Dont sweat Kiran! I won't be doing any such mods except changing to k&n! I have considered the full exhaust system and the pc but they'll set me back by 50k easily and all that for a 10-15% increase in power! (i'm aware it doesnt just improve the power delivery but also many other things). Besides like harsha said, there aren't many, infact we'd be lucky to find a professional who'd have the knowledge and experience at changing the maps according to our liking! takes too much time, requires passion and self know how!

With my limited knowledge i can say that the stock ECU can compensate no more than with a 5% deviation to correct the AFR values. Good enough for a stock replacement K&N air filter. But with an exhaust the stock ECU wont be able to compensate the change in AFR.Originally posted by harsha645 View Postto what extent can the stock ecu adapt??.can the ecu handle if change only exhaust system without changing to k&n..i dont think here in hyderabad there are tuners who can handle ecus...i think even if i get a powercommander i should keep on changing the maps to know which one suits me best...
If the bike was equipped with a wide band sensor (not sure if it is equipped with one) it is easier to figure out the deviation. Please also note that the stock/factory ECU's cannot be remapped or reprogrammed. You would need a piggyback system that fools your stock ECU to compensate the values or a standalone ECU like the PC5. PC's can be remapped according to preference. You wouldnt need to change many maps to figure out what suits you best. Its not a long drawn process

@Harsha and Abhinav: Seems like I will have a tough time to catch up with you guys when we go on a ride together...

ninja has wide band sensor ....is there anyone here who have got a powercommander for ninja??Originally posted by n_aditya View PostWith my limited knowledge i can say that the stock ECU can compensate no more than with a 5% deviation to correct the AFR values. i am quite sure that i cant get maps and tune the power commander and the option left for me will be banglore and then again it will be a bigger process...how i wish the stock ecu can handle the exhaust...R.I.P vinu s v,you will never be forgotten

Looks like some great performance mod classes are going here.
It was of great learning from the last two pages of the thread.
Guys I had encountered an issue with my Ninja, last week I had gone for a ride for about 100KMS and it went all good but when I started to go real hard on the throttle, shifting each time around 12K my bike refused to go above 140 mark. I thought may be that day was too windy or so and at that time didn't bothered much and just came back home.
The next day I started the bike, it felt very sluggish and harsh, was not gaining speeds as swiftly as it does, so I felt may be it's just a small ride, so felt the same.
Today, I went for a longer ride again it was feeling sluggish, stopped the bike and checked the engine oil, it was just visible from the oil window and it was all black.
What had gone wrong, why oil turned black when my bike just clocked 3150KMS and oil was changed at 1250KMS?
What should I do now, immediately go for the oil change and 2nd service/ just get the left over oil drained and get it filled ?
Did revving at higher rpm with low engine oil did much harm to the engine ?

which oil are you using in the bike??...check the airfilter once if there is too much of dust in it and clean it...it may cause sluggishness....i feel difference in power before and after cleaning the airfilter(i do clean airfilter for evrery 800kms along with chain lubing)..Originally posted by kariznin View Post.

The Bajaj DTSi oil they provide at the SVC, I took the Motul mineral at the first service but they insisted to go for Bajaj as it will perform good in initial stages. But, my bad, I listened to them and this problem has occurred. Will check the Air Filter too but the oil level is very low, just visible from the window and it's completely black.Originally posted by harsha645 View Postwhich oil are you using in the bike??...check the airfilter once if there is too much of dust in it and clean it...it may cause sluggishness....i feel difference in power before and after cleaning the airfilter(i do clean airfilter for evrery 800kms along with chain lubing)..

That could be the case but what about the engine oil, it is definitely below the lower mark on the window ?Originally posted by killer_instinct View Post^^ Most likely its the air filter. It gets dirty pretty soon during rains. I have always seen a major performance boost once I clean the air filter.

here at svc the mechanic insisted me not to use that bajaj oil as it have relatively less life when compared to the motul.Originally posted by kariznin View PostThe Bajaj DTSi oil they provide at the SVC, I took the Motul mineral at the first service but they insisted to go for Bajaj as it will perform good in initial stages. As killer said it may be due to air filter..clean it and if you still feel the same, change the oil to bajaj oil and change it to semi synth or full synth(motul) at 6k kms(sec service)R.I.P vinu s v,you will never be forgotten

Not sure if anyone has installed a PC on their ninja here.Originally posted by harsha645 View Postninja has wide band sensor ....is there anyone here who have got a powercommander for ninja??

Check this out. These guys supply ECU's to most of the INRC rally cars and they have ECU's for the ninja too. Speak to Karthik and refer my name. He is a good friend of mine and will be able to help in ECU tuning if you require.
Bajaj oil sucks and it cannot handle the high revving nature of the ninja and therefore it breaks down much faster. Drain the old oil, change the oil filter and fill up with motul mineral (switch to semi synth 5100 15w50 after 5k kms) and get the air filter cleaned also.Originally posted by kariznin View PostThat could be the case but what about the engine oil, it is definitely below the lower mark on the window ?
Your bike will run as good as new.ATGATT - Because hospital ceilings are boring !!!

But, as I am continuously riding at high rpms, usually red lining, will the Motul mineral last next 1900KMS or so before I go in for 2nd service and change to Semi-synth?

Celebrating my 20th anniversary
Have had the good fortune of celebrating 20000 klicks on my bike today.
Its been a pretty loving relationship with the bike. Its been 1 year, 3 months and 13 days to be exact since she came home. She has never disappointed me except for a blown fuse which caused her FI light to glow. She still looked good.
Initially she did scare me with her power but now am used to her. It has become an addiction with her.
Even when i was abroad for around 11 months i used to badly miss her and wanted to get back to India just to have a stroll with her. She has stood with me through both good and bad times. Had the misfortune of dropping her once, crashing twice but she has still been on my side like a faithful wife. The time has come to appreciate her for being along so long.
Here is a poem from me dedicated to her on the 20th anniversary
"The day i saw you in probiking
I wished you would be mine for the taking
Put the payment down, waited long
Cometh April and i took you home.
You ve been around and had your share of falls
But you have always stood so tall
Oh my love, thank you for all
Kawasaki and Bajaj, Kudos to you all."Last edited by JAKRAP; 07-13-2011, 09:23 PM.http://www.californiasuperbikeschoolindia.blogspot.com
