                • Yesterday got the 12k servicing done at PBK.

                  Cost incurred = 2000 bucks(1100 vacuum syn +700 labor +100 consumables+taxes) .

Not much of a work on the bike as it was running in near to perfect condition , though had a bit of vibration which got resolved due to valve adjustments.

Did not go for spark plug change as they looked in good condition.Though have kept and extra spare spark with me.

The rear brake had lost its sharpness, so got the brake fluid changed. But instead of using DOT4 they used the DOT3 and prasanna told that they use the same for all the bikes.

I told him the DOT 4 is recommended but he told that DOT3 won't make a big difference, though i will go for a change back to DOT4 on the 18k service.

Their was a light difference in how both the cylinders were firing, which got adjusted with the vacuum synchronization done.

The bike now feels smooth back again.
                  RIP Marco

Thats cheap. I got the 3rd service done few weeks back and it cost me 5k + 1.2k for the oil (Motul Fully Synth Ester 7100 20w50).

I however got the brake fluids replaced while the brakes were bled, got the coolant changed, spark plugs changed, vacuum sync, etc.

Need to check my bill and see why it cost me 3k more as the consumables aren't expensive at all. I think the bill mentioned service charges for some 2k odd. Will get home and check.

P.S. DOT 3 brake fluid is also ok. the manual suggests DOT3 or DOT4 from a sealed container. IIRC i got the DOT4 fluid filled in the brake fluid reservoir.

Sorry for O.T. but what is Vaccum Sync..?
Its not enough to know how to twist the throttle; you must have judgement to know when and where to do it.

Vacuum sync is done to ensure that both fuel injectors spray the fuel uniformly and to ensure both cylinders fire correctly.

                            --------------------------------------

Here is a break-up of my 3rd service bill:

Parts with the prices incl. VAT

washer nylon for oil filter - 93

                            oil filter - 335

                            gasket - 48

                            air filter - 330

                            NGK spark plugs (for 2) - 557

washer nylon - Rs. 40x6 = 278 (fairing bolt washers which needed replacement as they were worn out. I had overtorqued the bolts)

                            nut well - 12.50

                            Total (A) - 1652

                            Labor - 1196

                            paid service - 2239

consumables (brake fluid, coolant, etc.) - 102

                            total (B) - 3537

someone please clarify why i have been charged paid service when the labor is already charged along with parts.

                            grand total (A)+(B) - 5182/-

Motul Fully Synth 7100 Ester 20w50 cost me 1200 for 2 liters (cost not included in the above).

A set of spark costs 554 or so, coolant may have costed 300 or so..

Did u carry a bottle of DOT4 with u . i was also planning for the same but was surprised the PBK is using DOT3. will check on the net as to how much difference in the quality is their between DOT3 and DOT4.

Vacuum syn. is mostly term used mostly for carb engine. but our case for FI engines, it would be better to call it throttle body syn. , mainly to check whether the pressure for both the cylinder incase of firing is same.

I saw the whole process, for my vehicle thought the difference was not much between both cylinders ,but still that would affect the pickup of the vehicle in terms of a lay man.

I think for all the PBK , that device is a must, forgot to click a snap of the device, but for reference it looked like 4 pressure gauges, out of which 2 are connected to the cylinders at the time of checking.
