on my Ninja in a Parking lot- It is so much sticky and NO amount of washing is able to take it off the plastics. Any suggestions to remove it? It is all over the tail / right fairing and right tank. Its so sticky that im unable to use it for commute also
