    • I was near the pbk (In Mumbai) so went in and inquired about the ninja and stuff.
Told them that I would have bought the Ninja months ago, but I am worried about the after sales service. Since there is only one service center in mumbai and the other one is in Thane. There must be a lot of Ninjas lined up to get serviced everyday.

So he told me that in the next 6 months or so, these guys are coming up with a dedicated service center for Kawasaki ninja bikes only (First one in India)...

Dont know how much of it is true though.

I don't park my bike in malls/theaters doesn't mean that I bought the bike to keep her only in my garage

I just want you to enjoy the 3lac baby 33bhp atit's best!!! things tends to get old you can't help it..similarly parking at mall, etc will always there ,because we are not some one special... we are ordinary and want to enjoy hard...

I am too planning to buy a black ninja but the spare part is a real issue...just few damage can cost 43k if we add few more thousands then we can buy another 150 cc bike.... 43 k to high...but atlast Bike is great and you all guys are the proud owner of this SBK... ENJOY!!!!

I was speaking to the svc guys at Hyderabad during my bike's first service and even they were saying that by the end of this year, the Pro-biking svc's will be dedicated only to ninja's and KTM's

This was also told to me by a PBK person but he only said about the showroom's not the SVC's. May be that too would happen if the showrooms's will have only Ninja's and KTM bikes.

Yesterday, I took my bike to office. It is good 100KM round trip with some part of long stretched roads. Bike was going good after filling in the Motul Seni-synth last week but some what felt a little sluggish in low revs as compared to earlier. Similar had happened to me after the 1st service and I took it again to the SVC and the mechanic adjusted some clutch settings and she was back Flying. Does the correct setting play an important role in how the bike feels overall even their is no clutch play ?

P.S. : I'll add to the recent discussion on rev limiting on the Ninja, yesterday I was easily able to take my bike above 14K rpm in 1st & 2nd gear and in 2nd gear it was doing around 80KMPH. I also think that there is no rev limiter in Ninja.

No complaints whatsoever. Just one suggestion 'Go For It'. The bike is worth every single hard earned penny of yours.

                  • Yesterday went of an oil change and teflon coating.

Happy as again, for getting a royal treatment.. .. reminded me of the first service done.

An observation : got the oil changed at 10500kms (last oil change at 5200kms), both times it was the motul mineral 15W50. Though the oil had changed to dark brown , but the quality (lubricating property) of the oil was still intact.

Manju was telling that it could have run another 2k kms more.

It is not so that i was planning to run it for another few km, but wanted to know why is it still so.

May be because using the best mineral oil (available in India) in the best 250cc bike ever built.. is it so?
                    RIP Marco

Its not about motul; all the oils react in the same way.

As soon as you do a small run after changing the oil the color changes to black, what matters is the oil viscosity?

On the other hand usually our indian makes use only a liter of oil which becomes dead around 4k kms, on the other hand ninja has 1.6 as the oil capacity; so it can easily take you 6k down in a refill.

hope you find this stuff useful.

Glad you were happy with service you get at the SVC.
You have done around 10K KMS on the ODO, didn't you felt anytime a surge to shift either to semi-synth or fully synth ?

                        • Below are some issues i am facing in my bike.

For a couple of days now am getting a burnt smell in my bike, even though the temperature remains normal, this started happening after i took my bike on a ride on a rainy day. Does anyone else have any such smell occuring from their bike.

I am also getting squeking noise whenever i engage my front brakes, suspecting either the brake pads or the front shocks.

During cold start am hearing a random 'tik' noise from the engine (not from the exhaust and no it is not from the throttle link since this happens whenever i leave the engine to warm up after a cold start in nuetral.

Once i come to a stand still in 3rd or 2nd gear i need to try a lot of time, by moving the bike or engaging the throttle a little, to get into 1st gear and then the nuetral.

Sometimes 2nd to 3rd gear does not get engaged and i end up back in 2nd gear.

Feeling the engine strain a lot if i rev it beyond 6k rpm in 1st to 4th gears.

the gear shift lever starts vibrating like hell at and above 4k rpm.

The left leg peg starts vibrating at high rpm. Sometimes i wonder if i am still riding my TVS 160.

                          Heavy noise while shifting gears.

After a 90km ride i could feel my hand / palm, having a tingling/vibrating sensation for atleast 5 minutes, do not know if this is because of the bike or the high pressure i am forcing on my palm while riding.

revving the bike in nuetral to 12k rpm and then disengaging the throttle results in a "hissing sound" which accompanies the traditional sound, when it goes back to 1.2k rpm, from 1.2k to 12k rpm sounds fine.

Should not call my bike Rev-happy rather Rev-unhappy bike.

The bike is just a little over a month old with 1st service done.

Rode the cbr during my last trip.. should say the revving was so smooth in that felt no strain in engine while revving it. Whereas in my ninja i could literally visualize the pistons screeching and scratching against the walls trying to go beyond 6k rpm from 1st to 4th gear, while the motul in it fights a losing battle to prevent the fight.

Most of these issues i mentioned to prassana of pbk during my 1st service but he said everything is normal for this bike and asked me to get it ridden by a fellow ninjette owner to get their opinion. I was like ?????.

Overall not a happy customer :S

                          Anyone else facing these issues?

This smell is quite normal. Do not worry about it. You must be having either mud or something sticking to radiator or engine and that is being burnt off.

Ideally the answer would be to check front brake pads but since you just had first service so can't comment. Front shocks should not be having any problem. Check whether you have fine sand / stone stuck inside brake calipers. If yes, it would wear itself out. If you are very much worried, you can remove brake assembly and remove it manually. (Preferably to be done at service centre)

Check whether both cylinders are firing properly. There is a chance that spark plug wire / some other component of one cylinder has become loose. This would result in your inability to rev the bike higher.

Ideally, you should never rev your bike's engine in neutral.

THUD while shifting in first gear is normal. If you hear it in other gears, take it to service centre.

Tingling palm can occur because high pressure on it during riding. You should hold accelerator only in your thumb and index finger.

Thanks for that bro. I was quite worried about the burning thing recently. will check if anything is stuck to radiator or the engine block today.

Me and vkucchal revved it one day to check the sound signature in our ninjas, that was when we found this issue.

The thud is only at 1st gear but i do get not as heavy sounds while in other gears, infact right from day 2 i am hearing noise while shifting.

If you are unable to rev engine above 6,000 rpm, that would most probably mean that only one cylinder is firing. The repair is very simple and would be free of cost. Just take it to service centre.
