  • Hi All

Recently, I have been facing an issue with my bike since last 1K KMS, lack of power.

For the above reason, I cleaned my air filter thoroughly and went for a ride this evening and I observed the same issue.

Also, since when this issue cropped in I observed rpm Vs Speed ratio has dropped significantly.

    Speeds at diff. rpms:
4K --> 54kmph (needle was below 55kmph marker on the dial)
6K --> 74kmph (needle was below 75kmph marker on the dial)
    8K --> < 95kmph (needle was below 95kmph marker on the dial)

Earlier, speeds were 58,78,100 kmph respectively.

Air pressure was checked just before the ride.
Engine used: Motul 300V (being used from last 4500KMS)
    ODO reading: 9053 KMS
Chain lubed: 50KMS before the ride

Also, checked wheel rotation just to verify the brakes are not jammed on either of the wheels and they rotated fine.

I strongly suspect it is due to clutch slipage.
Guys provide your inputs on this as what could be the reason behind this.

WTF 180 !!!!!!! how the hell did you get it to that speed.

I have done almost 5 - 6 kms at max acceleration on a straight stretch and it didn't do anything beyond 167...

      I use
      Petrol : Shell
      ODO 3000km
      Services : 1

      Where does my bike lack.

Have you done any mods on the bike?

Would love to have the additional 10km on my bike...

Mine is the 2012 model,I too haven't been able to get past 170.Once I did 169,but it kind maxes out after 160.
From what I read in another forum,I am not sure which ,will put up a link if I find it.
The Ninjas pre 2010 had a 7% speedo error, but the Ninjas after 2010 have a speedo error of 2-3%.Hence maybe we are not seeing excess of 170 etc on our bikes.

For location, see below - straight road, slight gradient and wind behind you. 2psi above normal tyre inflation. Had K&N, but I doubt it makes any difference.

Under normal circumstances, the 250R would max out at 165-170

            • Hi Friends!

I have an Aug'10 Ninja, I have achieved a max of 163 KMPH on a straight road, without redlining, with almost no cross winds.

I weigh 84 Kgs, hence believe riders with lesser weights and a redline, 170 to 175 would be max.

              regards
Every time i am able to change my bike's engine oil, i feel like passing another semester amongst thousands, of being a proficient rider.

                Thx Blue

I have nitrogen in my tyer (Stock) - 28 front, 30 rear. Should i change that to 30 front and 32 rear or just the change in the rear would do?

While 30/32 would work, don't increase your pressure unless you are trying to go very fast temporarily. The downside is lower grip, pronounced transmission of bumps from the road and faster tyre wear.

                  • Hey guys....
Coming back to this thread after a long time...
(Might be I was too busy riding my Ninja 250R )
It's been an year + with this baby and 11k kms...
It was a pure bliss to ride this bike and it still gives me goose bumps

Just wanted to get some information as my bike is due for 3rd service in more 1k kms...
3rd service normally deals with many more extra checks other than the regular service like valve clearances and adjustments etc
But here in Hyderabad the Pro-Biking center doesn't have any of that equipment to do that job and all they do is regular service (air filter clean/oil change and oil filter change)
I remember reading n_aditya's post long back regarding 3rd service being done perfectly at Bangalore svc by Prasanna...
Was wondering if this is still happening and would it be a good idea to ride down from hyderabad to Bangalore and get my bike's 3rd service done!

Thx Blue... safety first - for speed, i guess i will have to borrow a friends bike with higher cc when ever i have a craving for it

                                hey kiran
hope you are doing good.. :-)
regarding the 3rd service, am also planning to get this done this weekend as was feeling a little sluggish and had posted the query a page back but no one replied.
i suspected clutch slippage to be the reason for that but the reason may be due to the expired engine oil. i had changed to 300v at 4300kms but now i have started facing hard gear shifts and roughness so that could be a reason for sluggishness. also in my case if there is some roughness even after that then i may require valve clearance or vaccum sync.

here also they majorly do only oil change, filter change as a part of service but only when someone insists they do the necessary checkup/adjustment during the 3rd service.
so only of you are facing some issues than ask them to do such things like valve clearance and all as its not good to touch the thinga that are going good and also if they touch i don't think so they are still not equiped so much that they may do the things as they should be done.
so if your ride is going good then no need.
will post the feedback after 3rd service this weekend.
