Break-in
I have this question for a long time. Why don't these manufacturers put another assembly line for breakin/internal polishing of the engine. It involves cost&time but user gets worry free initial days of the bike(Customer service
).

The answer to your question is cost and time factor, but I am sure if there was no break in period you would see a lot more new bike accidents happening as riders start pushing their new bikes to the limits even without knowing their personal limits and without understanding the behavior of the bike at high speeds.Originally posted by yuv_biKING View PostI have this question for a long time. +1 to the answer.
Also, I have an answer to all the conspiracy theories (about manufacturers telling you to break in the bike the wrong way just because they'd want to sell more bikes)
The manufacturers don't need to do that. If they want you to buy more bikes
a. They can very well damage the bike during manufacturing so that it won't last beyond a certain limit. They don't even have to damage explicitly, they can easily do away with using below par metal in the engine.
b. No manufacturer is silly enough to do that - they usually go more setting their brand standards rather than sale numbers.sigpic

Has anyone checked out the tankpad that Yamaha is selling for the R15 v2.0? Looks extremely practical..

Well ROLON did manufacture a chain for me. I was going at 30000 and badly needed a chain and had placed the order with them but unfortunately for me had to change it midway during my Pune - Kerala trip. The old chain couldnt take the track abuse at CSS in chennaiOriginally posted by Ananth View PostAny update on the ROLON Chain / Sprocket?

and had to change the chain at chennai which was an OEM chain.
The OEM one costs around 7000 including labor. The ROLON costs around 2800 (you can ask for a discount) and is an X ring chain and much stronger too. You can check with ROLON whether they have the chain still available. In that case, buy it and keep it.
You will have to source the sprockets from Probiking thou or performance racing

My Ninja's new shuriken
I have a Rolon chain in the pipeline, hope to get it in a couple of days. Spoke to a Mr Ashoke in Bangalore who was very cordial and arranged for it.Originally posted by Ananth View PostAny update on the ROLON Chain / Sprocket?

When I spoke to Prasanna, he said it would cost 12K for the sprockets alone! Ordered JT's off Amazon for a total of $90 and they actually got here quicker than the RolonOriginally posted by JAKRAP View PostFront is 1857.80 + Rear is 1162.68 + VAT 12.50 (377.56) = 3398.00

I saw that one in a late night trawl through forums to see what break-in methods are popular. Makes me thing Dan Ariely of "Predictably Irrational" was onto something. People will sometimes believe something, and strongly, for no rational reason at all. Everybody and his granny has an opinion on this particular matter.
It also looks *huge* :POriginally posted by ronthedon View PostHas anyone checked out the tankpad that Yamaha is selling for the R15 v2.0? Looks extremely practical..
And hey, JAKRAP, nice signature! Just remember to keep one indoors and the other out

Guys, where do i order and procure the chain and sprockets from? Does ROLON also make the sprockets for the ninja in stock specs? I'm nearing 20k kms and want to keep a set handy.Originally posted by EverShine View PostI have a Rolon chain in the pipeline, hope to get it in a couple of days. Did you pay any duty at customs? $90 includes shipping? Please share a link if you could. Thanks!Originally posted by EverShine View PostOrdered JT's off Amazon for a total of $90 and they actually got here quicker than the Rolon

Hey n_aditya. From what I've heard, Rolon hasn't produced sprockets yet. Their research department is looking into it and they may introduce a chain/sprocket kit if they see demand. For now it's just the chain. You can try calling Mr. Ashoke at 9379060591.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostGuys, where do i order and procure the chain and sprockets from? The Amazon price included shipping and customs and I was quite happy to see a decent price after including shipping. Look for the JTR486.45 (or whatever you like) and the JTF1539.15 (.14 being stock, of course). Then pick an Amazon direct link. This link should have "Ships from and sold by Amazon.com" (eg. Amazon.com: JT Sprockets JTR486.45 45T Steel Rear Sprocket: Automotive), in which case Amazon's Indian operations will import it for you. I got the parts in 2 weeks even though the front sprocket was out of stock at the time I placed the order. Happy shopping. When the body wanders, the mind rests.
