    • Tire Query***URGENT & IMPORTANT***

Hi a colleague of mine at office is offering the IRC tires of his 250R which has done 3000kms since he is going for a tire upgrade.

      4 Questions:-

      1) Can I fit the front and the rear tire of the 250R on my P180UG3 without any kind of adjustments?
      2) Does it make sense to buy 3000kms old IRCs? The maintains the bike very well though. Ridden the bike quite a few times.
      3) If yes is the answer for Q2, then how much should I quote him for the tires?
      4) Last question, although mileage drop is not an issue how bad will the performance be hit? I mostly ride on weekends at cruising speeds and seldom hit higher rpm.

Need help from you guys in deciding up and letting him know my final answer within the next 2-3 days.

***Disclaimer - I have posted this query in 2 other related thread so if you have already answered my query in another thread then please ignore it here as I'm simultaneously tracking all the treads where I have posted***

purely speaking thats just 1.4% error in distance so i guess it's pretty good!

IMO it will be too broad for your bike. Avoid. price will be around half of new ones.

I do not know whether this tyre would fit your bike or not. However, please understand that new pair of IRC costs 13k and new pair of Pirelli Sports Demon cost around 6.75k. So the max. amount you should be offering him would be 2.5-2.75k for the pair.

Also if he rides in city a lot, check whether the tyre profile has become squarish. If it has, you would find difficulty in cornering on those tyres. (I know that you like cruising . . . . still)
Never argue with an idiot. He will drag you down to his level and then beat you with experience.

              • Oil change - Kms Vs Days.

                Hey Friends!
I have a query for the seniors - I have put Motul Fully Synthetic in my Ninja and have done 3000kms after the oil change, but time wise, it has been more than a year since the oil change.

Now, my question is - Does the oil's viscosity get effected by passage of time or only the number of kms matter? I was told the oil is good for 6,000 odd kms. Considering that I have taken a year to do the first 3,000 km, it will take me another year to do the other 3k.

Will the oil be good for 2 years, till the time I complete the 6000 kms or should I be going for a oil change much sooner than that?
                The company I keep:
                Yamaha Rx100
                Yamaha RD 350 (HT)
                Bajaj Pulsar 150
                Kawasaki Ninja 250r

RIDE SAFE! IF SOMETHING HAPPENS TO YOU, WHO'LL TAKE CARE OF YOUR BIKE?

Thats pretty reasonable. Someone long back did mention that IRC's costed around 13k for a set.

BTW, I've got another 1000 kms or so to go before i need to change my rear tire. Already bought a Pirelli SD and its packed away safely at home.

Hmmm... Generally engine oil has a shelf life of 5 years but when stored away from light, heat and dusty conditions and when the container is air tight and sealed.

As long as you are using the bike here and there its ok. If the bike is left idle then the oil can break down and will need to be changed. You can use the bike with the same oil for not more than 2 years if the bike is seeing at least some use and runs around the block or so.

Even in Mumbai the Sport Demons are cheaper than the RoadWinners.

Wow. So it seems that bajaj has dropped price of these tyres. TenHut had bought a pair at 13k around a year back. Just listening to this price, all pune Ninja owners scrambled towards Pirelli SD.

If i am not wrong, i think the irc prices are still highly inflated at pbk but Arif the ninja technician at hyd pbk sourced the front tyre directly from the dealer without involving the pbk! Hence the illusion of price cut !

p.s. correct me if i'm wrong harsha?

                        • isnt the service interval 12,000 kms or 1 year. So get the oil changed as per the duration if its not doing that many kms. And i suggest an interval of 1 year is sufficient for oil replacement.

i think pirellis offer better feedback than the irc tyres,i didnt have idea about the price of pirellis...but the mechanic at pbk got me tyre from a dealer(as said to me) but i doubt it because i got the computerised bill for that tyre from the pbk

                            • Back in Action

                              Hey Guys
                              Happy Friendship Day
Hope you enjoyed your day with your friends

After a week full of tension and frustration my Ninja is back in Action and it was all due to fake oil that I had unknowingly poured in my bike.
Took the bike again to PBK yesterday(5th time in this week and it was twice last sunday that I visited there). Got the filter and engine oil changed to Bajaj Dtsi oil. The mechanic asked before doing all this that you had changed to Motul, why back to this told him I had suspicion for this oil as since when my clutch plates were checked.
After changing,he took for a test ride and when returned immediately prompted that I think your oil was fake, bike feels much composed now.
I changed to Bajaj oil as I didn't wanted to take chances if I get another fake oil.
Learning : Learnt how could an oil make huge differences to performance, got to know much more about my bike when clutch plates were verified and of course double check your oil that you are giving to your bike, I did but my bad luck

P.S: All thanks to PSR Sir, n_aditya, kirran, jd666. I was in constant touch and then were great help.
Thanks to other members too who have given their inputs and helped to get to the root cause.
