thanks bluevolt for clearing the query!

i remember you mentioned super zoil or something similar as your oil for your baby! you also said you sourced it from japan (i maybe wrong)...would you shed some light on this please? there are atleast 5 riders i know who'd be super interested in this magic oil (since you also mentioned the v V high price so am assuming it's worth every penny?).

I dont want to do any mods to my baby but i would like to do the little things in order to get a mild performance increase. I did consider going for the k&n stock replacement filter but decided against it as few people have suggested the top end might suffer

Yes, I have around 300ml of superzoil somewhere in my Ninja's engine. This was recommended by a friend (malliah) and both of us agree that the bike feels smoother after the treatment.
But I think this additive would be more effective when seen from a long term perspective instead. Should slow down wear and tear of moving parts as compared to stock. Not for nothing they are selling it for the price they are - and in a market like Japan, where anything not worth its weight has a tough time surviving.

But as far as I know, available only in Japan.

        • Corbin or exhaust

Thanks addy and BV for the links and the info. Helped a lot!

So it boils down either to a Corbin seat or an aftermarket exhaust since I would hit the 25000 rupee duty free limit! M4 sounds great but $400 up compared to leo and yoshi all in $300 mark?

There is sooo much stuff to buy here ...am all confused...lol! Led lights, fender eliminators ....craaaazy

You can check in goforkrp.com or planetdsg.com for the crash bobbins.

            Goforkrp asking 7200
            DSG asking for 5800

Both seems to be different which one is better..

KRP seems to have increased their price. IMHO, KRP is better than DSG since there is no mod or drilling involved it in. The clamps come along with the pack, you can fit it straight away. I use KRP and I know quite a few who use the same. There are riders who go for DSG only because of the Green colour option.

I would say the Corbin seat is a way better investment! Aftermarket pipes for the 2fiddy is money not well spent, stock sounds very good.

Both used be priced about the same earlier, however from personal (read crash) experience I believe KRP ones are better. The reason is that the bobbin is mounted on a metal plate which in turn is mounted at two points on the chasis. So in the event of the crash the impact is not directly transferred to the chassis.

In my case due to the impact the bobbin go warped. This could have happened to the Chassis in case of Puig (DSG) bobbin.

I used the K&N stock replacement type filter on my ninja for around 3000 kms and there was a marginal increase in low-end and mid-range performance. Dont expect a huge power bump (a la turbo ).

With the stock foam filter the bike used to touch 140kays real quick after which the progress was slow. With the K&N i could effortlessly touch 155kmph and post this the progress was slow. Acceleration was a lot quicker too from standstill.

Worth the money if you ask me.

But if you are thinking of a K&N and an aftermarket pipe you will need a power commander (PC3 or PC5) to correct the air-fuel ratio (AFR). The engine will run lean without the PC as the stock ECU can only correct the AFR to a certain limit.

No issues with warranty. I switched to motul semi synth at 3700 kms and to fully synth at 14000 kms. I couldnt source the oil at the time of first service so had to make do with the bajaj oil that they filled as default.

I would say a corbin seat makes more sense than an aftermarket pipe. But if you can squeeze in both, nothing like it.

M4 sounds awesome and performs very well too. Its slightly more than the yoshi/leo cos the fit and finish is spot on.

Check out AreaP as well. Apparently these are the best for the ninja250 as the power bump with these pipes is higher than their counterparts.

Stay away from fender eliminators if you can. Its only going to enhance the looks and also riding in the rain will have people behind you cursing you for a long time as it will fling a lot of muck all over. You'll also have muck thrown over your back and helmet due to lack of a mud guard or tail.

+1. Stock sounds good but i heard an akra pipe on a 250 while i was in chennai and it sounded great too. I'm confused as ever. Well, to each his own.

@Sachin - listen to the sound of the pipe when fitted onto the bike and better still if you can take a spin and then decide on it.

Have you thought of steel braided brake lines and/or aftermarket brake pads? Making the bike faster will require better brakes too.

                      All the best.

                      • i noticed this weird problem today morning, i was riding my bike on a highway at speeds of 80+ ,i saw the temp.gauge then and to my surprise it was at lowest level

what surprised me more the needle in the tacho is at 0 rpm
then i felt even the speedometer is showing me a bit less(dont know if its just my feeling or not)
after some time the needle in the tacho is moving now then like all of sudden its going from 0 to 6k rpm, playing for sometime between 8-10rpm,then again returned to zero(all this happened when i accelrated the bike from 80 -100 kmph))

finally i reached home parked it for sometime.then again started it..now as usual it idled at 1.4krpm,i revved it and the the play of needle was usual, however i did find time to take it out then.

eagerly waiting for your inputs on this????

So I'll refrain from aftermarket pipes for now. I am already saving up for a 600+ cc bike (hopefully can make my dream 848 evo come true) for here.

As for the corbin seat, im all for it....400km and my butt feels on fire! i got a good deal i believe $230 (with shipping) as compared to the corbin website price of $259 (without shipping) for the front seat. I am planing a Bangalore-Goa ride in early Feb.

I also did order a plug and play tail light modulator for $30 which i think will help with braking "visibility".

Now for leather pants and gloves! before the closeout season ends!

Good evening, folks. bluevolt has very reluctantly (I could see it in his eyes; also, he told me... repeatedly :P) handed over the keys to his beautifully maintained GQ veteran 250R. I'd like to thank him for everything he's done - for the tips, the perfect wash, the paperwork and the complimentary tank of gas! Much appreciated!

Though we're in the first hours of our relationship, I'm already getting to know the Ninja better. In our conversation on the way back home from bluevolt's place, she told me she absolutely hates traffic so I promised to give her a good stretch of tarmac... but she'd have to wait till things quietened down a bit at the office because I have responsibilities, you know. Boy, was she a lot less chatty after that. Women.

Hmm... I wonder if some Shell Super will cheer her up.
When the body wanders, the mind rests.
