i really need help on this
my ninja 600 kms old, shuts off while taking clutch , or at traffic when idle
i noticed that the rpm went below 1k
but while starting it goes to normal 2-2.5k
wat am i supposed to do , need suggestions plz
it all happened suddenly like 1 day it was normal and next day it started this

      thnx

Look at the left side under the fairing for the idle adjust screw. If you don't know what I'm talking about, ask any Karizma owner to show you the screw that adjusts the idle rpm - yours will be similar, only hidden a little behind the fairing. Start the bike up, and turn the screw to increase the idle rpm to whatever the manual says (someone help me out here please?) it should be around 1200-1500rpm when cold. It should correct the stalling problem and save you a trip to the service center.

The manual says, the idle rpm adjustment should be made using correct measurement instrument (I don't know what it is called) not with the knob directly without checking with instrument.

        • finally,my dad has agreed to get me the NINJA,after a long wait ....
will be going for the test drive soon and booking one.
i dont understand one thing tough,my friends are forcing me to go for the cbr just because its available at half the price, and there wont be much performance difference for a normal fellow like me.but am fixed on the ninja!

          • how much power can be practically extracted from 250r here in india.
Intake modification,Cam change,ECU change, titanium crank change (very inlikely),complete Exhaust, etc.
also how much unwanted weight reduction is possible?
is it possible to remove the starter motor and go for "dhakka start",just like GP machines?

You'd be better off buying a bigger bike than modding a ninja 250. Reason being there is not much you can extract from this puny engine and the cost/benefit ratio wouldn't justify it. But still, if you have the moolah then go ahead.

Regarding weight reduction, you can rid the bike of the stock end can as it weighs around 5 kilo's. A slip on weighs around 2 kilo's so you can save 3 kg's by adding a slip-on pipe. Take off the fairing and make it a naked bike and you might save a few more kilo's. Replace all plastic parts with carbon fiber and it'll make the bike slightly lighter. Reduction the weight of the rider will also make a huge difference.

You can't be serious. If you do, keep a spare clutch and transmission unit handy.

                • Guys, Am planning to get the oil and oil filter changed when the bike nears the 500 on odo( right now it is at 205). Should i buy a semi-synthetic oil can from elsewhere and then ask the probiking guys to change it or ask them to use the DTSi 1000 which they use normally. If i can buy it from outside, which oil and how many cans?
How much does probiking charge just for the oil and filter change.

Synthetic Oil at this stage would not be a good idea
                      Rather stick to mineral oil....

My bike is also exactly at 205kms as on today
If you strongly feel the need to change the engine oil at this stage go for a mineral oil...
But I don't think until 1000kms it would be needed..

Don't switch to semi synth so soon. Wait till the bike clocks at least 5000kms and then switch over to semi synth. In case of fully synth oil, wait till 10,000 kms.

That said just buy 2 liters of motul mineral oil (Motul 3000 20W50). You will only need 1.6 liters if you are changing the oil filter. You can use the remaining next time.

Thanks Guys, Will look for the motul 3000 from the reliance autostore and get it chaged around 500.

@kiran - I read in many forums that changing the oil at 500 is actually recommended by the users, hence going for it.

Its according to your satisfaction. But like Adi said make sure to use mineral till 5K. Also suggest to change to a better brand and change oil filter (price is affordable) at ever oil change

Better Brand of oil?. I thought motul was a good one.
And yes am planning to change the oil filter too..

Somehow i feel the FE is very bad in my bike.. i had put 10 litre of normal unleaded from bpcl on the 1st day with 12 on the odo(the pbk guys must have put an extra 2.5 litres when i was taking delivery) and the fuel light started blinking again when my odo reached 195.. that is less than 20.. And this was with riding mostly at 30 to 50 ...
Hopefully the BPCL pertrol i had put back then is the culprit.. Otherwise need to get it checked at the probiking service center.

I have switched over to super unleaded from shell and can feel the difference immedietly.
