  • Hi guys, could use a little advice on a problem I encountered today on my way to work.

Slightly cold morning and while she usually starts up instantly, today it took three tries. Waited about two minutes to warm up to the "C" line and left home. Trying to take off from the first signal, I gave her maybe 75% throttle and about 50m away, the bike stalled and the FI light came on. Started up again a couple of times but bike would move with very little power - i.e., when I release the clutch, the bike would move slowly some distance and die again. Stopped to look for safe parking and when I came back to move the bike, started up fine. No problems accelerating after that.

It felt like (what I think) is a vapour lock, but I've heard FI engines are more or less immune to that. Has anyone else had this happen to them?

Is the FI light still on or coming on and going off intermittently?

If you see the light coming on again, head to PBK without any delay.

From what you have mentioned i am guessing that your radiator might be clogged and due to less air flow into the cooling system, the engine might have stalled. I could be wrong though, but to be sure, check if your radiator is clean. There should be no mud, dirt, leaves, clay, etc. stuck to the fins.

Also check if all fuses are OK.

          • Saw bluevolt's Ninja (ex, actually ) yesterday at Garuda Mall in the evening. She still had all the decals and what caught my attention was the rear tire. It was a Pirelli all right but not the Sport Demons cos the treads on this one was different... more like road tires. Rahul had put the Sport Demon's on these long back but the current tires are different.

@Evershine - What tires are these and how do they fare? Please share more info on the cost and where you sourced them from.

Hi bro. The Tail Tidy was Aed 450/-, The gloves i feel were a sweet deal for Aed 250/-(Probably an old design or something)
The Mesh riding jacket with pads was about Aed 300/-(Not a branded one. Aprila riding jackets i've seen start at Aed 1300/-) and the Keiti Tank pad with one free sad looking keychain was Aed 75/- (Overpriced imho, but nothing else i liked at the showroom c'ept the Zx10r, Zx14r and Zx6r ) At the time of purchase the value of Dhirams to the Rupee was around 1= 13.2. Now it's hovering at 14 or so. The rear seat cowl at the pbk in Goa that's near Margao, cost Inr 4300/-

It could be something as simple as, the cap on your sparkplug being loose. Happened to me.

                  Yep, that would be me

Would have liked to say hello... maybe another day. I'm still using the same tires bluevolt put on the Ninja. It's actually an IRC Roadwinner in front and SD in the back. Haven't had any issues of course. I'm very careful anyway given Bangalore's muddy/bumpy roads.

As to the earlier stalling problem, I didn't see any of it in the evening. Radiator is not very clean at the moment but she runs cool enough. I wonder if it had something to do with the lowish fuel level (<1/3) and sudden acceleration causing a temporary fueling glitch. Sounds unlikely even to me. Water in the fuel from condensation overnight? I keep the bike covered though.

[Everyone] Considering a trip towards Mangalore this weekend. Leave Bangalore Sat morning and be back by Sunday evening. Stay overnight with relatives so you'll be more comfortable if you atleast understand Kannada. You'll experience some twisties, nice people and (relatively) unspoilt environs. Anyone jobless over the weekend is welcome.

P.S. Have you changed the sprockets and chain? Noticed the odo was close to 27k IIRC.

Hope you guys have a nice trip too. You're right about the chain. It's in real need of replacement but I'm hoping to push it to the 30K service. Also gives me a little time to source a Rolon chain (hopefully). I'm thinking about getting a 15T sprocket from the US. Don't remember hearing anyone here change to a non-standard sprocket. Any thoughts?

                          • For removing the pillion:
You can use the hard seat to remove the pillion
You can take them once and ride like an arse and scare them

                            For removing the scratch:
Nothing more than scuffing it up and repaint it\powder coat it
                            or
                            Apply a nice sticker
                            or
Apply a Carbon fibre look vinyl
