  • Due for 1000kms engine-oil change, Which engine oil would be better. In a dilemma whether to go in for semi-synthetic or continuing with the mineral.

    Any suggestions?

    • On 8-06-2012 i booked my Ninja 250r form TVM probiking sole PBK in kerala paid Rs 40,000/-. and soon after 5 days the showroom guys called me and said that the bike have been allotted to me and there for should pay rest amount.
On 13-6-2012 i paid Rs 2.5L . They told me that i can pay rest of the money when the bike gets delivered. So i asked the sales person about what all accessories will i get for my bike .. i was shocked when he told that they didnt know any thing about accessories ?? he told me that the show room manager was not there and will return next weak. They dint even know difference between seat cover and seat cowl. i asked them that is it possible to get seat cowl form them. They didnt had a clue about it.They said i will get my bike on or before 29th of this month.

so i decided to post it here. 1st i searched through forum but since i was new i didnt had a clue to find it out. so any one can help me through some few question?

1)Any one form kerala bought a seat cowl...? can u tell me where can i get it if the PBK guys failed to do so?.

2)I noticed that Ninja dosent have a rear Tire hugger... (Dint find any one selling it in India)

I am desperate to get these two items ... hope some one can help me not matter the cost.

I also did some shopping and bought as suggested by my friend (he owns GT650R) that i should get Frame sliders cause its very important and helps to save faring in case we drop it (hope it never happen) so i bought following items

      1) Rascal Grafik X-ak Tank Pad Black-Green (Got it form PSR)

      2) R&G racing Crash Guard.

3)Akrapovic carbon fiber slip on For Ninja 250r.

      4) SOL Metal Man Grey/Silver helmet.

      5) DSG jacket and pants.

Cant w8 till my world goes green

Mods if i posted in wrong section please forgive me.

You are going to get even more surprises from the service center soon

I think you didn't met any kawasaki sales guys in the pbk. When I last visited pbk which was about a month ago to see the duke, there were a bunch of KTM guys and I couldn't find any kawasaki guys. I asked them about the kawasaki guys (soorya and rajesh) but they said they are on leave. When I bought my ninjain 2010 there was seat cowls for sale. I think it was priced around 4999 or 5999 at that time...can't remember the exact figure. Call them and said them to hand over the phone to soory or Rajesh and they will guide you.

About the hugger...I think you need to buy it from ebay or you can try bluevolt's DYI (fz hugger) which is a cost effective way. I am looking to try CBR hugger but Honda has no spares available yet

Hom much the R&G racing Crash Guard and Akrapovic carbon fiber slip on costed you? It will be grat if you can post the prices of the other items too. And from where you bought them?

I think you should wait some time to put the slip on. It will void the warranty and the spares are insanely priced. Use the bike as stock for some time so you can find whether it has any manufacturing defects or not. Otherwise if you void your warranty right now and you face any major defects you will have a tough time.

*) About the Tire hugger , i dont know how to buy stuff from ebay ().... and i dont trust em.

*) The R&G racing crash guard & Akrapovic Carbon Slip on cost me (Rs 11000+33000) (Shipping charge =1500 , Shiping time =3 days 4 hrs)

And i can vouch for them. Best in what they do .

I am thinking to put the slip on after the 1st services . i will wait and see how the bike behave and then go for change. the reason i bought it soon because they only had 2 pic left . Thanks for advice .

There is no way that you would screw up your bike's engine in one dash above 100kmph. No need to worry.

Advice is not to do it often before you finish your run-in. After that, it would be difficult to keep you below that.

Your girl must be extremely brave to sit pillion on N250.I myself would prefer to walk rather than ride as pillion on N250.

Brave yes if the rider is clipping. When we rode to Coorg last yr, i was sitting pillion on another ninja and that was the fastest ever i had been on the pillion seat. Bugger was ripping at 155kmph and i was praying like there was no tomorrow. Lasted only a few mins but the worst part was the rear seat.

Sitting on the pillion seat for around 100 kms of broken roads on the way back to the home stay gave me so much pain in my butt cheeks that i was sitting on my hands after sometime. The pain was still present the next day. Never again will i sit pillion on the ninja.

I think ebay is the most trustable place to buy goods from abroad. I have bought many products and no problems so far. Buying from ebay means you are not buying directly from ebay but it is a mediator between sellers and buyers. Order from a trusted seller (by looking his feedback score) and read the description of the product properly then you will be fine.

I think the hugger costs anywhere between Rs 5000 to Rs 10000, so I think giving atry with fz or cbr hugger will be better idea.

About the slipon...my advise is you should wait some more time, say 5000 or more kms, to figure it out about any manufacturing defects the bike may have. Don't forget, even some minor faults like speedo sensor defect will also cost a bomb (Rs 16,000 AFAIK).

Ninja does 155 with pillion?? Personally, I haven't taken it over 130 with pillion, just felt it wasn't worth the risk !

Yes it does and would probably do a lot more but will take a bit longer to reach these speeds with a pillion.

Both of us were completely geared and the roads were wide and open with visibility for over a km. So it was completely safe

                          • Got my Green Monster yesterday. Took delivery at 12 p.m from pbk tvm and started my maiden journey. Took care to stop every 50 km for a 15 minute break. Typically would get into a small restaurant for a cuppa. I was driving a Karizma for the last eight years. A lakh and a half kilometers later, I still haven't let her go. Initial impressions: 4000 rpm is just above 50 kmph. I had read somewhere in this thread that it is 58 or 60. My 250 km journey home was patience personified. I was searching for another gear after the sixth. I think thats because of the high revving nature of the engine. Impressed with power delivery as very smooth cruising was possible in the sixth gear from 35 kmph onwards. My problem sometimes was in getting neutral. I think you have to downshift completely and then come up for it and again I found it difficult sometimes to get the downshifting done in standstill position. It stops somewhere in second or third gear and does not go down. I had to release the clutch a little to get it done. Got home at 6 with some pain in the legs at the portion where your front pockets are. It is not there while riding, but more so after alighting from the bike. (I am 180 cms.)

As far as mahesh and slowspeed's comments, I would say that PBK pvm now calls itself the bajaj KTM showroom, so much so that in all my telephonic interaction with them, they always addressed themselves as Bajaj KTM and never mentioned Kawasaki. So that makes it very clear that their focus is currently on KTM. My only worry is that just like the showroom guys for Kawasaki is gone, would the service guy also have disappeared?

Congrats on your new purchase!!! The Bajaj KTM thing is quiet inevitable, as Bajaj owns over 40% of KTM, so it has a vested interest in KTM doing well...
