Before the Ninja I have rode my Karizma-R for 50k kms but I have only some basic knowledge on the bike and nothing else

Btw, last weekend I successfully completed my bike's run-in of 1600kms with a weekend ride of 510kms...
Only Issue I faced was my Ass was paining like hell if i don't give it some rest for every 30mins or so :P

I did gradually rip the bike till 10k rpm in the ride and mannnn the feeling was awesome!
As many ppl are complaining I also felt that the bike was struggling to cross 130 or so...
I suppose the reason might be that the ECU of our bikes are habituated to the run-in style of riding and as n_aditya suggested some pages back I'm planning to unplug the battery for around 20 mins and rip her to the max after reconnecting it...
I'm sure that will solve the issue

Below are some pics for the Ninja lovers

Struggling to cross 130? Was there a lot of wind? Were you riding pillion?

Ya there were crosswinds at that time
At one place I remember touching around 140 (I did not red-line in any of the gear though) but felt that that was the threshold
Some time back when I tried my friend, Harsha's bike I could easily touch 150+ with in no time that's where I felt the difference....

Anyways I'm planning to take my bike on to the 4-lane highway this week and will check out again if any problem with the bike or is it just coz of my riding style....

I would recommend to do the high speed test after clocking some more kms (doesn't mean you should not push it). I own a CBR250 and even my bike struggled to cross 145 when it was 1.5k kms old, but now after 4K kms easily crosses 155. So after muching some more miles the engine will open up a bit and will satisfy you . Cheers!

Strange! I too followed the conservative run in methods till 1000km and as soon as my first service was over, i ripped her...easily crossed 150. I wasn't aware of the fact that the ecu may adjust to the riders style! I remember riding my ninja under HEAVY crosswinds at speeds above 150 but then soon slowed down hence i was made to believe 150 is a cake walk for the bike under any condition! It's a good idea to let her rip on the NH7! Do call me as i'd be glad to join you!

A friend of mine is picking up a used ninja (and from a different state). i would be accompanying him to check the condition of the bike. The bike has around 6K on the ODO.
Since the bike is in a different state, we cannot take any trusted mechanic to the place and need to check it out ourself.
can you guys help me on the things that i need to check, before picking it up. like how to identify stuff that could be tampered?
Which state are you taking it from? Maybe xBhians might know the bike you are picking and can give you some info about it.

                • I have a query guys! I'm planning to buy in-helmet speakers, I've looked through ALOT of websites to research the products but i'm still slightly confused! Mainly on the brand and delivery to India? Does anyone here use helmet speakers (not the in-ear canal headphones) which clamp securely inside their helmets without affecting the comfort? Any inputs on the two way intercom?

I don't think anything beats the pure bliss of listening to the tunes on the ninja, riding on a highway with monsoon clouds around! (well for me anyway, till i get the s1000rr)

p.s. Sorry for the OT post

Sure, you have to check how much of the pads thickness remains between the two calipers. Google for more instructions.

I know the bike you are taking about. Try to test ride it a couple of times and make sure there are no vibrations (from the plastics / engine). Do try if the breaking is good, the owner has posted mentioning the bike skids on braking (May be because of hard braking)

Good Luck with your purchase and let us know how it went through!

                            • Hello guys off late i have been getting some squeaking noise from the bike. it starts after a couple of kms of riding. I have driven it a lot in rains and and the bike has often become muddy. Took it to the PBK but when he tested there was no souund . The sound is not continuous but increases with RPM. I am pretty sure its not from the engine, its either from the tyres or the brake assembly. Any solutions ??? The 1st service has been done very recently.
Twist the accelerator and a Tsunami of G-Forces hit you, reaching 100 kmph in a matter of seconds, all 33 horses and 22 Nm of torque giving you what modern science would call an orgasm.

                              Green Soul !!!

It's your chain that is squeaking. Get it serviced.
