AFAIK, mineral oil is recommended over semi-synth during the initial stages of the new engine as the engine parts during this period settle down. Mineral oil is thicker to semi-synth oil, so will stick to engine parts more firmly during it's intial run-in stages and once these parts completly settle after 4K-5K KMS a more refined oil can be switch over to so that performance is enhanced.

Experts can shed more light over this and help us gather the necessary info.

I too thought there was some problem with 1st to 2nd as it keeps changing back to neutral. It often happened to me when i feel fatigued (my foot movement wouldn't be as firm as usual). Also check your footwear, if you have any play in your shoe then this scenario repeats frequently (it took me a while to figure out the problem was in my technique and not with the bike )

same with me. if i am on high speed then I am not able to downshift my gear as required during sudden breaking.

As per the books synthetic oil is too slippery and prevents the piston rings from properly cutting into and sealing against the cylinder walls. That is the reason we dont use synthetic oils before 5K Kms.

              • Regarding KRP Frame Sliders

Finally got a reply with an apology from KRP regarding the frame sliders
They say that is a long list of customers waiting for the sliders and as I ordered 3 sets, they would be able to allott only 2 sets for now...
No Idea whether Such Huge Demand Or Less supply

Anyways Abhinav and Harsha dropped the plan of going for the frame sliders after Aditya's gyaan on NIL Depreciation add on from Oriental insurance

Now I am in a FIX... Checked a lot of kawiforums and all of them say that frame sliders have equal Pro's and Con's....
Pro's include minor or zero motion falls
And Con's say that for a serious fall the frame sliders do more harm than good to the frame/engine mounts....

As we have the NIL Depreciation cover even i am thinking that frame sliders would be problematic... As insurance companies just plough for a reason to dis-approve the claim... Seeing these after market frame sliders on a crashed bike is more than a welcoming situation for the insurance companies....

All confused now on what to do

                • I say get the Puig ones...if anything like what you mentioned above happens, you can just wrench them off&take your bike for insurance claim!
However, I doubt if that is going to happen-I think you are going too far.
No-cut sliders are the way to go. In case of minor falls they will do their job&in case of major falls, I doubt if a slider can actually protect the entire fairing!

That's good, you got a reply from their side. Still didn't got the necessary info.
After reading your post, me too got into the dilemma for getting these sliders or not as earlier I was also in two minds to go in or not.
But, in case, someone gets zero motion fall and get minor scratches on the fairing, broken indicators or may be impact on the stem that would impact the ride. If in this case, frame sliders would help and save us from unnecessary talks with SVC and insurance guys.
                    What's your opinion on this?

Hmmmm I am a bit skeptical on the Puig frame sliders yaar...
They just rest on two very near by near screws....

The KRP one's look way better with a seperate frame inside which will rest on three points which are placed pretty far away across the frame...
In case of an impact, I am thinking that these sliders will distribute the force in a beeter way than the Puig ones which take the force on almost a single point...

Not sure but Experts opinions required here

                      True bro...
                      I'm feeling the same!
On my Karizma for 4+ years and 50k kms, I had only one major fall but I had some minor sand skid-o-mania 3-4 times at <30-40 speed where Handle took all the impact and I had to get that replaced....
Thinking this way if my Ninja kisses the ground due to the sand, it'd be indeed a tough time running behind the insurance companies and PBK...

                      • Got My New Ninja 250R

After 38 days of Hard wait I got my Green Ninja 250R on Jun 28th around 5 PM. Best hour of my life. I have a quick question on the run in period PBK guy said, till 500 kms the RPM gotta be 4- 5K, then till 1000 Kms, its gotta be 6K-7K. Is this good, or should I go even slower than this. I love riding slow, though she moans good in high RPM(Ya I could'nt resist-- But just Once though ). Ya Low RPM ride is good, cos I get a lot of attention when I ride slow. Also one more rookie question about the common servicing(Yup they are in the Manual ). But I'd like to hear it from the Vetrans here. Please ignore my ignorance.... Will post some Pics soon...

i dont feel that frame sliders are necessary when we are having nil depreciation policy as we can get 100% even on the plastics...i and disapproving claim is very tough here because the surveyors have no idea about what ninja is(atleast my surveyor have no idea and i claimed silencer for having just a dent which is actually repairable)...if you have a crash with frame sliders at high speeds i am sure that it will effect the chassis which will be more painful for us when compared to that of the plastics.

and regarding my issue with the pbk svc..abhinav and and me complained to rahul havaldar(i think he is concerned with ninjas) and the response is immediate and aarif apologized and his response towards me has changed a lot.previously when i pampered/requested him he showed his attitude..now when i started complaining with higher authorities he changed his attitude and he started calling me to let me know the parts to be replaced and estimated amount...

Checked ebay.in and ebay.com, ebay.in doesn't have XX models and from ebay.com they don't directly ship to India.

Can guys point me to some sites where I can order these and can directly ship to India?

Did KRP quoted the price for the sliders in the mail?

I was too told the same engine run-in method by the PBK but followed as specified in the manual.

                            0-800KMS --> Not above 4K rpm
                            800-1600KMS --> Not above 6K rpm

Ya.. the price quoted is 6.5k and shipping charges were Rs. 850 (For 2 sets... no idea if it'd be reduced if its for one set)
