If possible can all of us write to Bajaj in anyway to organize the second GREEN DAY ???
Met a guy from bajaj on one of my rides in Pune. He said that the green day will be in some time Feb 2012 nd all the owners will be sent an invitation email.
Twist the accelerator and a Tsunami of G-Forces hit you, reaching 100 kmph in a matter of seconds, all 33 horses and 22 Nm of torque giving you what modern science would call an orgasm.

250 feels underpowered on the track and there 650 will score. On a smaller track like Coimbatore, it may be a different story.

TV you may be right here, as i am yet to saddle the 650 even on road. just wishful thinking may be. just was thinking only on entry and exit into corners fast is what makes a good race bike i thought ninja 250 may clearly outpace the 650 in this department. well i may be outright wrong here.

CSS is a serious training session. However, one piece leather suit was not compulsory last time. (it was compulsory first time but not on second)
the suit was not compulsory just i am worried about my paint work ( Read skin). it was always in my mind during green day where i knew my cramster gear is just no no for protection on the track in case of a fall. i feel that full leathers will make me totally concentrate on the riding without much of a worry on track over runs, skids etc as i know its the best protection that is there. may be i am over protective kind of... ?

Power difference between these two bikes is huge so 650 makes up in straights what it looses out in corners.

You are absolutely right. Nothing better than full leathers. and NO. You are not overprotective kind. While riding on track, better to ride with all the gear that you can afford.

One request to all Ninja owners from Western India. Please try and speak with your local company officers and request them to hold a Green Day on Chakan track near Pune. It would be much easier than travelling for 24 hours for one day riding.

          • Some days back, I had mentioned about getting a replacement chain from a company called ROLON - :: L.G.Balakrishnan & Bros. Limited

This chain landed in Pune on Saturday. Company officer called me up and told me something amazing.

Being a new product, he wanted to be present while the chain was being changed. He wanted to observe the fitting and whether it faces any problems. Vrathor is a Ninja owner from Pune and his bike was in dire need of new chain. He set up timing with rolon and service centre guys.

Rolon Asst Manager and Regional Manager came down with new chain and spent close to 3.5 hours observing whether the chain fitting was proper or not. They took copious notes filling at least 3-4 full scape pages to submit as a feedback to their R & D department. The 2 chains received by Pune office were sent by R & D for trial purpose.

The chain was a straight fit. This chain is X ring chain which is supposed to be more sturdy than stock O ring chain. The MRP of this chain is Rs.1880/-. For comparison, stock chain costs Rs.6800/-. If you need it, you can speak with your local Rolon office and order this. (Disclaimer : I do not work for / own this company and have no interest financial or otherwise in you fitting this chain)

We have also spoken with them to provide sprockets. They will get back in a week or so.

            Some photographs of chain.

Harish..if you can afford a leather, buy it. There is no alternative to it. For the difference, a normal set of jeans would hold (if u skid on the tarred surface) for a measly 4 metres before it gets torn and the leather should hold good for atleast 80+ metres.
Try to source it from US or UK if you got your sources there. Would cost you nearly 17K for the most basic one. The prices here are prohibitingly expensive (52K )..just like the home prices in pune
On the track the chances of hitting anything solid apart the road is very unlikely so you can have peace of mind on not hitting an electric post and stuff like that. But you can expect some pigs, dogs and snakes!!

BTW hows this Bajaj track.. Has it got sufficient clearances on both sides of the road? I would really be worried about clearance from my last outing. Was saved the last time bcos the chennai track had a jungle on the track side
Is it recognized by FMSCI??? Am not sure if Kawasaki would want to hold it on a track which is not recognized by FMSCI should anything go wrong.
Am game for the intitiative thou. But how do we inititate this initiative??

Bajaj track is excellent but smaller than Chennai. Sufficient clearances on both sides with one U turn with high banking, a straight of around 1.5 km.

I doubt that it would be recognised by FMSCI because this track belongs to R & D dept. of Bajaj and others are normally not allowed on it.

The way to initiate this initiative would be to call up local company officer/s and bug them

                  • from a google search it was seen that X rings are better than O ring chains. what we should have is the full set from Rolon - chain and the sprocket. it is a matter of time that kawasaki may offer much cheaper spares without compromising in quality and makes the ninja ownership a lot more affordable.

TV & JAKRAP - i am planning on taking a full leather set with quality boots and gloves to match in a couple of months.

my cramster gloves even after 6000 k riding still rubs making me uncomfortable on long rides. so much for quality.

It happens sometimes when the bumps/speed breakers are badly constructed. That is when one needs to slow down the bike as much as one can while crossing them.

Nope. Not till date in my 21000 km running till date. However, I ride only on roads and do not venture off roads. Also I weight 60kg.

                          • More on the Rear Disc Jam

[QUOTE=trustvishwas;719171]My issue was bit different but with same results. I had ridden my bike around 500 mtr from my home, parked it, had coffee and then when started back, the brakes locked.

It seems that during pressure wash, the rubber bushing (whatever it is called) of rear brake cylinder had cracked and water had entered it.

Thanks vkuchhal and Aditya and TV. Just spoke to Arif at PBK and he says it was a case of worn out disc pads, because of which the brakes were not releasing after applying them, hence the jamming.

It will be interesting to know at what mileage you had to change yours TV..my bike has only done 4800 kms so far...that too I use the rear brake very moderately. Is that not too early for them to wear out?

Brake pads should last at least 6-7000 km for normal road use.
