Scary. I'm glad and worried that I have my own independent parking lot though. Glad because the parking space is entirely to myself and both of my bikes remain scratch free. I live in an independent house.Originally posted by bluevolt View PostDude, everything gets stolen here, so be safe, always.

Worried because an independent house means no security guards etc. I'll move to an apartment complex soon though. Been looking for one to buy.sigpic

Glad your lock issue got sorted out. Were you charged any duties at customs for the shipment? if yes, how much.Originally posted by asheshambasta View PostScary. Regarding safety, do all u can to ensure your pride and joy is safe and sound.
Get a bike cover or a motion sensing camera with alarm, etc. if you can afford it.
I would suggest Motul. If you want to switch to semi synthetic oil then go for 15W50 5100. Change the oil once every 5k kms and oil filter once every 10k kms or sooner if you want to.Originally posted by rajesh7 View PostHi. Could someone suggest the best engine oil for the ninja?. My bike has 5000 kms and just wanted to try a better oil. Also is there anyway to raise the height of the bike?. The suspension mount bottoms out on some bumps.:-(
While approaching speed breakers, ensure you crawl over them with the bike.... make sure you are at the lowest possible speed. If they are still too high and scrape the underside of the bike, then take the bump at an angle (like the veyron did
) and you should be fine

I am actually looking to buy an apartment and solving the problem once and for all. Security is a high priority, yes, but having something that can start beeping as soon as someone shakes the bike a bit helps. I slept carefree last night. Otherwise, I'd have checked the gate 3 times during the night like earlier.
Indiranagar is good man, and I live on it's border - GM Palya. The way the bike pops eyeballs has me a little concerned. I'd be much more relaxed if the bikes were parked in a secured parking lot.Originally posted by ronthedon View PostDude Indiranagar ain't that bad! it's more of a posh place. And yes, Sunday it is. Let's take on the bends of Nandi Hills? A short ride and then back,

Well you guys can happily add another one into the Ninja club. Just took delivery of my baby. I was a bit apprehensive at first, especially on the hard suspension, I kept hearing people complain about in this forum, and me doing an accidental wheelie and hit some poor chump. But all my fears came to rest when I first started the engine, and rode it out from the KTM showroom. It felt like a dream on two wheels...
The KTM(Bajaj probiking) guys were superb. I was quite surprised, when the manager there gave me some money to fill up the tank, coz they are supposed to fill up 3L of petrol on delivery. That's a gesture unheard of...
About the bike:
Attention grabbing? yeah...!
Feeling of accomplishment? .. hell yes!
Only disappointment: When will this friggin run-in get over?
@asheshambasta thanx for coming over during the delivery of the bike.. Yeah you were right... I was pretty nervous! And I still am..

Welcome to the Ninja club!
You're most welcome mate. I'll be posting the Duke 200 photos soon.Originally posted by ronthedon View PostWell you guys can happily add another one into the Ninja club. Just took delivery of my baby.

I've forgotten his name, but trust me, that guy is more of a friend than any manager. You can actually go up to the showroom and have a chat with him anytime you want. Not to forget, he's someone who owned 5 RD350's at one time. He's a major bike enthusiast. He even promised me today that if I book a KTM Duke200, he'll ensure I get it in the first lot, if not earlier.

My first 800 will get over tomorrow. :-)

Any one know where I can buy / install a Ciggy charger for my GPS?
Not really bothered of warranty since my bike is anyway out of that. But will it be safe & reliable - looking to connect my GPS and also for tyre inflator occasionally.
I found some on amazon but Junglee.com doesn't help me shop it to India. Anyway out? Need one within a month.. :-)
And FYI, I have a Garmin 76 CSX GpsPhoto Gallery[/B]

Huh? Meetup? What meetup? :-|Originally posted by ronthedon View PostDude Indiranagar ain't that bad! it's more of a posh place. Btw great meetup yesterday.. lets do the ride on Sunday..
Moving on... stopped by at the KTM showroom today. The mini-Duke looks pretty darn good. Remarkably light, looks better in person and sounds... interesting. I might describe the exhaust note as "punchy". What I found interesting is the plastic mud screen on the radiator. The Ninja sure could use one of those. I'd try getting one made but I'm snowed under with work. Or maybe I'm just lazy. It's hard to tell, sometimes.
Also, being stuck in traffic doesn't feel as bad any more. Spotted a Ferrari on Indiranagar 100ft road doing 10.0 kmph in Saturday evening traffic. Poor guy. When the body wanders, the mind rests.

Ninja query!
Folks. I have a couple of questions I need help with my Ninja 250r.
Preamble - I am in the run in period and completed about 200 kms. Barring a handful of instances where I hit 5k rpm, I am strictly adhering to the 4k limit and yes, not staying at the same rpm but going up and down. I am riding within the city so it is helping in keeping the rpm dynamic. The last bike I rode was the Suzuki Fiero (6 Years ago) and before that I had owned a Yezdi Classic and when younger, my Dad's Bullet.
1. Is it normal for me to feel like wanting to shift to a higher gear even when I am in the 6th gear? The torque feels so high (to me) that I keep trying to shift another gear only to realize there isn't one
2. Is it okay to use the engine braking? - it is so powerful that it easily accounts for a 30% speed reduction just letting it go
3. Is it normal for the brake lever to have more play than the clutch?
4. Is there a recommended tubeless tyre puncture repair kit and how necessary is it?
Kindly advise.Evolve!

Maintainence cost
What is the average maintainence cost of a Ninja 250? (servicing, oil change, spare parts, etc.) and where does it stand compared to the CBR? I know about the performance difference.Always assume the other guy will mess up - Ride Defensively!

See my answers below!
1. Is it normal for me to feel like wanting to shift to a higher gear even when I am in the 6th gear? The torque feels so high (to me) that I keep trying to shift another gear only to realize there isn't one - I had a Ninja for two years and I was looking for the imaginary 7th gear even in the last month of ownership, so that makes two of us!
2. Is it okay to use the engine braking? - it is so powerful that it easily accounts for a 30% speed reduction just letting it go Yes, it is okay
3. Is it normal for the brake lever to have more play than the clutch? Yes, the brake lever is much softer/has more play than the clutch.
4. Is there a recommended tubeless tyre puncture repair kit and how necessary is it? A tubeless kit only make sense if you have a portable foot pump. Otherwise all roadside puncture fixers can repair tubeless tyres.
