true. but spares actually work out 10 to 12 times as costly.

      R15 headlight - 2200
      N250R headlight - 8600
that's about 4 times as much.

      R15 headlight bracket - 385
      headlight bracket -7500
that's almost 19 times as much.

fairing costs are the main thing here.
specially since the owner of the bike has to pay for 50% of the cost in event of a crash.
the entire R15 fairing kit (front end) costs 3800.

i'm not sure what price of the N250R fairings work out to...
but i'm guessing it's more than 10 times as much.

      • Just another pricing update.. as how bajaj might be minting money..

The spark plug for Ninja 250 is the - NGK CR8E (conventional) for which bajaj charges 274 bucks., but you can buy the same spark at from yamaha(R15 uses same CR8E) for 80 -100. you can also visit the NGK dealer and get it for 85.

        Stop bajaj from looting us...

                  .
I was told the headlight was 12,000.
You must however, also factor in the fact that the the N250R headlights are many many times better than the R15. (That doesnt completely justify the price but still)

It is not only that, even if the glass part of the indicator gets damaged, they insist on changing the complete indicator, saying it comes as a complete assembly and indicator does not have any screws, that is soo untrue..

All the parts have different part nos. , only that they want to make 1500 bucks instead of 100.

Exactly my point. I didnt intend to compare with R15, but I am still of the opinion that the spares are super over priced, even though I agree that this is a premium bike of 3L , quality and all.....the spares shouldnt be sooo expensive.

                        • Yesterday when I went to Pearl Yamaha, an R1 had come for servicing&minor repairs due to a crash.
Guess how much the total bill was?
                          A mind boggling 2 lakhs!
                          Labor Rs.27,000
                          Visor Rs.6,749 R15 is Rs.125 only.
                          Headlights Rs.13,649 etc.
                          I couldn't see more-went back happy that I have an R15.
Point is, imported bikes-imported parts. Expensive.

i second this! people are saying the sum of all the spares work out more expensive than the total bike itself but seriously, how much more expensive?!

i think its a combination of both the factors that makes n250r spares ridiculously over priced! two factors being they are being imported hence there's tax on each spare as well as bajaj trying to capitalise on its profits by further inflating the costs! (correct me if i'm wrong)

p.s. IMO if people are buying imported products in India then one has to be prepared to shell out extra extra cash on each and every part. i don't think we should complain because we bought the bike knowing the situation and its consequences! now i can only imagine the last few pages in this thread are scaring away some of the potential buyers and all i can say is that their fears are justifed!

                            • Since the discussion on spares is hot... let me add some more Gyaan.

Some spares have to bear Double Duty. What I mean is these spares (not sure which ones) are being made in India.. then exported to Thailand (Duty #1) and then being imported back to India (Duty #2).

This information was given by people from Bajaj during the 1000 Ninja Celebration here in Bangalore. They said they are working with Kawasaki to directly source these parts from the manufacturers in India.

Apparently that has not yet seen the light of day. As far as what I see it, the only solution is work harder and earn more money.
