  • Nice to see you have a good time, sidbp. Even the pan bit... it all adds to the experience, yeah?

About the temperature, did the fan kick in or did it naturally settle at 75%? I have the fan start up whenever I'm stuck in heavy traffic... and it makes me feel restless. You know, like how sharks need to keep moving to breathe? A bit like that. Fingers itch. Eyes roll. Sighs escape lips.
When the body wanders, the mind rests.

even I didn't find it online. I got to know about it only when I went to the Motul shop. Both FS as well as mineral oil are available for 20w50.
        @Sidbp : enjoy the ride

Like you said, the experience was great; and yeah, the paan bit added some "color" to the scheme of things! hehe...

As regards the temp, the fan does kick in before the needle crosses the half mark... i was quite worried if i was going to have to stop on the side of the road and wait for her to cool down a bit, but the needle held steady at the 75% mark; so that was a relief!

Completely agree on the restlessness bit! +100 to that!! Its a bit like a caged tiger itching to be set free!!

            • @Sidbp : enjoy the ride[/QUOTE]

thanx @hellbreaker46...! did enjoy the ride; except for the paan bit! but as @evershine said, it all adds up to the experience!

I am completing 1000 kms and intend to take her for her first servicing tomorrow. Any particular things to pay attention to??

I intend to switch over from mineral to FS on the engine oil. Is it advisable to do so or should i continue to use the mineral oil for some more time?? I spoke to a few SBK mechanics and they suggest that there is no need to run a mineral one in the engines and it would be best to put a FSO such as Motul or Egip along with a new filter.

incidentally, i have changed the oil once before at 250km itself along with the filter to ensure no metal filings circulating in the engine...

A few pointers to keep in mind for the first service would be much appreciated guyz!

                Frankly nothing much...
As far as PBK service is concerned, they do their job well
But it does depend from place to place....
Just make sure you dont leave your new baby unatteded and the user manual has all the details on what needs to be done for the 1st service

Any one knows the reason why this could have happened..

PS: I have mainly driven in city and one high trip.. previously i was constantly getting 26-28 km/l..

All these saturdays/sundays when I didn't have college I used to day dream which slightly paid off. It's not such a big DIY but the stand is handy enough and you can save a few thousands. It's the R15 race stand that costs just rs1500. slight modification of rs94 and you have a paddock stand for your Ninja. I will spray paint it so that it looks neat. Now no problems in lubing the chain/ cleaning the bike/opening the fairings/carrying out minor mods.
                        Here are a few pics.

thanks to my dad for sending the stand to me from my hometown.
Can you let us know a bit more about this stand? (what work was carried out) I have R15's stand & wish to lengthen it to accommodate CBR's frame.
                        Thanks

Check ,clean, and change the air filter if needed....when you clean and re oil the air filter element use a light oil like 2 T and not 20W40.

                            • Ninja indicator DIY

Today I put Ananth/psr's DIY of Jive indicator into action.

I was able to complete in 15 min. It saved me around 1000bucks. Thanks guys.

                              Before replacement

                              Checking before doing final bit

Eureka, it does work. Final fit.

As pointed out, it's an exact match.

                              Faced 2 problems,
                              1) Difficulty to get hold of the TVS Jive indicator. I was following the TVS center in Delhi for past 3 weeks. They were unable to source it in their stock. Finally, got my brother who was flying down from Chennai to bring it along from there.

                              2) The black and green wires connected to the indicator, needs a bit of trick to pull out. Used a nose plier, put it in a straight line as the socket and pull it straight out. Was unable to get it removed with bare hands.

The availability is to become even more difficult as the TVS Jive isn't a popular model and may be phased out.....so request N250 owners to buy and stock the indicators for future use, since it costs only Rs 160/- for the full assembly.

                                2) The black and green wires connected to the indicator, needs a bit of trick to pull out. Used a nose plier, put it in a straight line as the socket and pull it straight out. Was unable to get it removed with bare hands.
Yes I had used a Nose pliers to fit the press fit connectors on to the connection. The female connector has locking dimple on it to mate and lock with the Male connector in the reflector/bulb holder.
