I'm aware that car and motorcycle oils differ, but there's some useful information there.

Hi guys
Hope everyone's doing great and riding safe. I've been enjoying my time riding my new Ninja for the past 18 days / 550 kms. Truly a no-nonsense, effortless machine!
I must say this engine oil topic is quite an eye opener. Very sad to note what Kariznin has faced due to the fake oil! However, it's good to know his machine's back on track and that this incident is an eye opener for all while buying engine oil other than OEM specified ones.
I'm going to deviate from this oil topic a bit with a minor incident. Today I had given my bike to PBK Chennai for lubing my chain and getting a water wash done (unexpected rains + mud/slush + riding = bike parts covered in muck! Need a rear hugger, and fast). After I took delivery, I noticed a weird thing. After returning from the service centre, when I was about to take the bike out for a ride (after about an hour), an intermittent low decibel humming noise was heard from the engine bay/area. It sounded similar to a vibrating phone wrapped in a cloth or on a table etc. It kept making that noise every 10 seconds. In fact the key was off the slot, and the noise came even after the ignition was turned on (not cranked). I started the bike, took it for a short spin, and noticed upon returning that the sound was gone. I went back after an hour to check, no noise then. Would like to know if anyone's heard this before. I suspected some purging process made that noise, but wondered why it would make that noise even after an hour of parking.
Didn't seem alarming, however wanted to ensure it wasn't an early warning sign for some problem.

for rear hugger you can go for FZ-16 hugger. Some mods are required to the hugger but it will be the cheapest option. You can get complete DIY in detail in DIY section where our Bluevolt sir has given explanation with pics.
Regarding the sound, I read once on the international forum that when the tank is full there is some sound and bike makes some sounds when it is idle but it disappears after few KMS of riding. I think it is normal but no idea what caused the sound to occur!!!!
But, in my case this never happened.

Guys, had a real bad crash yesterday. Time 9pm, Was returning home from my uncles place when suddenly the front end gave in at a right hander. fell off the bike with my right leg stuck underneath it. Got dragged for a good 8-10m.Was lucky that a guy helped me as i was pretty dazed and the place was deserted. Aftermath- A dislocated knee cap and wrecked bike. Damaged the fairing, bent rim, etc. could not start the bike.
Tomorrow my cousin is going to give my bike to the pro biking. So it would be helpful of you guys if you give me a link or list of spare parts cost. Tried googling but most of the results are from abroad.
thanks

Dont worry. this is normal. The sound is coming from your petrol tank which is letting off the excess pressure that is built inside it.Originally posted by aquanav View PostI started the bike, took it for a short spin, and noticed upon returning that the sound was gone. Tried searching this thread?Originally posted by kedar3223 View PostSo it would be helpful of you guys if you give me a link or list of spare parts cost. Tried googling but most of the results are from abroad.
BTW, sad to hear about your crash. Wish you a speedy recovery and ride safe. Read up on some motorcycle related books (you can search for my posts on this) and it'll help you a lot.
I dont think anyone has customized their rides to this extent. I know a few from here who have added slip-on's and LED tail lamps etc. But the modifications in the pics look awesome. Thanks for sharing. I like the dark yellow ninja (yellow black combo) compared to the yellow white one. Much better than the bling bling transformers type ninja which was hosted few pages back (thaibikers something).Originally posted by fusioncoast View PostHAS ANYONE CUSTOMISED THEIR nINJASLast edited by n_aditya; 08-11-2011, 05:36 PM.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

But, in my case this never happened. Thanks guys...quite possible it was the fuel tank pressure release that made the sound. Never recurred though. Thanks again :-)Originally posted by n_aditya View PostDont worry. this is normal. The sound is coming from your petrol tank which is letting off the excess pressure that is built inside it.
For tire hugger I'm gonna try out the "Bluevolt DIY method" :-) ... Quite impressed at the execution.

IIRC Bluevolt and Hyperion posted some price lists. Search for their posts on this thread with the string.Originally posted by kedar3223 View PostSir any tip to search 700 odd pages for spares cost list? tried the search function but could not zero in on a price specific post. My Ninja is going for 3rd service tomorrow.
Picked up 2 liters of Motul 7100 100% synthetic Ester 20w50 oil yesterday.
I have a 1Ltr can of Motul 5100 15w50 semi synth which i dont need since i am switching to fully synthetic oil. The can/bottle is sealed and was bought only recently.
Anyone wants it, please PM me. Local pickup only (Bangalore).
My K&N filter also is up for sale. Anyone interested please let me know. Used for only 3k odd kms. I also have a cleaning kit available.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

FISH!!! Checked up the GrZ custom site and found the kwacker. Cant believe its the same bike, In the pic it looks all neat and clean, like just out of SVC, where as when I saw it in flesh the bike was all DIRTY.
