if you ride in the rain / water comes on the chain, there will be rust on the chain in 2 days. instead of 500 kms if water comes on the chain it is better you put SAE 90 oil and lube the chain.instead of chain lube you would be better off with SAE 90 oil. The disadvantage of SAE 90 oil is that you may have to lube more frequently if you are riding highways.Originally posted by navi's ninja View Post

The manual suggests SAE 30 oil for lubing the chain. But oil (SAE 30 or 90) will get thrown off the chain onto the wheels due to centrifugal forces at play. Sticky oil or lube designed for such use is best as it stays on the chain longer.Originally posted by harikeshpk View Postif you ride in the rain / water comes on the chain, there will be rust on the chain in 2 days. instead of 500 kms if water comes on the chain it is better you put SAE 90 oil and lube the chain.instead of chain lube you would be better off with SAE 90 oil. please see page 99 and 100 of the manual. they suggest SAE 90 oil. the manual suggests only oil and not any other type of lube. it gives a good description on how to lube the chain. it is better that every owner reads it.Originally posted by n_aditya View PostThe manual suggests SAE 30 oil for lubing the chain. I have been waved through after approaching the red channel with a full two piece leather suit that cost more than 50K and yet have been roasted for a 8K helmet. That to it was used by me while abroad! I have once paid twice the value of 7K priced touring boots as duty and yet another time been waved through with 3 sets of specialty bike shields bought for friends.
My attitude with Indian Customs - since you can't predict how they will behave, its best to keep an open mind - and be prepared to pay the duty if asked to!
what is the update on the ninja 650 you have booked? have you got the delivery ?Mountain biking on impulse with my wife and our bike goes down in water

Please do take time to go through the thread. It's got more info on ownership of the bike than that can be put in one post. You won't regret going through all the pages.
