Speedy advice : You should go for weight reduction by removing things which increase weight, and sprocketing first and see the differences which will be like phase 1 and see the differences, i know one guy from xbhp called harish who has his workshop at wakdewadi and manufactures sprockets, he also tested NOS on karizma-r and R15.Originally posted by JAKRAP View PostWell..am really sorry to have confused you here
(i was trying an "innova"tive way of asking a question
).
YOu are spot on. Prob it was my mistake. I should have put a disclaimer in the end saying that all the R-15s, Innovas and firebalds in this post is purely fictional and the only thing that is real is the NInja
Have you heard Gordon Gekko in Wheelstreet giving the speech
"The point is, ladies and gentleman, that Speed, for lack of a better word, is good. Speed is right, Speed works. Speed clarifies, cuts through, and Overtakes all the Civics, Audis and the BMWs . Speed, in all of its forms; Speed for the bike, for money, for love has marked the upward surge of mankind. And speed, you mark my words, will not only save Ninja 250R, but thrash all those ninja killers around."
So the speed or greed for speed is always good. It ever ends!!
Thanks for the input. I will try putting that too. I like your reasoning on the black front too.
Thanks for the input Harikesh Sir. Weight reduction is an option to be considered.
You are spot on. A 600 would solve all my problems. But then there is no way i can lay my hands on one.
Did you mean singing songs which are fast (like the NFS sound track) will increase the top end?
Finally the conclusible options for a faster Ninja are:
1) Will remove that saree guard and front number plate to see if there is a difference. That should be around 1kg saved. No cost assosciated with this.
2) Getting a slip on can should save some more weight but cost is around 20-30K
3) Power Commander (not sure how this thing works). The cost is around 20-30K.
4) Marchesini Wheels- Very much out of budget here. But still an option to be considered.
5) FFE and Juice Box-Need to find some one reliable who has already done this.
6) K&N, 650R, Kamati Stickers
7) Listening to Dik-chik Dik-Chik Songs
About the wararnty, its either 2 years or 30K kms and i have just another 5K left.
Friendly Advice : you ride in your own comfy zone and than when the innova stops for toll overtake him and you are winner. Enjoy speed with safety bro

Nope mate..am not looking at a 1000 now. The path of the rightenous man is a 250 to a 600 to a 1000/1400. The 1000/1400 will have to wait till i master a 600! The 650R is a good choice given the practicality it offers, lucky you.Originally posted by satyenpoojary View Post^NOW we know where youare heading!
. but its currently unavailable unless you are selling yours
Yeah sprocketing is a good option but for a sprocketing change of front T-1 (20$) and Rear T+2(60$), the cost would be around 11K since it would involve changing the chain (INR7K) as well. With TrustVishwas' Rolon chain the figure will drop to 6KOriginally posted by shrinathrao View PostSpeedy advice : You should go for weight reduction by removing things which increase weight, and sprocketing first and see the differences which will be like phase 1 and see the differences, i know one guy from xbhp called harish who has his workshop at wakdewadi and manufactures sprockets, he also tested NOS on karizma-r and R15.

+1 to what shrinath has said but I can suggest cheaper and easier weight reduction techniques... reduce your weight by 20 kg (which you can't achieve by removing parts) . . . . . . to reduce weight, the easiest way is to eat only home cooked food.. . . . the burnt/uncooked smell is enough to put you off your food for weeks.Originally posted by shrinathrao View PostSpeedy advice : You should go for weight reduction by removing things which increase weight,

Jakrap - look at this post. Maybe you should call this gent and ask him to soup up your Ninja. That way the 650R sticker on the bike will make sense... heck, forget the N650 even the ducati monster might hide for cover. Innova's and fortuners be damned.

Do you also want to add engine swap to the list. Find an old 600+ cc motor and try to fit it on the bike. Get the handling of the 250R and power of a 600+

Have you tried cleaning your air filter? :POriginally posted by JAKRAP View PostIs there any way to increase the performance of the Ninja 250R? I badly need it as my life is at stake!!
Reasons for the post- The love for my life and the hate for Innovas
1) I have distantly heard of souped up R-15 being Ninja killers. I need to soup up my NInja before any of the R-15s kill me or my Ninja. You know i want to stay alive (being recently married, my wife loves me very much and i dont want to loose her love)
.
2) Last time on the highway i was racing with an Innova. I managed to overtake him (we were doing around 140+) but i couldnt shake him off my rear view mirror. Need the NInja to go faster, much faster than Innovas. I hate Innovas you see! Please dont tell me to remove my rearview mirrors!
Objective for performance modifications
Want to make it a Firebald (if you havent heard about a firebald, go light a cigarette from the cooking gas stove (put ur face down when u light)
) killer. It doesnt mean that i need a rocket launcher on it but need it to go faster than a firebald
till atleast 150 (know the firebald is 1000cc) I know there is "no replacement for displacement" but i dont want any more displacement because there are a lot of displaced villagers in India and i dont want to pick up fights with them.
The performance increase should be in the following range
1) 0-100 (the current one should do it in 7 seconds). Am looking at somewhere below 5. If you can help me make it 3, nothing like that.
2) Top speed of atleast 200 (no driving off the cliff stuff!). The last time i met a college Launda in Probiking he said his Ninja goes to 200! Why cant mine?
Can any of the enlightened souls here throw some light on this dark brain?
Or a more serious (ly crazy) note, I know there's more than one turbo/super-charged 250R out there. In fact, here's all two-

I don't know anything about the injectors on the bike and whether there's any leeway there that will allow mild supercharging without an ECU/injector change. Maybe some time over this long weekend, Google-willing, I'll look up the injector specs and that will give us a clue. Mild supercharging should certainly help in places like Bangalore which are at significant elevation. I've actually been wondering about supercharging too. Instead of wasting ~50W on DRL, pushing a little air might be more useful. Either into the engine to keep ahead of traffic or over the radiator to keep cooler in traffic. Anyone know what you can achieve with 50W?
I wonder if the ECU actually has a restriction to comply with that UK learners license rule. Probably not, but if that's the case, then PC/MegaSquirt it is, depending on whether you'd rather pay in $$$ or sweat+tears.
P.S. Loved your post. Innovative, indeed. When the body wanders, the mind rests.

Entertaining reading !
My two paisa based on my own experiences with the 250R - The K&N, aftermarket cans ( even a full free-flow ) with PC or any other chip mods are only going to make a difference in the initial.
Keeping in mind paisa-vasool, in an all out skirmish with an Innova, top end is what its all about and since you tend to run out of road quickly at 160+, I'd say the contest would be about who can hold that top end the longest, or brake into a corner later. What I'm trying to say is that some smart slip-streaming will help tremendously. I would opt for a double-bubble race screen ( I can tell you, It DOES help ), and lowered bars, to help you crouch - and HOLD - the 160+ longer than the bleddy Innova!
The 650R can and does take the pants off most contenders on the road but every once in awhile I come across a spirited A4 or 3 series who knows how to drive, and then I really miss the sporty stance and crouch-ability of the good old 250R!
Whatever you do, please remember that no a$$hole in an Innova is worth your hide - so ride safe!

faster bikes are designed with a purpose, to go fast. please note that there are some pre conditions attached like good traffic free roads, etc etc.. in the city a 200 kg+ bike and a 150 or less bike travelling at 50 kms straight, it is all the same. the problem is when u turn the handle. in the heavier bike, because of the increased weight the bike tends to go forward more than the lighter bike before the turn is executed. which means in bad traffic city roads you may not be able to play with your ninja like a pulsar /r15, or shall i say you are at more risk when compared to the guys riding the pulsar / r15 all conditions being the same.
another bad thing is that the heavier and faster ninja is a mean beast when it comes to power braking. if you are ahead and some pulsar / r15 is tailing you with say about 60 kms speed, and you have to quick stop. i can assure you they are going to kiss your ass if there are cars on both sides and no gap for them to side step.
these are some things which i feel one should keep in mind while riding a high performance bike.Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

Delay probably because of the crappy weather. Go to PBK and ask specifically for Narayan to get a no bull-shit response.

Paint the roads green
yesterday evening, I have received my green baby Ninja...it's raining in Chennai and I decided not to wait in the showroom for long...so took the bike from the delivery section (though battery warranty card is not given to me, is that usual!!!!) and started back home amidst the bustling traffic & the constant downpour...the engine underneath the seat was making a constant "purrr" and I was grinning from ears to ears (not that it's visible to others due to the helmet & rain
)...anyways, the road I took was full of bad patches and large potholes, which made me extra careful while taking the bike through...stopped by a temple, asked the Swami/Purohit to do small puja...a garland, two lemons to crush
...came back home crossing 26 kms...liked the way bike handled the roads with little input from me...the sound of the engine is sweet to my ears...the weight of the vehicle vanished the moment it started off...okay, I have to admit the seat is little sturdy for my bum (though I have seasoned it since long riding on my P220)...here are few snaps, after cleaning the bike today morning. Hope you all like it.
Motorsport is fun. Safety is a mandate. Be in shape & ride long
