It is not that i am not able to rev it above 6k rpm but the engine feels too strained when i do that. It feels as though it is about to explode if i try to rev above 6k in 1st gear .
Well in anycase will take it to service center to get everything checked again.

    • Guys,
I need help. I have installed the integrated turn indicator based rear brake Light (LED based). I got this brom bike monkey (au), but the indicators do not work on the stock relays. Bike monkey guys did not prompt me to buy one while procuring the light. Issue is that if I now buy the same from them then I will again end up spending $30 towards the delivery charges and the relay would cost me somewhere around $45.

Does anyone of you have any idea about procuring a similar relay (that works) in India?
      or,
      Any other valuable suggestion?
      Thanks in advance,
      Gurpreet

You might have ridden your ninja in heavy rains please go to SVC and ask them to clean up the spark plugs that should work.

        • @firen: The burning smell is due to burning of engine oil-engine parts are not yet mated&it will settle down with time. Same applies for the rev unhappy nature. Do not stress out the engine too much during this period.
Notchy gear shifts will also disappear after an oil change or two.
As for vibes, I believe assembling at PBK was not upto the mark-all you need to do is get the parts tightened!
I am not a Ninja but an R15 owner-am speaking these out of general bike experience of 10 years+.

Thanks dude. But the engine strain issue has been there even before the ride in the rain. In anycase will get it checked.

I have already had 2 engine oil and oil filter change till now(ODO is at 1700) . The vibes are really high on the gear shift lever, definitely need to get it checked.

Yes, the lever alignment could be faulty. Please get it checked.

In that case, one question-what kind of run-in did you follow? IIRC, the manual has given below 4&6K RPM strict speed restrictions for 1st&2nd set of 800kms.
Anyway, if you did follow a proper run-in regime, then maybe the tappet/valve clearance needs to be checked-they are mostly the culprits for stressed out/ rev-unhappy engines.
I fear the above is true, since most of the SVC guys tighten the factory tappet setting at the 1st service, thereby killing the performance of the bike.

              • Probiking service

Broke oil seals in both my front shocks and got it done yesterday. Came to know that the front disc pad was gone and the metal had started There was no brake pads in store and i had to replace the disc pads with a karizma disc pad (it costs the same and is of the same fit..thats what the service center guys told me).
The problem now is that the front brakes dont have those killer bite when i grab them. I use only the index finger for braking and it had been quite good till the tyre slips. But after the pad change, i am required to put further pressure on the brake lever and its got a spongy feel to it. Even tried grabbing with all four and still the front tyre doesnt skid!! So am really unsure of what the problem is
                a) Is it the brake pad per se?
                b) Is it because the distance between the pads high?
                c) Is it because the lever travel has increased?

                Any thoughts from anyone?

Once the disk pads arrive in the service center, am going to buy the ninja pads and see if its the problem and probably replace my rear brake pads with the karizma ones! Always thought those rear brakes had too much on them sometimes.

Not sure about the reason, could be the brake pad mismatch.
How much did the ZMA pads cost you?
You could have tried that Goldfren(?) brake pads available at DSG. They are Ninja spec and cost only Rs.300 more. The distributor says they last 3 times longer than the stock.

                    • Heres my short (or rather a little long) story I would like to share with my fellow bikers. There must have been a time in your life when you must have decided This is it.. Its the N250R i want to buy and you must have bought the bike with all the efforts one needs to put in to buy a Rs. 300,000 bike. It happened with me also but about a year and a half after the bike was launched. Since childhood (like most of us here) I had a dream of owning a sports bike (atleast a 600cc bike) that too before I get married, since one's priorities, commitments etc. change after marriage. Last year in Aug I sold my P200 since I was taking a trip to the US for few mnths and there would be no one here to take care of my bike and also I wanted to upgrade to a Real Bike soon. While in US I rode the Kawasaki ZZR, Yamaha R6, Honda Shadow 1100, and rode pillion on Suzuki Boulevard a few times. Amongst them I liked the R6 the best. It was always Honda or Yamaha that I wanted to buy, a 600 cc bike no more no less. Even though I had an encounter with the ZZR in US I never thought of buying a kawasaki when I return back. Meanwhile from 7 seas apart I was constantly browsing the internet for any new launches in India in the 600 cc segment and was also looking at any used 600 cc Honda or Yamaha in good condition in India but couldnt find any that would fit my budget. And to my happiness I came accross the news of Garware Motors launching the GT650R by begining of 2011. And that's it.. I decided that its Hyosung I will buy. After getting all the info on the GTR I was a lil disappointed since it had a long waiting period, it weighs 215 kgs and the on road price was exceeding my already stretched out budget of 5laks. There I was in April all disappointed as I had to wait for another 6 months or so before I could gather the excess 50 grands needed for the GT, which I didn't want to since I was getting married in June and as I mentioned earlier I wanted the bike before I am loaded with responsibilities.
Here's the most interesting part that changed my life. In April 1st week I was returning back home from work and I stopped by at this hotel cum motel called Fountain at Ghorbunder road (Thane) for tea. While still in my thoughts of owning a sports bike, I saw a biker fully geared with riding gears, gloves, helmet, riding boots walking past me making me feel all the more bad about my situation. I had not seen him descend from his bike but looking him fully geared up I was pretty sure he was on a nice machine. While walking past me he happened to drop his bandana or kerchief without his knowledge and I signalled him about the drop which he picked up and left. My curiosity got the better off me and I walked towards the parking lot to check the bike he was riding. The bike parked there was a Lime Green Ninja 650cc (I thought it to be 650cc) and I was drooling over the looks admiring the size, color, style, engine, console and everything my eyes could see in the green machine. Within minutes the biker came to get his bike and I gathered some information about the bike from him. To my surprise it was the Ninja 250R. This Biker was from Pune and was travelling to his hometown in Gujarat (I guess he must be a member here on Xbhp) and was pleased to give me the info about the performance of the bike. I had known for a long time that Ninja 250R was launched but I never took any interest in the bike, honestly because I didn't want to take just a 50cc jump (i owned a p200 previously). I used to think that baby Ninja actually looks like a small baby sport bike (R15 alike, no offence to R15 owners here), but my perception about the bike changed the day I saw the bike in flesh. I was completely in love with the Full Grown Up looks of the bike, and with whatever little info I got from the owner I was satisfied that the bike has awesome power, delivers great performance and is a bike I can ride it in the city and also take it for long leisure rides (not to mention I save 2 lakhs as well).
So that's it!! That day I decided its Ninja250R. Then the next day took a test ride (drove 30 kms to the showroom for a test ride) and booked the bike following week. Got the delivery in about 3 weeks and now I am a happy owner of the best 250cc bike in the world enjoying the ride.
So that was my story about the Ninja 250R. Whats yours??
P.S. I would like to thank the Green Ninja Owner for taking a halt that day at Fountain Hotel.
Any day is a good day with the wind on your face.

This reason might be because of the brake pads misfit.

What do you mean when you say that the distance between pads is high??
It pads should always be closely sticking to the metal plate. i got this confirmed with prasanna.

Level travel could not have increased.. IMHO that is the only case incase of drum brakes. may be not with the disk brakes. OR can be a wrong fitting problem.
