Keep the clutch pressed and press the start button. The engine is back to life. Similar to what you could do in cars.
ninja never shuts down even while riding / stopping in heavy traffic. yes it heats up, but then the radiator fans turns on and things are in order, i mean temp gauge will be on high but bike runs.

you should get your radiator / radiator fan checked if your radiator is clean and coolant level is normal and still bike shuts off in heavy traffic.

After reaching home i noticed that 3 Bolts on the fairing were missing and one another was about to fall.I rode at avg 80-100 speeds.Road has some bad patches. Is this the reason for the bolts dropping off or the Servicing guys not tightening them enough.
I hope you did complete the engine break in before taking it near 80-100kmph. I mean the first run in is till 800kmp till 4000rpm in which my bike did something below 60kmph.
Anyways for the bolts..they usually don't fall off so easily, but yes the bad road sto give a hard time to the bike if the suspension settings are stock..which are usualy hard.
if the screws were already lose they could have fallen off due to vibrations, or else normally they don't.
Just because you haven't seen it doesnt mean its impossible...expect the unexpected.

Hi guys.I'm planning to buy a ninja 250r this Diwali (saving up on the moolah ). Needed to know if I should book one that late in the year or if I should rather wait for the 2013 model? You never know what changes kawasaki may introduce.
Also, by when does kawasaki usually announce the release of a new ninja 250? I haven't even booked the damn thing and I'm already excited and impatient ...
        Thanks in advance.

It all depends on you... Dont expect anything more than cosmetic changes from kawi. If you buy next year it'll be a 2013 model and will hold resale slightly better than a 2012 model. Is all about the numbers, lol.

You need to get your machine checked Venki. The bike is not supposed to stop when heated up. A possibility of wrong tuning cannot be ruled out in your case.

You can buy integrated tail lamps from Bike Monkey (Australia) or CustomLED (USA). If you are going for the one which has turn signals integrated with the tail light unit you will need to buy a resistor kit as well.

There are various detailed threads on this on ninjette.org. Search there and you'll find all the info.

I have the Bike Monkey tail lamp but it is not the one which has turn signals integrated with the tail lamp unit. Wanted something basic so bought this. Straight bolt on fit with no modifications whatsoever to the electrical system. Unless changes are made to the electricals there wont be warranty issues. But check with the service center, they may be paranoid about small and insignificant things

For the fairing bolts issue, they never fell off for me in the last 21,500 kms or 2 yrs. They were not tight enough when you serviced the bike.

Never had my bike shut down in heavy traffic. And the start with clutch is and has been pretty standard with all bikes now. :-)

                  • My Bike has done 30,000+ Kilometers now. In my last ride to Meghamalai (In Tamil Nadu) - The Bike had to go through some 30-40 kms of very rough roads (Including off roading in the hills) - The Bike was once dropped at stand still (Since i used the front brake to stop at a steep uphill haripin bend) and the right fairing had a small cut

                    1) The Engine Oil level at stand still was too low (like i could harldly see any engine oil in the indicator near the engine) - But the Low Engine Oil level Indicator on the Speedometer never lit up.. I would any way service the bike (& change the engine oil) - Just wanting to know

                    2) What is covered in 30000 Km service (I dont have the manual, So wont know)

                    3) The Fork Seals are broken - would it imply the forks need to be checked as well?

                    4) Could the fairings be replaced under insurance? What would be the cost i need to shell out? The right fairing has a small broken piece and left fairing has scratches from my previous fall last year..

                    5) On a certain speed - If i press the clutch and let the bike roll - I feel a small wired sound from the front wheel (I have already lubed the speedo worm gear before the ride) - But it still happens, any other solutions?

Thanks in advance for your replies

Check the oil level in the window, first thing in the morning, when the engine is cold. When the engine is turned ON, oil is pumped into the head and other internals of the engine so it will always appear to be on the lower side. To be safe, mentally keep a note of when the oil was changed. It should last at least 5-6k kms unless the engine is consuming more oil than petrol.

                      2) What is covered in 30000 Km service (I dont have the manual, So wont know)

Will check and let you know once i get back home. Call me in the evening at around 8pm

                      3) The Fork Seals are broken - would it imply the forks need to be checked as well?

Yes. How did you manage to bust the fork seals?

You should check the forks for any damage, replace the fork oil and seals.

Fairings can be replaced under insurance. One side costs 15k (as reported here a few posts back) and you will only get 50% since it is plastic.

                      5) On a certain speed - If i press the clutch and let the bike roll - I feel a small wired sound from the front wheel (I have already lubed the speedo worm gear before the ride) - But it still happens, any other solutions?

Could be friction from disc pads on the rotor, tire noise, wheel bearing, etc. Can't say without hearing it myself.

Thanks in advance for your replies

I checked them for two full days & always it was not showing up - I changed them 5400 Kilometers before (i change them every 6000 kms)

If you ride hard through bad roads / off roads for 40 - 50 Kms - Fork Seals tend to break

And, Yes I will get them checked..

Ouch! I wouldn't mind riding with the same broken / scratched fairing - Will try to get a estimate from the PBK first..

                        Thanks Aditya..

I had a similar problem, Engine shutting down when the fan switched on.

Cleaning the radiator, and Slight increase in the Idle RPM solved the problem..

If you are riding in heavy traffic inside the city at slow speeds, bike heats up considerably. However, the heat guage should be lower than red line. If it is, no reason to worry.

One way to counter this is to switch off the bike during long Red Lights or traffic jams.

If the heat guage is redlining, you need to take it to service centre asap.

I faced a similar problem, found that i was riding in lower gears too long. Need to shift quickly. However in heavy traffic this normal as you can't ride 80-100(found that at these speeds bike ran much cooler) and my gauge went up to a little more than half. Never ever touched red-line though! Also the humidity and hot weather would be variables to consider as i found on my trip to Goa this year. I had PBK check the coolant levels and for leaks. Everything was normal. I guess i need to change my riding style. Have yours checked by PBK to be double sure!
