As for the Carbon fiber look vinyl.. are you talking about the 3M di-noc carbon fiber? Those things are heat resistant??
Your right bro. The paint or powder coat if done needs to have very high resistance to heat or else it would be pointless.
+1 on the getting rid of pillion idea. I solved the problem by buying a seat cowl. Offcourse in the unlikely event that i planned to get a chick to sit behind... I'd get the cowl of in an instant and install the pillion seat back. Meanwhile attaching a sample picture of new exhaust that i may get... Does not seem like the IXIL that i was suppose to get and i'm still not sure if my friend's buying the full system as i asked for slip on only. Was quoted Rs. 19000. It's got removable baffles. Though the pic says 2008-2009 models! Also attaching some pics of the Simon exhaust slip on's on the kwacker and cbr250r. There's no major difference i can see in the models of the ninja 250 from 2008-2012. C'ept for the sad looking steel exhaust on the 2008 stock! Anyone care to chime in... Specially trust Vishwas and mr poojari. Love your views and true from experience insights!!

the 3M tapes are not heat resistant afaik, infact they need to be heated before you apply them so that they strech and become very sticky.

You get a lof of these vinyls which a lot of people are using on exhausts back here in mumbai.

Arent most engines powder coated today? I dont think it would be an issue.
Vinyls are easy and smarter solutions though.

PS: I am still surprised on how you go those scuff marks! Isnt it on a awkward height for a pillion to keep shoes?

          • When my silencer had a deep scratch, I took it to PBK and they painted it in the same colour as silencer was - been good till now - and one cant feel the difference. May be you can give it a try & i was not even charged for painting it back!

I have a small paint chip (a 1mm dot) on the tank! I have no clue where that came from, but I can see metal from there. Will prolly stick something there for now

Slightly cold morning and while she usually starts up instantly, today it took three tries. Waited about two minutes to warm up to the "C" line and left home. Trying to take off from the first signal, I gave her maybe 75% throttle and about 50m away, the bike stalled and the FI light came on. Started up again a couple of times but bike would move with very little power - i.e., when I release the clutch, the bike would move slowly some distance and die again. Stopped to look for safe parking and when I came back to move the bike, started up fine. No problems accelerating after that.

It felt like (what I think) is a vapour lock, but I've heard FI engines are more or less immune to that. Has anyone else had this happen to them?
Ask Prasanna to check the throttle sensors - tell him I told you so and he will know what to do. But do get it checked before you leave for your trip!

The other reason might be a loose stick coil on either of the plugs, but I doubt that.

Saar, are you sure your tires read "Sport Demons"? It might be "Sport Lemons" if your thread is different

That's because they know of the bike's antecedents.......

Exactly! If you ride with the ball of your feet on the foot-pegs like you're supposed to, then your pillion will automatically have to do the same, as he/she will not have enough space otherwise!

Bingo again! Though 6" heels are not required, any hard sole will do. I speak from experience!

Also gives me a little time to source a Rolon chain (hopefully). I'm thinking about getting a 15T sprocket from the US. Don't remember hearing anyone here change to a non-standard sprocket. Any thoughts?
Will take out stock Ninja and mine for a test soon, will have figures for you. Will try to shoot videos also (since the internet loves videos now), but not sure how well that will work out.

I like the US solution the best - chrome muffler I've got a lot of scratches as well, but can't think of an easy solution other than the ones Satyen has already mentioned.

Rahul San, its not only my tires. The other ninja's in the group which have the SD's also have the same tread as mine.

Probably Pirelli sold you a special piece knowing how much you ride.
