      Took the bike to KTM seawoods and got the normal paid servicing done. Paid Rs.4000 for labour and parts.

      The chain and sprockets have gone completely. From where can I get the sprocket + chain set for N250 in Thane/ Mumbai/ Navi Mumbai area? I am looking for low cost (7k to 8k) options. Please advise.

        Hi All, need your suggestion and inputs. I am planning to get a Ninja 250R and found one in very good condition in the service center which is for sale.
        Its a 2010 model, 19650 kms done, BLACK color. Body is in good shape and so is the engine. Battery and Insurance are down and need a new one. Battery will be taken care off by the owner as informed by the service center guy. Front fork oil seals will have to be replaced - preventive maintenance. Brake pads are good and have been replaced 400 kms ago.

        I got a spares/servicing list from the service center and except the chain-sprocket set everything looks manageable on wallet. The chain-sprocket set feels like it costs more than the F16 fighter jet at Rs. 12000 including labor.

        The asking price is 1.6L. How much do you guys think it should cost?

          Somewhere on this thread the contact details for Rolon Chain and Sprocket is there.

          I think it is a good deal at 1.6L. Just check the service history.
          P.S: I thought the chain+sprocket was 15k. Rolon is an alternative.

            Yes, I have got the Rolon sprockets (14/43) and chain at Rs. 8000/- from Mulund (Mumbai). Earlier, the bike was running on 14/45. With new 14/43 setup the bike is more relaxed. It can cruise on high speeds at low rpm.

            For e.g.

            With 14/45 setup, 100Kmph at 8000 RPM in 6th gear.
            With 14/43 setup, 100Kmph at 7.2-7.3 RPM in 6th gear.

            Will post more numbers later.

                I haven't ridden much after changing the sprockets and chains. The setup is doing good and the bike is relaxed. The quality is good and so is the expected performance.

                      You can try hair shampoo on bike, won't have any other effect than foaming. But don't try bike's shampoo on hairs! Else you will get a nice shiny coat

                      Such human shampoos only have a feel-good effect on vehicles, that you are actually washing it looking at the lather. In reality, vehicles need their own shampoo, which actually loosens and washes away the grit.

                            Hello,
                            I am a newbie here and I was actually looking for advice that current Ninja owners can give me.

                            The issue is that initially I planned to purchase the Ninja but however at that time (2012) I was dissuaded given the price of its parts and limited service network. So I went for the CBR 250 r ABS.

                            The CBR had no problems of its own it is a good bike but Honda's after sales service is horrible and really bad, to sum it up, the only way that a Honda would be destroyed is by the service it receives and not because of its manufacturing.

                            Therefore I am looking to shift to the Ninja so that atleast the bike would get proper care at the service stations, I assume that Kawasaki ASC's are better.

                            So my questions are
                            1) Are Kawasaki ASC's/ Pro biking good?
                            2) Regarding the costs for servicing the Ninja I am planning to buy one in Bangalore, how much should I pay and in case of a worst case scenario what would be the maximum cost?
                            3) Members who had accidents on their Ninja, what was the actual cost for getting it road worthy again?
                            4) I have also seen that there are some local parts which can be used on the Ninja can I please have a list?

                              Avoiding any comparison I'll jump straight to your questions. I'll be assuming that the bike you'll be interested in would be a 250 and not a 300 as the query is posted here.
                              Ans 1- in Delhi I've only had to visit the Kirti Nagar service center, never had any issues with their commitment to resolve issues.
                              Ans 2- I service my bike at home and it is easily done in 1000-1500₹, unless there is any unexpected replacement required. The parts are costly though, to be safe you can consider a budget of 2000-2500₹ for every service.
                              Ans 3- from experience, the parts are costly. The cost to repair depends upon what you damaged. I'll give you an approx idea, side fairings -8500₹ each, rear under seat plastic is 3000-4000₹. Switch assembly - 4000₹, chassis - 53000-55000₹. Radiator - 15000₹. I'm giving you an idea from an accidental point of view. You might be asked to wait for latest 30-45 days for any part that is not available but the svc guys always call and keep you informed about the status. Otherwise brake pads are 1500-1600₹, battery-8000-9000₹,etc. ensure to take zero dep in insurance.
                              Ans 4-for local parts, I wouldn't recommend you try any local parts or Chinese which effect the performance. Like, sprockets, chainsets, brake pads, etc. you can certainly use local indicators and other stuff which add to the looks only. There is actually huge difference in the quality which you will easily notice when you compare the two products. Hope all this info is useful and helps you in your ownership.
