Congragulations Manoj for getting your dream bike. The pains are due to your new riding position on a new bike by a long journey, after your body adjusted to the new riding position everything wil be alright. It is great that you are correctly doing run-in from the showroom itself. Do not ride constantly on a certain rpm or speed, change gears and vary speeds frequently under 4 k rpm. It is somewhat tought...but really worth.

Your initial impression on the Ninja will change completely once your run-in is over. Once you get past the 7k rpm you will be amazed by its performamce and characterestics.

About the gearshift, why are you in higher gears when you are standstill? When you are going to stop the bike it should be in 1 st gear. Change gears accodring to the speed so that when you are going to stop it , it will be in first gear. In emergency engine braking will also aid safety if done correctly. 2 nd gear to 1st instead of neutral is a good thing. It may help in an emergency situation wher you can start the bike and move on it imediately instead of struck with neutral. Even if ninja can pull from 35 kmph in 6 th gear, dont do that constantly it will make stress on the engine and it is extremely dangerous in run-in too. The ninja is equped with positive neutral finder technology which will only allow you to change gears from neutral to 1st gear and vice versa, that means you can't get past 1st gear in standstill.

Yes, the pbk is KTM oriented now. When I last serviced my ninja I got the KTM receipt instead of Kawasaki receipt. Don't worry the kawasaki service still exists as before. But I am not a fan of the pbk tvm, they are lazy people..sometimes they forget what they have to do. Thats it

      • For those who reside in Pune - Aundh and Baner area a old Bajaj Showroom has been converted into KTM and KAWASAKI Store. You can get your vehicle serviced here.

PS - its in front of TenHut's home diagonally to Hotel Bhairavee Baner.

Typically would get into a small restaurant for a cuppa. I was driving a Karizma for the last eight years. A lakh and a half kilometers later, I still haven't let her go. Initial impressions: 4000 rpm is just above 50 kmph. I had read somewhere in this thread that it is 58 or 60. My 250 km journey home was patience personified. I was searching for another gear after the sixth. I think thats because of the high revving nature of the engine. Impressed with power delivery as very smooth cruising was possible in the sixth gear from 35 kmph onwards. My problem sometimes was in getting neutral. I think you have to downshift completely and then come up for it and again I found it difficult sometimes to get the downshifting done in standstill position. It stops somewhere in second or third gear and does not go down. I had to release the clutch a little to get it done. Got home at 6 with some pain in the legs at the portion where your front pockets are. It is not there while riding, but more so after alighting from the bike. (I am 180 cms.)

As far as mahesh and slowspeed's comments, I would say that PBK pvm now calls itself the bajaj KTM showroom, so much so that in all my telephonic interaction with them, they always addressed themselves as Bajaj KTM and never mentioned Kawasaki. So that makes it very clear that their focus is currently on KTM. My only worry is that just like the showroom guys for Kawasaki is gone, would the service guy also have disappeared?
1st of all Congrats buddy ...... as i told earlier the PBK guys are not interested in selling ninjas lolz... when i called them before i went for booking the bike the phone operator didnt even know whats it OTR price or EX price was or there were no other person in show room to ask about.

Now i came to know that showroom and Service are in different places and when i asked the about the accessories they didnt had a clue about it . I have now asked they to Get me a seat cowl and the Manager assured me to get it By 28th of this month

and great news for Ninja Owners In cochin soon Kawasaki/KTM PBK show room in opening in Vitilla , By Popular Motors it will be opened in 2 months

          • Thanks for all that input. Let me explain the situation of bike coming to standstill in higher gears. On my last journey, there were two occasions when a traffic cop would suddenly jump on the road at an intersection and motion to stop to let people cross and many a time it would be just one or two people. The reaction time is not enough to move through all the gears.

            • Great news if PBK is opening in Cochin. i don't have any problem in driving 500 kms to and from tvm for service if they would do it on the same day and deliver. But if they don't, then I can't take two leaves from work every time my bike needs to get serviced.

              • Kerala is surely a place where women empowerment has taken off in a big way. While on my last ride I was always expecting the headlight mudra (the one which people use to show that headlight is on) which I got in good measure. But what took me by surprise was when on two occasions one girl standing at a bus stop and another lady walking by the side of the road made the same mudra to me.

In my experience they don't. My last service took 3 days but they forgot to change the spark plugs and come paint touch ups I asked to do. Once a front tyre change and a noise problem from the fornt end took 3 days but they didn't fixed the issue. About 3 months ago I did an oil change and it took about 6 days to deliver the bike. Thats why I said they are lazy, there was a kawasaki servicebay before...now it is missing and it looks like they are insterested to service pulsars and platinas only.

Thats great. Here we have to left the bike there and goto our home by bus. In my case I need to travel over 40 kms in 2 buses to home whcih is a tough thing. Even if the job will take only one hour of work they will say to come the day after tomorrow.

They are always taking a lot more bikes than they can handle thats the reason for the delay. Pulsar owners can service their bikes anywhere, the city has morethan 5 service centers I think, but we can service the ninja only there and it is the only one probiking service center in the whole kerala state. But they are taking all the bajaj bikes for making extra profit , thats the issue. Anyway after the cochin service center opened up we need to come to cochin to serice our ninjas...

                            • Did the 1st Servicing of my Ninjette'. Replaced the engine oil with Motul 5100 Semi-Synthetic. Also replaced the Oil filter.

Has done over 1300kms now. From past 1 week i am facing a weird intermittent issue with the engine just shutting down when riding briskly and shifting gears at 5-6k rpm. All i have to do is stop the bike and turn the ignition 'off' and then 'on' to get the motor started. Really weird. Anybody has any idea about what might be the problem?

There is a Probiking store just outside Vashi Station. For service there is a service centre in Nerul.
